Cashing out your bank at the casino- am I being skimmed?

Greetings from the Caribbean Princess!  Im hoping for your thoughts on this scenario with regards to cashing out your bank at the casino.  Yesterday I cashed out $340.80 and the cage employee stated $380… yah ok . Entered my pin, signed my name and received $380.. I didn’t question my non-mentioned .80 cents.  Today i cashed out my bank again for 56.86  same cage attendant and yes same statement $56… this time I asked and said “what about the change?” And he said all money has to be cashed out by end of cruise .. ok this is day 3. Oh whatever I then said keep the change as your tip.  He said thank you… but I really feel like he’s skimming when people cash out.  Also I do not receive a copy of my receipt when I cashed out, never provided never offered.  In prior cruises I always had a cash out slip copy.  Should I mention this to the casino manager? Or just .. forget about the change.

You mean $340 not $380? 
Under a dollar cashout? maybe others can advise.

This is very common in my experience with the cashiers on Princess lately. They will cash out just the ‘whole’ dollar amount, especially if you are not at the end of the sailing. It may be to keep them from dealing with a lot of ‘change/coins’. 
 

You can always ask to be cashed out for the full amount and you should always receive a receipt.

 

it may also be a way for them to keep you coming back to the casino and might be tempted to play more

I cashed out twice on the Caribbean Princess a month ago.  First time I didn't get change and the amount was rounded down to the nearest dollar.  Second time I did get the change (I didn't ask for it).  I didn't get a receipt but could have asked for it as it was tossed out.  I got what I was expecting so I didn't have a problem not getting a piece of paper.

 

I didn't think much about not getting the change.  Many land casinos have gone the route of not giving change, primarily by reprogramming their machines to spit out a ticket for the change and only dispensing bills.  You can get change by going to a cashier but most people don't.

We always ask for the change.  It is estimated that the Las Vegas casinos make from 7 million dollars to 12 million dollars a year just off of small change left in slots machine that people do not bother to get a cash out ticket and cash in.  

 

I am sure it is just another way for the casino to add to the profit line.  We have never been asked about rounding it up or down to the nearest dollar?

Ah, but for whoever is on the take, the casino or the cashier, 80 cents from every passenger that cashes out could add up to quite a chunk of change at the end of the night, or at the end of the cashier's contract.

We stay at the Cosmopolitan in Vegas and the redemption machines had an option to donate the change to a charity of your choice listed on the screen. We always did with no issue.

 

Whenever I’ve cashed out at the end of the cruise always got the full amount including change.

Princess' reputation is more important than the change.   They should give you the change.

Did you receive $340? Or $380? If you got $380, you're ahead...don't kvetch.

Princess casinos.

I have cashed out at the end of the cruise - the night before disembarkation - and didn't get the change either. When we didn't cash out and had to wait for a check we got the full amount. I agree that the change from all passengers can add up to quite a windfall for the casino. I sincerely doubt the cashier is the one getting the money.

We run into this whenever in Vegas. I always make it a point to go to the cage and get my change. Looking back this is how I mafde my first million, by being frugal and pinching pennies.

I noticed this a couple of cruises ago and started playing down my bank until the amount of change was 20 cents or less.

also the unclaimed change will go to St. Jude.

In May on the Royal, I was asked if I would like the change donated to One World Kitchen. I was also asked if I wanted a receipt for the cash that I received. I was happy to hear that the amount of loose change would go to a worthy cause AND I declined a paper receipt.

For me:  cashing out I’d-cruise, I am generally given just the dollars.  When I cash out at the end, I receive the change.  I have always gotten a receipt.  So t you have to sign and acknowledge cash out?

 

As others have asked, if you got $380 for $340.80, then you are way ahead of the casino.

Play the tables. No change to worry about and way better odds when you play craps. But yes, I would expect to receive the full amount including the change.

Is this a fact? I would give my change every time if I knew it would go to St. Jude or another children's charity.

Just returned from the Majestic Princess to Alaska.  When it came to cashing out, we were paid the dollar amount and asked if we would like to donate the change to charity.  We opted for the charity.  The thought had crossed my mind later to ask about the name of the charity but I just figured that Princess would be honestly donating to a credible charity.  If it is St. Jude like someone mentioned above, I am very happy to hear that as we are great supporters of this charity.
