Doctor straightened it all out, plus we had copies of the consent forms we signed in her office months ago so everything is set, he’s having it done now. It’s all good!

@ger_77 so good you could get DH’s appointment moved up. Waiting is hard. But like me, I’m sure you’re grateful for all the miracles we receive!

@Seasick Sailor, keep moving forward!

Isn’t that the way of it?  She wears the monitor for 30 days and nothing.  😔 Best wishes for Sue tomorrow.

Waiting…. in pre-op. Some disagreements about what procedures he’ll have today. Different needs for anesthesia….
Haven’t talked to his doctor yet. We’re 40 mins behind but that’s not too bad. It’ll all happen and I just need to be present and breathe…. I’m confident she’ll take excellent care of him. He’s really a great patient, and I’m very grateful for each step!

It’s going to be a very long day for you, I’m sorry to say.  😔 Prayers that all goes well today 🙏

And all of this reminds me that I have to update my paperwork, especially as Diane was my local contact in case of emergency.

A hard day for you for sure.  I hope Diane’s cats can find a new home.  I know that will ease your mind a bit 🙏

We stopped in Walvis Bay, Namibia, in March of this year while aboard the Zuiderdam.  Our excursion made one quick stop in Walvis Bay at a lagoon area where flocks of flamingos were present.  We then drove out of town on a very nice coastal road lined with thousands of Palm trees.  On one side was the ocean and the other side was a desert.  We made another quick stop at the highest sand dune in the Walvis Bay Area.  Four wheelers and dune buggies were available for rent.  Our next and primary stop was down the road a few miles at the seaside town of Swakopmund, which was originally developed by the Germans in 1892.  Our first stop in town was at the Kristall Gallery, which displays crystals up to 14 tons that were mined in Namibia.  We next went to the Swakopmund Museum.  After a quick visit at the museum, we then found someplace for lunch before heading back to the ship.  The biggest impression we had of this area was the amount of prosperity we saw.  We rode by numerous million plus dollar homes.

Rabbit, rabbit, white rabbit!  Good morning, thanks for the Fleet Report and Daily!  I'm grateful for girlfriends, have never learned the real way to play Mahjong (only the matching tiles part on the computer), and climbed one of the mountains at Whistler, BC with friends.

Late to the party today, DH was up and down like a jack in the box last night due to stomach issues from the gout medication.  Thankfully the medicine is working and his foot is feeling much better; yesterday I went out and got a couple of bottles of cherry juice capsules that he'll start taking in a couple of days.

I've mentioned he's waiting for an angiogram - well he tells me his angina is getting worse, so I called the cardiac cath lab yesterday to see where he was on the list for an appointment, and that he's not getting any better, but worse.  It just happens there was a cancellation on Thursday this week, so we'll be at the hospital by 7:30 that morning to check him in to see what's happening with his arteries.  Hopefully it's just another stent that's required, which can be done then and there, and he'll be home before dinner that night.

Today I've got breakfast with my colleagues, and DH has a hair cut, but before that it'll be time to close up the house as it should hit a high of +34 (93F).  That means the A/C will definitely be working most of the day to help keep us cool.  I'm not a fan of today's menu suggestion or wine, although I'd take the drink, as it sounds quite refreshing for a hot summer's day.  Because of the heat, I think we'll be having a simple dinner of grilled chicken Caesar salad in the pergola tonight.  And wine.

Prayers for everyone who is in need, cheers to all with celebrations!

Smooth Sailing!  ☺️☺️☺️

Gerry

Sending good luck wishes to your husband on Friday Gerry.

Hopefully he has an angioplasty and only needs 1 stent to relieve his Angina considerably.

Graham.

Good afternoon, everyone!

Sue and I went to a Ceilidh in the Kitchen today in Sydney.  Celtic music - fiddle, guitar, and piano.  The performers were excellent and we both said we’d do it again.

Sue found some dice in the shops on the pier, so we’ll be challenging @StLouisCruisers Sandi and Dennis to Farkle.

I love eggplant parm .  I’ll be saving one of those recipes.  My grandmother made a wonderful eggplant parm and put some Italian sausage in it.

Warm thoughts to all undergoing medical procedures and to those suffering losses.

Good afternoon. Thanks for the FR/Daily @richwmn. I said rabbit, rabbit, white rabbit this AM.

Close girlfriends have been important to me. I used to play Mahjong in college; I still have a set but no one to play with. The only mountain I climbed was Pike's Peak in a car! I like the quote. I'll pass on the meal (not a fan of eggplant), maybe on the drink and pass on the wine. A world changing day in history. I haven't been to Walvis Bay.

Just back from PT. It's 78F out and low humidity, a lovely day. If I can muster the energy, maybe I'll mow the lawn. I had terrible knee pain most of yesterday, and couldn't do much.

@1ANGELCAT There's big National Night Out goings on here. Prayers for your friend Barb for her surgery Friday and future chemo.

@kazu I hope that Ivan's 2nd shot works and enables him to get off the pills.

@Quartzsite Cruiser Nice photos from Walvis Bay.

@smitty34877 Sorry to hear there were a few complications, but good that answers were readily available. Also Oncology nurses are some of the best. I hope DH is feeling reasonable well.

@StLouisCruisers It sounds like a nice little family get together in Texas for DS.

@marshhawk Annie, with all the appointments and issues going on, if you could get out of the dog walking that would free up a little time.

@RMLincoln Prayers that DH's eye procedure goes well.

@Seasick Sailor Prayers for your dear friend and her sister as she transitions.

@ger_77 Sorry to hear the gout medication is bothering DH, but good that it's working. Not good that his angina is getting worse, but good that they can take him for the angiogram on Thursday.

@Cruising-along Good to hear you're feeling better. Wow, great shots of Mt. Baker!

@Heartgrove Best wishes for Sue tomorrow with her stress test. I had something similar and went through all the same tests (negative) about 8 years ago.

@durangoscots I'm sure yesterday was hard. And I hope Diane's cats are quickly placed.

@bennybear Thanks for the photos.

@Mtn2Sea Great photos from Walvis Bay and the surrounding areas.

@dfish It sounds like a fun time!

@cruising sister Thinking of Baby Murphy and I hope she's doing ok.

Prayers for the Care List and a Toast to those Celebrating.

Thank you Rich, thank you Tina, thank you Vanessa, thank you Ann, and thank you Dixie for all your work. And thank you everyone for being here!

Late posting today after a busy morning along with another fitness session. @0106 Tina, I agree with you ordering eggplant when I see it on a menu! When I have a meeting in the evening and need to eat dinner early, Sue will sometimes buy a frozen "Michael Angelo's Eggplant Parmigiana" for me. Not the best but better IMO than the other brands.

Stress Test for Sue tomorrow so will be on late again tomorrow. This will be the last check after her rapid heartbeat epizodes. Of course she wore the monitor for 30 days and it never occurred!

Stay Safe!

- Jack

Good luck to Sue tomorrow Jack.

We have been to Walvis Bay twice, but not on a BHB.  In 2002, it was the next to last stop on the P&O world cruise.  In 2009, it was the next to last stop on the Tahitian Princes cruise from NYC to Cape Town by way of Greenland, Iceland, Dover, etc.  Walvis Bay is a small town, and Swakopmund is the bigger town several miles away.  My pictures will be a collection from both cruises.

In 2000, we took a airplane fight over the dunes and along the coast.  This first picture is of the tallest dune as we flew very close to it.

Salt from salt ponds near Walvis Bay is a big industry there.  These are the salt ponds, and the salt from the ponds that is read to ship.

In 2000, we found a taxi to take us around Walvis Bay and to Swakopmund, while we rented a car in 2009.

These are pictures from Walvis Bay.

The name of this restaurant caught my attention.

A couple more pictures of Swakopmund.  There is a definite German influence here and in Luderitz further south.  The Germans settled this area and mined diamonds at least 100 years ago.

Another tourist area near Walvis Bay is Dune #7.  We did not attempt to climb the dune, just watched the others.  The big ball is driven to the top of the dune, and once the people get in it through the hole in the end, it rolls down to the bottom.  The brave people in the picture are the singers and dancers/cruise staff from the Tahitian Princess.

Finally, from the stern of the Oriana, is Walvis Bay looking toward the dunes as the sun was setting.

Cruzin Terri, do they have the parts, or a replacement unit?

The first thing in the morning turned into 2:45 this afternoon.  He's still in the back of our house working and given who showed up, I am not so sure we will have a working AC unit today. He came with a box and he has been in the same place for the last 45 minutes.

i was on the phone with them trying to get them to came earlier.  No cigar.  The problem is as this late time, if it can't be fixed, another day is wasted. And then we get put on the schedule again.

I am melting and the floors are getting worse.

Good afternoon after a busy morning and early afternoon.  The errands were finished early, but the donut run was not successful.  They are closed today and tomorrow, so I wound up with a coffeecake from the grocery store.  The last load of clothes is in the dryer and once they are folded, that's it for today.

Good morning. The windows are open to a nice breeze and 67 degrees. It is a pleasure.

Thanks to all who wished DH well and sent prayers our way. Vanessa @JazzyV, thank you for his inclusion on the list. This will go on for three months and DH could be on the rotation if you agree. We are managing fairly well with a few complications. The patient portal works well to get quick answers to technical  issues with the pump and for questions regarding medications.

I met my best friend while a student in Boston. We have spoken to each other at least once a day since way back in 1972 when we met.
My DB brought a mah jong set home from Vietnam and the family learned quickly. We played furiously for a few years and then went back to card games with family gatherings. I would love to play again.

Eggplant parm is saved for special occasions here as it is a pain to make whether baked or fried. I will try the second recipe next time though as it has cornflakes for the topping. Thank you Tina @0106.

Today I must get to the grocery store and then start cooking. I think today we will have hamburgers on the grill so I will make potato salad as a side dish.

Have a great day everyone.

Terry, I'm glad you are managing fairly with and that help is available for the few technical issues and other questions.  I hope your DH can tolerate the chemo and not have too many side affects.

I love eggplant parm, and like @kochleffelwill accept any delivery of it, anytime.

I love my girl friends.

Today is therapy, walk the dog, make the lunch, Chuck has a visual visit from the oncologist who is recommending immunotherapy at 2, I have a zoom training class at 3 for two hours, and then I go to work, until 9.

While I enjoy getting the 40 a week for walking the dog, I really hope that my neighbor retires.  I have a string of days this month that walking the dog, just wont happen.  Like yesterday.  I did warn her, it would be a very late walk.  She got home at the same time I did, so she walked the dog.  I need to take away one responsibility to make my life a little easier.  On the other nhand, I need the walk, but it is really too hot for either me or the dog to enjoy.

Annie, thanks for the pictures of Stone Mountain.  The first one with the reflection in the water is stunning.  I hope the dog walking is not too much for you with everything that's going on now.  I also hope the telemed visit with the oncologist will give you and your DH some answers.

I treasure all my girlfriends, one I've had since we were 9 years old.  I've never played Mahjong or climbed a mountain, but my dear Dad climbed Mt. I'll pass on the meal, the drink sounds good and I would try the wine -- sounds interesting.  Have never been to this port -- thank you Lenda @Quartzsite Cruiser for the great photos!

Stay Safe!

Jack, wishing Sue a good outcome with the stress test tomorrow.

Debbie, I'm glad you had a fun day in Sydney, and thanks for the pictures.  Don't beat Sandi and Dennis @StLouisCruisers  too badly at Farkle while they are learning. 😉

Terri

Terri, I hope they can get the a/c fixed today, and if not make a place on the schedule asap to finish the repair.  Are they going to cover replacing the ruined flooring?

Joy, I hope your friend's sister is comfortable during her final hours.  And I hope the family can find peace in the good memories of her.

Well, the sad update is that they sent two of the same boards.  So I don't think we will have AC tonight.  I am so angry.  The man is still out there in hopes that the one board will do the trick.

I am going to be on the phone in a few minutes.

The second board will take another 4-5 days to get here.  Mind you, it comes from Atlanta and has to go to Savannah.  That is a 3 1/2 hour drive.

Figure that out!

@Cruzin Terri oh no!  Yes, you need a miracle!  And deserve one!  Remember to breathe, remember what’s good right now!  Get yourself grounded, it won’t make your problems go away but help you come to them with more sanity. Wish I could bring you some ice cream!

@marshhawk Annie, that all sounds like overload!  But you know your limits and needs so sending you extra strength and courage now.

We made it home ok. DH had some eye drops ( you’d think they’d have done that at the hospital!  But I managed with removing and retaping the shield, then got him some light food and fluids, he’s nodded off. I’ve been texting family and friends. Hoping to know more tomorrow at first followup but reality is it will probably be weeks before we can tell much. One foot in front of the other!

I’ve climbed 2 mountains, not major peaks but significant to me. Couldn’t do it now!  Sandia peak in Albuquerque is about a 4600’ elevation climb up to 10,600’. The trail is about 5 miles, La Luz trail. At the top we walked the ridge across about another mile to the tram and took the tram down!  Other mountain was Boston Peak in southern Colorado near Gunnison where I used to elk hunt, but I got to the top in summer, not in snow.  I think it was 11,800’ but we started from a higher base, camped at about 10,000 so a much easier climb!  If I can find pictures I’ll post them!  Good memories!

Well, I don’t want to count my chickens before they’re hatched but the AC is working.  The temp has gone down from 85 to 82 and the unit is working.  The repairman is still here and watching tree system outside.

I am afraid to say anything for fear I’ll jinx it.

Say a prayer it will continue to work.

Good Evening Everyone, thanks for today’s daily report.  It was a busy in office day but I did manage a walk at lunchtime and enjoy the nice weather.  I’m typically not fond of eggplant.  While on the Zaandam last week I tried an eggplant dish from the Asian section with my meal, it was spiced very well and I thought it good.  I’d have it again.  I hope everyone has a good rest of the day.

We got some sad news this afternoon. Our niece Jeannine, my sister’s daughter, found out that her MS has come back. I don’t remember when she was diagnosed, but she enjoyed several years of remission until now.

She has 3 teenage daughters, has always been very athletic and is a professional photographer. Not to mention the sweetest person I know. This is quite a blow, prayers would be very much appreciated.

A couple of old memories….
not the best pictures but what I could find….
Sandia Mountains are named for Watermelon, the color they sometimes turn in the sunset.
