How to get 3 Captain's Club points?

I don't believe you can get points in other ways than via the cruise itself, based on nights and stateroom category?

However, a short 2-night Bahamas Cruise is an easy way to four points with an inside stateroom. Currently, Celebrity has a promotion for a free Classic Beverage package on select 2-night sailings in 2020, the first one already sailing on January 16: https://www.celebritycruises.com/promo-controller?contentPromotionId=promotion-140. Prices are from 129$pp and up to 179$pp (excluding taxes and port fees), but only five specific sailings.

Can reach elite tier with 3 more points.  Next cruise is 12 nights.  Is there a way to get the 3 points added during the cruise?  Any ideas.  Thanks.

You will have to book a short cruise if you want to be Elite on your 12 day cruise.

We did that in September 2012. We booked a 2 night repositioning from Amsterdam to Southampton. We had never been to Amsterdam before. We flew in early morning and took a canal cruise before we embarked on Celebrity Constellation. We booked an inside cabin, so only earned basic 1 point per day, but all we needed was 2 points to reach Elite.(Captains Club points were a different scale in 2012).

Insides earn you 2 points per night, hence a 2-night sailing in an Inside would get OP 4 points. I don't know if this was changed from 1 to 2 points at any point, I have only done two Celebrity cruises (both in 2019), both gave 2 points per night in an Inside.

As stated the only way is with an additional cruise being booked. I'd question if the total expense of organising even a short cruise would be worth the value of the elite benefits though. Though I appreciate only you can answer that.

You will have to wait until after your 12 night cruise.  As mentioned, you could take another cruise beforehand.  But will the expense of this additional cruise be worth the benefits.  Only you can decide but do your math.

I would have to agree especially in winter months when flights and pre cruise hotels are at a premium unless of course you can drive to the port.

They will definitely not add the 3 points to your sailing even if you're 1 point from Elite status. Cruise will have to be completed and points will be added approximately 10 days later.

Figure out if the Elite status is worth chasing after if that is all you are after.

if you are sailing with a bev pack the happy hour isn’t needed. .

The breakfast break isn’t anything special.  It is just a continental breakfast.   We have been Elite and now + and have rarely used that perk because of our drink pack and other places for breakfast,  Luminae, Blu and the same things are in the buffet, and other options are the Spa Cafe or room service.

the laundry is a nice perk but not worth chasing after.   Cheaper to pay for it than pay hundreds for a short cruise.

We were in the same situation and booked a short cruise prior to a 14 day cruise.   Prior to both drink packs were offered as a perk that we were able to add.    We decided to keep the short one to become Elite.   From our personal experience it wasn’t worth doing for that but the short cruise was nice.

Hope this helps.

If you read my full post you should have noted that the points scale was different in 2012.

The reason that I wanted to become Elite was due to priority tendering.

We had had to wait 3 hours to get off Eclipse in Split in 2010. I vowed then ‘Never again.’

Priority tendering isn’t what it used to be.  A few years ago you were given a Priority ticket and were able to go the the head of the line, or the CC rep escorted you to the head of the line.  Now there are so many Elites and E+ that hasn’t happen on our last half dozen cruises.

What we have experienced is Elites and +s go to the MDR and are given a number a d when a tender is available a group of 15 - 25 are taken to that tender.  We have experienced waits of 3 -4 minutes and waits of close to 1 hr.  Clearly better than a 3 hr wait but not just get off when you are ready.

As wrote in other posts all of those priorities are fluff and almost useless as many others have the same.

All of the Elite and above, CC , AQ, and Suite passengers, and even those that paid for some new add on package that gives priority.   Granted many have redundant because they are elite and in a suite and etc but don’t think Elite will get you off first.

Is there a shorter cruise immediately preceeding your 12day :)...maybe you could make your 12 day vacation 19 days 🙂

I seem to recall reading that if you earn a new CC status on part 1 of a B2B, then that new status level is honoured on part 2 of the B2B, but I don't have personal experience with this.

You re correct. Though you might have to visit the captains club host to have your changes applied whilst onboard. It's not an issue though.

One way to pick up some extra points may be dependent on your cruise location.   When you add a pre-post cruise tour like the Alaska Pre or Post cruise you accumulate the same number of points for your Cruise Tour per day as you do for your room.

We added our cruise tour as we were going to be 1/2 day short of hitting Zenith so am certain of this.

If you are willing to pay a little, you can get off much earlier. Just book the least expensive morning shore excursion with X. Then as soon as you are off the ship, tell the guide you aren't feeling well and are going back. Then go and do whatever you want to do. Since there is usually a short, walking or city tour for under $50 that would be a lot less than taking a short cruise before hand. Of course the cruise would be way more fun.

For those that don't think it is worth it to get to elite, that's all based on whether you have a drink package or not. And Elite Plus is totally worth it if you don't have an internet package. With our free T-Mobile cell coverage in just about every port in the world and our 240 minutes each of Elite Plus WiFi, we rarely ever purchase an internet package anymore. And with the free drinks in the evening and free specialty coffees, we often skip the beverage package as well.

The worst problem with being Elite Plus is even thinking about trying another mass-market cruise line as we get no perks at all. :classic_rolleyes:

Thanks for all the information.  Mostly likely will just wait for the Elite status.  It is very helpful know all the details everyone provided.

Just go along for the ride and when it happens it happens. Well worth the wait.

Free drinks in the evening is nice, but what about the rest of the day? 😀

Alcoholic drinks? Nothing. The Elite cocktail hour is between 5pm and 7pm and offers a limited selection of drinks only.

When you make Elite + you are also entitled to free teas and coffees also. Again from a limited selection but served throughout the day.

I do!  We did back to back and on completion of the first 7 day cruise, our elite status was added to our sea pass.  If it's not there go see the front desk or the concierge and it will be done.
