Mens dress code in MDR

I’m sure this question has been asked by many wives. Can men wear dress shorts and a polo shirt in the MDR for dinner? I don’t understand why this has to be so difficult in my house!

We have seen that combination on numerous occasions in the MDR. Personally, I find the dining room a bit too cold (temperature wise) for shorts, but then we are in Florida.

Your significant other has a valid concern.  When people dress down in the main dining room, it drastically changes the taste of your meal.

I saw that years ago, but haven’t seen it since. But, I’ve never sailed RCL before.

Just make sure to have one pair of long pants just in case . 

Bring a pair of unfaded black jeans . Goes with everything.

Ive worn them with a sports jacket on formal night . 

You dont need formal wear much anymore . 

Polo or collared shirt work just fine.

Can't answer what may happen when you are onboard, but I always wear shorts and a golf/polo style shirt the first evening. All evenings going forward I always wear dockers and a golf/polo style shirt. We stopped dressing formally after our 2017 JOS cruise.

The outfit you describe is acceptable at formal nights even. Shorts in the MDR on Royal not a problem despite what some may try to tell you.
