My Magic 8 Ball says, "cannot predict now". I voted for January 2021 as we have a B2B Caribbean cruise starting 13 March 2021. 🤞

Agree...and I will match that with my Genie's prediction.  😉

Our Cruise is on Harmony of the Seas out of Port Canaveral Dec 13-20th. Our biggest problem will be getting a pre sail test as those are hard to come by in Florida. That being said I am not counting on going this year even though I voted December for limited sailings.

Seems like a lot of bad to unsettling news out today.

Judge told carnival has to submit environmental plan 60 days before setting sail

Costa cruise reported 7 positives. Chartered first week and some did a b2b, one guy rushed to hospital very ill. Last I heard pax were quarantined on ship sitting in italy, and they are all french nationals.

And now msc grandiosa reported 1 positive, I hope is false, but Malta denied them from coming ashore.

None are rcl specific but doesnt bode well for fast reopening as some hoped. I also heard cruiselines need to take financial responsibility before they can cruise from usa which they havent. I want cruises to reopen, I hope I'm wrong. Tomorrow it will all go away. 2 different ships reporting positives.

1. Guy on stretcher to hospital from costa

2. 1 positive on msc grandiosa

Had been optimistic but now unfortunately believe it may not be until mid 2021 at the very earliest.  Why, because Royal is upping it's cash flow reserves for more many more months laid up for no sailing.  Hopefully vaccines will be readily available by that time and praying the virus is receptive to therapeutics by then.  Royal can't be happy to provide a less than enjoyable cruise experience to new cruisers who are their target market.  They may never come back.

I voted for December with limited, short duration sailings. That said, if the fall and winter see the spike that is being predicted by some in the medical community, it might get shut down rather quickly and then be a while before we see cruising return to normal length durations with intended ports of call.

You may be correct.  We will be lucky to see cruising by July 1, 2021.  Sure hope our Enchantment cruise in December 2021 will sail.

I think 2 ships reporting covid cases today changes my guess. I think I voted for feb. First real test of how they will handle covid cases onboard., is the costa cruise. We will know tomorrow if italy let's them off the ship to go home to France or how its handled.

at home here we are definitely seeing a spike in cases and hospitalizations and went back to red alert yesterday or maybe was 2 days ago here in dallas. That cant help either if we cant contain cases after all this time..

I heard a more positive take on the whole positive testing thing. Another utuber who said canc the 2nd leg of the costa cruise was more about the french getting home while they could because of a new french curfew and pax were worried they couldn't get back to France.

He said all protocols followed perfectly and those who were positive transferred to a pre arranged hotel while they were positive. The rest of the ship still all tested negative. He thought it was a good example of how cruises handled positive tests, rather than a negative. He said bound to eventually be some cases and now we saw how well they were handled.

I thought that the TAs were told that there could be an announcement this coming week on the restart

Idk would rcl start by itself here or maybe with someone else?

Ccl just got told by miami judge they couldn't sail for 60 days and had to do some environmental checks on all their vessels before they can sail from the USA. Some vessels the checklist is over 700 items.

I sure would like to see some rcl cruises restarting. Idk but I'd be surprised if rcl got a actual real start date next week. I wouldnt trust any date until after the election myself and we know who won since one side wants to restart and one doesnt. But sure rcl could say they will restart with next non cancelled cruise, I just am not sure I'd believe it until I saw ships and crew moving.

I hope you are right.

My wishing and hoping has turned into frustration.  6 cancelled cruises this year, with one pending in December, which I don't think will happen.  Not being negative....just reality.  I have tons of offers with RC & Casino Royale.....all very tempting, but i won't book until I actually see a ship sail.  Even then, with all the restrictions and perhaps sailing at only 50% capacity, how long can the cruising industry hang on???? it makes me all very sad....

I agree. With the way the numbers are trending upward in the US in general and in Florida in particular, it's not looking good.

Don't feel alone...15 cruises cancelled for me so far.  Have 12/6 still booked, but don't give it hope that it will go.  Will be waiting on announcement and yet another wait for refund.  Very frustrating.  And no, I have not booked any new cruises since the shut down happened.

RCL Oct released info Sunday. Start Dec 18th. Google the release information.

However. Guess you will have a stupid looking sun tan at the pool. here is one of the rules.

Face Masks
Face masks are required in all areas of the pool deck unless you’re in the water, where you should continue to observe physical distancing

Just walked down to get my mail and it's snowing here - several inches already. Going to be a very long winter if it's starting already. I was hopeful for my late Jan./early to mid February cruises until the numbers started spiking out of control. Things do not look good. Most states are surging and our medical specialist (from the University of MN) says the next 6 to 12 weeks are going to be really bad. I don't think that any cruise line is going to take the chance of starting up if a large portion of our country is surging in cases. And that doesn't even address the ports who will not want us. I'm beginning to think that we will probably wait for a vaccine - especially if it will be out in the next several months. Yes, I know it will take a while to get it to everyone and it will not be 100% effective. But, if a vaccine will be available in the next several months I don't think the cruise lines will take chances cruising without it. Better to wait and have a business than rush and have things go bad.

After the vaccine(s) hit the so called general population in mid 2021. Sailings will resume with no vaccine no sail no exemptions and no refund either to force your hand and the use of this so called health passport app being created in Germany.  The requirement for the vaccine will likely be in the T&C's of the trip.  Which means no refund if you are in violation.

Though that stance could be a problem in some countries were vaccine is rumoured to NOT to be given to all persons. Though I am sure the private profit sectors will make up any vaccine gaps.
