Edgeification of current ships

Celebrity has just posted this video of how the current ships will be "Edgeified".

In the cabins, other than a pleasant color change, the only difference I see is that the desks will now have no drawers.

Anyone see anything more?

Thanks, really enjoyed watching.....We cruise on Equinox post refit later this year...

We do hope to quote an old English proverb that they don’t “throw out the baby with the bath water”....

Keep what is good, refresh the worn and tired but keep the spirit and identity of what so many of us equate with X...’Rest, Relaxation, Good food, Excellent service and that’ je ne sais quoi’ which to us defines Celebrity....

When comparing the "present and future" stateroom photos, Its like watching THE WIZARD OF OZ...

Only, this time in reverse.  You transition from the world of color, into the boring, bleak, sepia-toned world.

Toto, I dont think we're on Celebrity anymore.

Exactly what I was thinking! 😧

I recommend watching this on mute, so that the music does not influence your judgement.  I'm liking Edge more and more now, at least it has more color!  Some of the designs are ok... I don't mind the casino, but the whole ship? The new cabins are impractical for longer cruises.

Planning to reach Elite on Solstice in 2021, then I'll just do X on occasional shorter cruises, assuming the entertainment doesn't get "odd" on the older ships as well.  Maybe Elite status will come in handy on Azamara.

I’m guessing that is an M Class non Concierge/AQ veranda cabin.  Note it has a chair not a sofa.

Yes, like they do presently. Also, notice there are no chairs on the balcony shown in the regular cabins, so no telling if they got a ‘job lot’ and will be the same as Edge. The one thing that does concern me is the longevity of all the very light coloured upholstery and furnishings throughout the ship, especially with the volume of guests.

The stateroom storage seems very impractical to me.  The desk and closet design???  It looks all modern and sleek in design, but I'm wondering if any of these people have ever spent a night on a ship never mind a whole week plus.  I see it posing a problem on longer itineraries.

I won't experience Edge anytime soon given the prices.  I do have one cruise on the Summit and Equinox right after the edgeifications so I'll be able to get somewhat of an idea.

There isn't a coffee table but maybe that bottom half of the desk can be pulled out and used between the two chairs for room service.  If it's to scale, though, the person in the soft chair would need to be tall or sit on pillows.  The frame around the TV is suspect, too.  I plug in an HDMI cable to watch videos on a 2-week TA; I hope it doesn't mean the port is inaccessible or the TV can't be swiveled.  If that's the case, it's probably a not so subtle nudge to get us out of our cabins.  Time will tell.

Thanks for the posted link.

Looks ok..more sterile

Just realized that the Hoppen decor looks alot like her pale makeup style.. thought that was interesting..

As long as they have a real balcony  we will deal  with the other changes to the cabins like the ikea look furniture module..

.Other areas look updated and clean,  but with a  very pale palette..

We just cancelled our April cruise on the Summit (post edgification). Honestly, I have my doubts about just how much they will be able to do in such a short amount of time.  I was a bit nervous there would still be work going on during our cruise (only the second full length cruise after the dry-dock).  I think I would rather see some first hand pictures after the work is done and then decide for myself if it is worth going on one of the renovated ships.

I have to admit I was more a fan of the old style of the Millenium Class of ships- even before their Solsticeizing.

Michael´s Club- uh- what they plan to this great lounge- even though reserved no for suite quests- almost a sin!

I just came across an old picture of the Olympic Dinning room on board Millenium- now it is Tuscany- oh what a shame- I fear despite beeing Elite Plus,  X is no longer the cruise line for me!

I also hear a lot about this " vibrant" loud- noisy music on board Edge- so be it- there is still Cunard- if one looks for traditional cruises- voyages.

We'll be on Equinox on the first sailing post-refurbishment--our first X cruise.  Now I wish we'd sailed with X previously for a comparison.  At least we'll get to see all that paleness while it's still clean!  LOL.

I am not impressed, not my favorite for a color palate, no drawer in the desk, I am not a  Minimalist, need at least one drawer for cosmetics.  The closets look tiny, I am doing a 14 day trans pacific in April, I guess it will be a test as to whether Celebrity will be my cruise line of choice in the future.

There is not enough storage as it is on the S class ships. Seems "form follows function" is out the window on these Edge revolutionized ships.  Some upgrade to soft goods--upholstery, linens, etc.  is in order. Not so sure the other millions are necessary for the these already beautiful  S ships.

The new cabins in the video look exactly the same as the new Edge ones.

just wondering if when they are refurbed on existing ships only the fabrics will be changed. I just do not know how they will remove all the existing storage in such a short time. I would think to replace everything to copy the cabins on the edge would be way higher than the budget for the refurb.

or maybe my thoughts are wrong
