Favorite Memory to Remind of Cruise

For me it’s the Raspberry Ice Tea at Cafe Bacio which I love.  I love the tea, the presentation and relaxing watching the sea pass by.   After my last cruise I ordered from Tea Forte along with the special small pitcher to brew and pour over ice.  Every time I make the tea it remind me of special times and seems to calm me.  Is there something you do?

Walking up in Livorno Italy, still dark, misting and raining outside but looking out on the veranda and seeing the light from Livorno Lighthouse sweeping through the mist.  Beautiful sight.  I still have the picture hanging in my office.

July 2006 Summit Celebrity Suite before the balcony added. Sailing out of Geirangerfjord, Norway after dinner. Our butler brought us dessert. My parents, my wife and children and I sat  In the living room and watched the magnificent scenery pass by through the floor to ceiling windows. To share that experience with the people I love most was one of my life’s most special moments, and I have  been blessed to have many. Thanks for this post which gave me a moment to reflect on a special time and forget for a moment the crisis our world is facing currently.

I enjoyed the Lavazza expresso at El Bacio so I’m getting it in via Amazon as pods. Just reminds me every time I make it up! I also remember sitting with a wonderful 2-3 couples we played various card games with during our TransAtlantic. Wonderful and fun people!

I learned and revised many of my computing skills via the IT specialists in the iLounge.

I am still using my iPad mini bought at a greatly reduced price in their Apple store in July 2015. No VAT and great exchange rate, meant I was able to buy 128GB, as I didn’t exceed UK customs allowance.

I have one remaining bottle of bulgari lotion I sniff occasionally when I become ‘cruise sick’...it reminds me of dressing for dinner then heading to Murano’s to enjoy the wonderful food, fantastic service and the company of family...

 

Best cruise memory is South Pacific, early morning and seeing a whale quite near the ship just before we spotted the peaks of Bora Bora above the morning mist...

Sliding alone the wet wooden promenade deck aboard Fiorita (Chandris cruises) when I was a kid in a very strong headwind and the little ship rolling all over the place. Nowadays the outside decks would be closed in such bad weather. Me and my little brother has a blast whilst many passengers were being sick everywhere!

On honeymoon on Equinox, sailing out of Skagway through the Lynn Canal sitting with my new hubby after a romantic dinner in Tuscan Grille sipping port and watching Alaska go by behind us. He leaned over and whispered in my ear “I’m so lucky to be living this life and have you as my wife.”  ❤️

 

We can’t wait to get back on the seas!

I love stepping on board on embarkation day and being handed a glass of bubbly.  Celebrity is the only line on which I've sailed who does that.  

 

Dancing.  On many sailings, DH and I looked on as other couples danced in the atrium to the evening band.  We would too but we didn't have moves like other couples.  Last year, DH and I took dance lessons so we, too could have moves.  On our 15th anniversary cruise last November, we kicked up our heals on the dance floor every night while onlookers admired our new moves...

 

The first time we stepped foot into a Royal Suite.  It felt so grand and we were doted on like royalty.

So many wonderful memories 🙂  On board we love Al Baccio and the solarium.  Those are my happy places 🙂   Just thinking about that now makes me happy!

Since we are being deprived of one of our favorite pastimes (cruising aboard a Celebrity ship), what will you miss the most?

 

I will miss sitting on the balcony, watching the sunset, and listening to the ocean glide by.

Fond memories...our sail away from Istanbul, Turkey on the Millennium, 1999.  My dad (who was an architect) marveled at all the magnificent buildings all over Eastern Med.  Inside the center of the Pantheon in Rome, I was standing next to my dad who was looking up and staring at the sun shining through the hole in the dome when he said "It was always my dream to visit here..thanks for choosing this sailing."  May he rest in peace...I miss him dearly.

On the Solstice 2015 Vancouver to Hawaii cruise. We had a pre-cruise m&g with people from the roll call. At least 50 people showed up and was a great time. Then almost every evening some of us met at the Martini Bar for drinks before dinner where we formed friendships that still last today. we have cruised together again, some more than others some several times since. Morning Irish coffee on our balcony every morning.

The many cruise friends we have made like Sari & Justin, Mike & Carole, Mike & Linda X3 (we seem to meet lots of Mike & Linda’s), Steve & Julie, Barb & John, Nancy & Gary, Max & Kaz, Tom & Barbara, Dave & Wendy, Warren & Jean, Donna Lee & Tim, Jen and many more who we have shared multiple cruises with and without whom cruising wouldn’t be so special.

By sheer coincidence in 2017 we ended up on a Reflection cruise in the Med with the nephew of our good friend and his newlywed bride. The happy couple was completing a 4 month tour of work vacationing around the world and the cruise was their reward to themselves, so to speak. We arranged an amazing celebration dinner with them at the Lawn Club Grill and the wait staff and chefs pulled out all of the stops!!! Multiple courses, multiple wines and several hours later we were serenaded by the wait staff celebrating the happy couple during desert. I suspect one day they will "pay in forward" and that alone makes me smile....

Just getting on board Solstice in 2018 for our Great Barrier Reef Cruise... we were handed a glass of sparkling wine and we just looked around in amazement.... I said to my wife "Gee this is like a floating 5 star hotel"!

We love the suite experience on celebrity, got spoiled our first celebrity cruise booked a balcony and was upgraded to sky suite, recently did our first royal suite service is amazing in both luminae and micheals .

In these “stay at home” times I was thinking a very similar thought just now, so I searched for this thread I had read. 
Today I made the delicious iced Tea Forté peach mango green tea, with some fresh mango, and my very favorite, is the pear ginger tea over ice to enjoy on our lanai as we look out over the ocean -- it always reminds me of afternoons in Cafe Al Bacio, or on the suite balcony sitting in the tub. 
There is a lot to miss about cruising - and plain ol’ socializing for that matter. 

Not everything is peachy for the cruise lines right now, they haven’t all seemed to always “do the right things” for everyone, and I'm sure our days on Celebrity Cruises are way in the future, but for now I’ll enjoy my tea and think wonderful thoughts of cruises past.
