Good morning friends!  It's s beautiful sunny day as the Zaandam heads to Sydney, Nova Scotia today.  A little cool but soon these temps will feel warm as the days get colder around Greenland and Iceland.  Thank you Rich @richwmn for our Daily and Fleet Report!

Today we have a 3 and 4 star Mariner reception in the Crow's Nest at 11 am.  Then at 1 pm the Cruise Critic roll call meet and greet in Explorer's Lounge.  So far things are going smoothly here on the ship and I hope to keep it that way.  Maybe we could have a Dive In burger for lunch today to honor this day.  And perhaps some watermelon, though an ice cream cone is my preferred dessert.  Yum!

Lenda @Quartzsite Cruiser I will do the links and photos on Wednesday for you if you wish.  I can manage doing that a few times if needed but can't always be 100% sure I can do it so appreciate your help while I'm away.  Hoping internet is working well that day!

Extra prayers for Lou, Baby Murphy, Chuck and Maureen's DH this week.  And for any others who need them know I include all my Daily friends, my DB and friend's DB Mark.  Thanks to Vanessa @JazzyV, Tina @0106, Dixie @summer slope, and Ann @cat shepard for continuing your work making the Daily what it is!

Thanks to all for the silly memes each day!  DH and I almost choked laughing at the 34 year old Escort one Lenda!  Smiling is good for us all.  Have a great day out there!

Good morning Dailyites.

Prayers lifted for baby Murphy, Lou, Sam, Tana, @marshhawk DH, and sweet "S", and all others on our ever growing cares list.

I hope Debbie, Sue, Sandi and Dennis are having a wonderful cruise. Send pictures!

The reply's from ya'll about staying in the yard with your fur kids is appreciated.  Our little Oliver is 6 pounds and I'm worried about the hawks here. I don't know if they could pick Oliver up but I don't want to take that chance.

Tonight we are going with friends downtown for prime rib night, so no hamburgers for us. I love avocados and will not go out of my way to eat watermelon.

Wishing every one blessings on this last day of July. Be kind. Love one another.

Good morning, thanks for the Fleet Report and Daily!  Who doesn't love a mutt?  I'll let others have my avocados - just not a fan.  Yes to watermelon, especially with a sprinkle of salt.

We've got overcast skies and high humidity this morning, so I'm wondering if it's going to open up and rain on us in a short while.  According to the forecast, we should hit a high of +31 (87F), so maybe the clouds will just burn off and the sun will shine - who knows?  DH has to go for bloodwork late this morning, so I'm going to tuck an umbrella in the car just in case.

Lots of folks to keep in our hearts today:

@cruising sister for baby Murphy

@marshhawk's DH as he finds out about the proton treatment

@smitty34877's DH who will start chemo

@Sharon in AZ's family member with a situation that needs care

And happy thoughts for @Mr. Bostonas you go through your last week of work - I remember mine, and hope you have a good time over the next few days.

@cat shepardsafe travels home today.

Not a lot happening at our house today, although we might head over to Walmart because I think we must have given away all the big kick balls we had, and there's nothing that says family more than a good old fashioned game of kick ball in the back yard.  LOL

I'd like to try the drink of the day, and love James Suckling's instructions for the wine: "Drink now."  I like the menu suggestion, and just as an aside, my Mom always said to never overwork the ground beef, just like pastry dough - only mix it until it holds together.  Well I got the burgers right, but the pastry still eludes me.  I think we'll have burgers on the barbecue, accompanied by cabbage/apple coleslaw that we'll enjoy in the pergola tonight.  And wine.

Prayers for everyone who is in need, cheers to all with celebrations.

Smooth Sailing! ☺️☺️☺️

Good Monday morning to All!  Thanks for the daily and fleet report.  While I love mutts, I love cats better but will celebrate them by petting Martina more.  I am an avocado lover; in fact made some guacamole and avocado crema yesterday in prep for tonights dinner - chicken rolled tacos (or as I call them taquitos).  I have successfully grown 2 pits out of the hundred I have tried to grow.  First one died because I moved from one city to another in China.  The second one died when I cut it back as directed.  I have another growing now that I cut back and I am not sure it will survive.  But I have another 2 trying to sprout in water and 8 in damp paper towels in a ziplock bag under the sink.  I have one of those sprouting so we will see.  As you can tell, I usually have avocados around the house.

image.thumb.jpeg.d6300d03725252ee5cf062e62aebe0d2.jpeg

I killed this one!!  I buy the small watermelons and occasionally put salt on them.  I may try grinding meat to make hamburgers but I usually don't eat them on a bun.  Rodney is hilarious.  The martini - oh, that sounds good as well as the affordable wine.  Never been to Brazil.  I don't think I would be here if the pilgrims didn't make the trek across the pond!!

Nice rain last night but only lasted maybe 20 minutes.  Alexa didn't say a thing though.  It is supposed to be cooler today with the high only around 100 but the humidity is up; presently 59%. The massage yesterday was so appreciated. Today it is time to get ready for a busy week.  I have a "classroom mgmt" class tomorrow and I need to go to San Diego Wednesday to see if I can be in an osteoarthritic knee study.  Hmmm.  Every morning I have to look to see what day it is!!  It reminds me when I worked in hospitals as there were no weekends or holidays in my world.

Thoughts for Baby Murphy @cruising sister and congrats @Mr. Bostonon making it to your last week of work.  Thoughts for everyone on the care list and cheers to those sailing and celebrating.

Have a great day everyone.

@Seasick Sailor Oliver is little and if you have hawks, you need to be out with him.  When I lived in Decatur GA, I saw a hawk come down and take a dog, while on it's leash away from his owner.  That owner did not let go, but I'm pretty sure, that dog was seriously injured.

I also saw a hawk take a rattle snake away from one of my cats, she too hung on for dear life, but thought better of it, and released the snake.  Decatur was a small town, that turned into a little city, and bulldozing down the forest area, made for some interesting wildlife in the suburbs.

I much prefer the 3, 4 & 5 star reception in the Crow's Nest. The Pinnacle class uses the darker and no view Billboard lounge.  Please keep us posted as your wifi allows. You have a great summer escape itinerary.

It may depend on how many are planned for the reception. When we were on the Koningsdam December 2021 it was held in the room on the Port side off of the Crow's Nest.

We did get the expected call with DH’s surgery time tomorrow- 12:20 with 11:20 arrival. Very relieved!  Once in the mountains house we had a 0530 check-in, had to arrange to come the day before. This setup should be easy!

Blessings for Baby Murphy and family. And Terry and Lou, and Annie and Chuck. And all in need of healing, comfort or hope. And Terri’s AC!  Thanks everyone for being here with all your support.

Smooth travels to all away, and cheers to those celebrating 🥂

I was at the Dangerfield Club once in NY. I like avocados and watermelon but not together. We were in Recife 2013. It was impressively hot!  I think that was when I realized I couldn’t enjoy an Amazon River cruise.

Thanks for all the beautiful pictures!  Have a great day everyone. m—

I am up early and it is a beautiful morning. Today they are planning on taking Murphy off ECMO. We are all praying it all goes well. I am glad I came up here to visit. Tensions are high and I am a distraction from their worry.

Prayers for Baby Murphy that all goes VERY well 🙏

Happy Monday Morning Dailyites!  We are up early for DH's appointment, maybe too early, but we leave in 2 hours.

Best wishes for Chuck’s appointment 🙏

@Seasick Sailor if you have hawks, you definitely want to be outside with little Oliver to keep an eye on things.

Good morning everyone,

It's been a busy few days here. Today is my son's 47th birthday and we did a late lunch/early dinner yesterday. The menu was Spinach and Ham Enchiladas and sopapillas. Another friend joined DS, DDIL and myself and it worked out well. It was my first teary day yesterday in quite a while. I really missed DH and I guess it's because it was the first occasion we were celebrating without him. I'm strong and my eyes only leaked occasionally so that's good.

I'll be on a BHB in 5 weeks so looking forward to it. A new experience cruising alone but it's the Westerdam and the same ports we've been to numerous times so no pressure to go, go, go.

Off to get ready and head in for water aerobics this morning and then a couple of errands.

Have a good day everyone!

Good morning. Thanks for the Fleet Report/Daily @richwmn.

Mutts can be great pets, I like avocado (particularly as guac) and watermelon is refreshing on hot summer days. Funny/sad quote. Yes to burgers! I'll pass on the drink and take the wine. I haven't been to Recife.

The weather is lovely today. It was in the high 50's overnight. It's now 69F and sunny, with low humidity. I might think about mowing the lawn later. I was up this AM to watch my friend Ruth's memorial service from the UK. Of course a few tears were shed. I was surprised to see a casket brought in, as she was cremated and I expected an urn. The service was short but moving.

@Mr. Boston Your life's about to change!

@0106 Thanks for the recipes.

@cruising sister Many prayers that Baby Murphy gets off ECMO today successfully. It's great you can be of help to the family. Beautiful photo.

@ottahand7 Lovely photos from Recife.

@cat shepard Safe travels home. Great pictures from your lunch with the birthday girls and walk in the greenway.

@marshhawk I hope plans for DH become clearer, although I know you said he needs to get more scans. Probably good if he can continue to work, as something of a distraction.

@StLouisCruisers Nice of you to check in from your cruise. Hoping for a photo from the CC meet and greet.

@RMLincoln Prayers for a successful surgery tomorrow for DH.

@smitty34877 Thinking of DH and you today.

@luvteaching Happy Birthday to your son! Tears are to be expected on occasion, especially at celebrations like that. And yes, you're strong.

Prayers for the Care List and Cheers for those Celebrating.

Be well everyone.

We had an enjoyable Mariner reception with an interesting couple to sit and chat with, then right outside to order our lunch at Dive In. I caught my daily journal up to date while we waited for the pager to buzz.  Here’s my burger and DH’s hotdog. The CC meet and greet is in 30 minutes!

Good morning a bit late. I have been up for about 4 hours, but just now getting to take a break. Temps are a bit more comfortable... it was 54F when dogs and I walked very early and highs today are forecast for high 80's. We did get one really good hard rain yesterday evening.... it did not last long but was very welcome.

Food all sounds good.... and I have been to Recifie twice. First time on the Amsterdam, second time on the Princendam. Nice pictures. I went to Olinda on the first cruise. Don't remember what happened on the second... I may have stayed on board with a cold.

Diane's service is this afternoon and I have to find something to wear. My wardrobe is pretty limited since I have lost weight. Will also check on the cats later this afternoon. My downstairs neighbor reminded me rather firmly that I can not handle a cat. I know she is right. I am hoping I can get them moved to a more comfortable situation.... the shelter is  just over full at the present time, both dogs and cats. There are 2 really cute dachshunds there... fairly young ... and no takers. Shows how slow adoptions are just now.

Need to get myself organized. I have a podiatrist appointment early tomorrow morning with a new doctor and they want a list of my current meds.  I am really having trouble getting comfortable shoes and need to get the problem with a couple toes straightened out. And I would like to be able to walk comfortable on the Grand Australia.

Take care all. Best wishes to baby Murphy. Hugs to all who need them and keep your feet down and your head up.

Susan

Good morning all!

All of our pets have been mutts, will pass on the avocado and even the watermelon.  We just had the fish burgers last night (good!) so will pass on the juicy hamburger meal too.  Also pass on the drink and wine.  I sound like a party-pooper! And have never been to Reclife or even to Brazil.  😂

We're having another beautiful, mild summer day, I'll probably spend most of it gardening.  DH is working today and tomorrow at the Mariner games, so I'm on my own for dinner.  I plan to take some leftovers out of the freezer and just relax.

I'm fighting off a summer cold (doesn't feel like Covid but will check in a day or two).

I hope you all have a great day.  Continued prayers for sweet baby Murphy.

Good Afternoon from a hot and humid day at the beach. Butit is July in Florida

I think my issues with CC are over (??).   Our really good and long time friends are coming today for a few days. They are taking their camper and will be at Jetty Park. They are coming here for dinner . We were neighbors at 2 different locations. But since we retired, we came to te beach and they are furthe north. So we dont see each other aws much but talk on the phone a few times a week. It will be fun.

@Mr. Boston Enjoy your last week of work. Retirement is wonderful!

@RMLincoln Hope all goes well with your DH tomorrow.

  Stay safe and enjoy today

While the proton therapy did work two years ago, it's not an option this time around.  This doc is also suggesting  immunotherapy.  So far that is two out 3 that he will listen to.  The next doc we see is the oncologist that he has had for years,.  At first he was all gung  ho to suggest the chemo, but when we met with the PA two weeks ago, he too had changed his mind.  Perhaps DH didn't qualify for the treatment, too old, had cancer too long...  who knows.

DH did get a job assignment this morning.  Yeah!  Austin Opera.  Starts Wednesday.  His tests seem to have been rescheduled for another date.  All of this is making us a bit nervous that we will have to cancel the Italy and Greece cruise.  Keeping my fingers crossed.

Good afternoon. We are back from Lou's first chemo treatment. The first drug was given in the infusion center, the second is infusing now for 48  hours with a portable pump. There is a steep learning curve for the patient and the caregiver.

@RMLincoln, Maureen, I will be thinking of you tomorrow  and pray  the surgery goes well for your DH.

@durangoscots, Susan, extra prayers and hugs for you today.

@cruising sister,  Lorraine, prayers for  Murphy  continue

I would love a burger tonight but lack the ingredients.

Take care everyone.
