There was just a post on the site we must not name that had an email from the executive office that the vaping test was over and vaping will not be rolled out .

What site was that on ?  How official was that information ?

I guess I’m a pessimist and believe that this will be rolled out fleet wide at some point

As a note we aren’t prohibited from naming that site, just from promoting its Roll Calls

I cut and pasted this,  removing the group and poster. Sounds promising!

Received this today in response to my inquiry about vaping.

Thank you for reaching out to us.

We are pleased to inform you that the vaping pilot ended on 8/20 and will not roll out. This has been discontinued.

Have a great day.

I heard from a good friend last night that is a big gambler.

"BlueChip exec/rep actually sent us a personal email and text last week telling us the Vaping trial was over and they are not going forward with the vaping in casinos. "

That's great news.

Perhaps now all the posters who said that it was a waste of time protesting and insisting it was a "done deal" will post and give X some credit for listening.

Thanks to everyone who contacted X to register their opposition to this whole idea.

My inside source said the emails sent to Corporate ran about 4 to 1 against allowing the vaping. So yes they must have finally listened to us.

Until they can figure out a way to charge you extra for vaping.  Maybe a vaping section of tables in the casino with a $10 admission fee?  And $2 a cookie.

Royal Caribbean has recently added non-smoking casinos on their Oasis class ships.

True, but they aren’t the main casinos. They are in a different area of the ship and are very, very small.

And on the Oasis a couple weeks ago, they were very empty most of the time.

One of the hotel directors said it is not being rolled out because they could not find enough vapers. Had nothing to do with what the passengers wanted !!!!

At least they listened to loyal, and maybe even occasional Celebrity cruisers, on this issue. Other changes and cuts seem to be a done deal.

They seem to listen just every so often.  Like reversing the dramatic cutbacks in the OVC dinner buffet.

Compolsary AI removed from most cabin grades

Proposed Vaping in the Casinos dropped

Cutbacks in the OBC removed

Trialing of extra cost cookies in the Gelato Bar explained (free cookies remain as previously Gelato cookies are an additional offering).

Ok these don't reverse/address all complaints but it does show that X does listen and will take action.

However just "ranting" on these posts will not achieve anything. If you have a serious issue by all means seek support by detailing it here but then be sure to raise it direct with X using reasoned arguments.

My guess is that the test had little, or no, impact on casino revenue so it was discontinued.  Celebrity has had no issue ignoring complaints that are near universal in the past so don't pat yourself too hard on the back for thinking your complaining suddenly changed their mind about something they were going to roll out otherwise.

I don't believe for a minute this was related to customer feedback.  Just look at how the ships are selling.  Suites and Aqua sell out quickly so they can demand the AI in those categories.  Lower categories generally have lots of empty cabins until after final payment.  They have to have the cruise only fares to sell these cabins.  LIke everything else it's about $$$, nothing to do with listening to the customer.

I’ll beg to differ in that many companies will not do much when it’s a 1 person complaint but when it’s a collective voice, good companies pay attention

I worked for a large automotive company (T) and they had people watching the social media sites all the time for these “loud” collective voices.

Things like Consumer Reports and JD Power are exactly what Cruise Critic is (in my humble opinion)

Alternatively, they found there was no significant revenue benefit from making the change.

If there was a revenue benefit, I doubt the negative feedback would have concerned them.
