Looks like July is what I am thinking.

My hope has been July or August. Fingers crossed...

Sadly - I think you are both a bit optimistic.    I certainly want to  sail, but I am  not expecting RCCL to sail from the US  this summer.  Hopefully late fall/early winter.   Just my opinion

You could very well be right. Hopefully in the next month or two we will have a better understanding of what the future holds for us.

Good point, but 60-90 days is for the entire process. I wouldn’t expect to see casino staff brought onboard for the duration of that, maybe 30 days early tops.

They still need to go back earlier just like all ships crew/staff.  Every crew member has to be retrained for muster, evacuations, fire, all kinds of emergencies.  The casino staff doesn't just walk onboard and work, neither does anyone else.  If you pay attention in muster drill, you will see dancers, singers, casino staff, etc all there working.  There's a bit of training that all staff and crew has to do and it's not a week or two.  I'd be willing to bet, he reports 60 days out minimum.

He must be a U.S. citizen, he took time to bash the CDC, but he neglected to comment, except for a few ships sailing under very stringent protocols, the rest of the world is not sailing also.

Chris Wong is a UK citizen.

I respectfully disagree. Normal training is expected to be done after boarding in addition to working normal shifts. It could easily fit in a shorter amount of time. 30 days is plenty of time for additional cross training and ship prep for a casino host. With other sailings we have not seen crew coming back that early. They may bump to 6 weeks to allow for two week quarantine after boarding but that’s it.

You should apply for a job in HR

So much knowledge 😉

I don’t even think non-essential workers like Chris need even to be there 30 days before cruising. Especially if vaccinated in their home countries.

They may have other jobs to learn, since the staff will be reduced. Thus they will need more time then 30 days.

The new norm of working on a cruiseship is going to be completely different once they start backup.

Like how they house them.

Maybe this video will help you with your thinking that he only needs 30 days.

He is going to need 14 days to quarantine once he gets to the US ........ before setting foot on a ship......then the training begins. Don't get the idea the casino is going to open up right off the bat either.

 Enjoy the video and LEARN

Maybe it would best if Chris just gives us a timeline as to when the 1st cruise was scheduled to go off based on the day he leaves the UK.

I'm sure he would know that, just how long the crew would need to get up and running again...........I'm sure it's more then 45 days , since you are now saying 6 weeks, not 30 days.

They may have allowed extra time to quarantine.

Everyone is making good points here.

What's your take on Marc Walker's FB posts hinting Harmony was headed to UK?

They're gone now. Assumption is Royal had them removed. Does Royal direct you on what you can share🤔

That's just some ridiculous stuff.  Treating the crew like prisoners.

Rules set by folks that haven't a clue as to the work environment on a cruise ship. Lots of cabins will need to be held out for crew when there is a mass crew change - RCCL will need to stagger contracts to prevent large turnovers.

The "prisoner" label sounds just about right.................I wonder how the "rules" will effect cruise lines ability to hire crew. AD: Come and work on a cruise ship - long hours - 7 days a week for length of the contract - personal time mainly restricted to your crowded cabin - extremely limited personal contact - recreation or gym facilities may not be available. Come and join our team on the high seas and see the world from an optional port hole!!!!!

I agree with this comment and hope Royal will not accept that kind of treatment to our beloved crew members! Those are truly ridiculous requirements, especially when everyone on the ship has to be vaccinated.

You think Royal will have a choice, follow the rules or don't sail. Simple as that.

Well I'm glad that putting the crew in crowded cages with a "space blanket" wasn't a requirement.

Maybe I misunderstood, but he kept talking about the color status.  I can understand the quarantining of new crew for 2 weeks (but at the same point, they don’t plan to do that with guests and if everyone is vaccinated.. just saying).  But the other items make no sense unless there is a code red outbreak.  The crew need downtime and to be able not to be locked up like a prisoner.  Just saying....

I just wish the cdc would get over this issue as personally, I still say, safer on the ship if everyone has to prove having to be vaccinated versus a plane where no one has to.
