Royal Caribbean Cruisers -- How Are Things Where You Are? (was "Routine" 😁 day in lockdown... how was yours?)

Recommended Posts

I did see some talk of roller coasters and amusement parks.  We spent two of the last four days at amusement parks.

Friday, we had all the grandkids at Kennywood in Pittsburgh. They have an interesting dual coaster called the Racer, so you are racing with a second coaster.

Pick a coaster, pick a seat.  First ones on for this run.

The grandkids liked the Pittsburgh Plunge the best.  It is a large log type ride that seats four across and five rows.  You are guaranteed to get soaked.

First row, anyone?

It does throw quite a wave at the bottom

Granddaughter was excited to meet Moana. I couldn’t get to boys to go up for a picture.  I even offered to go up with them, or without them. 🤣. They said no to both.

Give them a couple years. 😏

And I finally found somewhere that charges moe for drinks than Royal.

Our second amusement park was a return trip to Waldameer in Erie, yesterday. We picked up one of Susan’s sisters, and volunteered her to ride those spinning rides that we don’t tolerate very well, anymore.

I think our grandson took her on the tilt-a-whirl five times.

He had to put his grandma in the front seat of the log ride.

We could only get him to do the smaller wooden coaster.

Actually, I prefer those old wooden coasters to the steel coasters.

We enjoyed our home made pasta so much a few days ago that we decided to do it again. This time, we topped it with pesto sauce made from fresh Basil in Micheline's garden.  We started though with a home made salsa appetizer, using a recipe from my daugher's chef boy friend.  Looks a little different but tastes so good.

The pesto tasted great but next time, we'll spend more time grinding the basil on the mortar and pestle.  It could have been more finely ground.  We used this recipe.  It's a lot of work grinding everything but I'm convinced that the extra effort makes it taste better.  Served it with a Caesar salad and a glass of Montepulciano.  I'm still stuffed.

Can’t add to the generator discussion except to say DD was in a tent at her most recent music festival. They had RVs on either side of them.  Both RVs had their generators going all night due to the hot weather. Due to the noise from the generators , DD ended up using her sound diminishing earplugs more to sleep at night than to filter the loud stage music during the day.  The RV neighbours  were lovely though feeding and watering the girls constantly with leftover meals at breakfast and dinner and serving them alcoholic drinks in the evening when they were all at the campsite at the early evening at the same time 🍹

Interesting thread over on the Norwegian side of Pearl hitting a fishing boat early this morning.

Lawdamighty, I could literally feel the IQ points retreating from my brain as I read that thread..... it really is terrifying how stupid the general public is.

I think Storm is going to become the new bosun.

New series of Below deck last night on UK TV.

It is in the Caribbean and it started with Captain Lee in hospital after falling in the shower.

He got back to the yacht in time before the first guests of the season arrived.

19°C and cloudy here this morning.

Forty-two years ago today I was doing something I have never done since.  I was headed to Pittsburgh for an overnight stay, then flying out in the morning for a same day flight for my first ever cruise.  It is a good thing airlines were more reliable then.

Susan and I were sailing on the eighth sailing of the SS Norway, which was the largest cruise ship at the time.  We sailed to St. Thomas and Little San Salvador.

Now those were lifeboats

We couldn’t fly down the day before, because August 2nd we were too busy getting married.  I guess I have never done that since, either. 😏

I came to terms years ago with how stupid people can be.  It's much easier to go through life that way.  Every now and then though, I still have to shake my head.  Ron White is correct...you can't fix stupid.

So how is Tuesday so far?  It's Monday evening here and I'm settling in with a glass of wine.  🍷

Sounds like a nice way to end the day.  Cheers 🍷

Today was a good day, the sun was shining and after work DH took me out to dinner because he has been in home quarantine for 7 days.  We sat next to the open fire (it’s the last month of winter here) and had a very nice meal.

aussie, how is your DH feeling?

I think he has got off lightly compared to you Dani.  He had head cold symptoms for a few days, body aches, a dry cough. He feels his breathing is not back to normal yet if he were to exercise but overall I think he was fortunate to have mild symptoms. He certainly didn’t experience  the fatigue, head fog or racking cough that many unfortunately experience.  I hope your cough is starting to go away now as well as any other symptoms you were suffering.
