More Cancellations Imminent?

Yes have had the same email, mercifully a few days before the final balance was due, so less refund trauma coming this time.  No doubt "hunt the missing FCC" will become the new thread at some stage.

Obviously P&O trying to pick up the traditional half term period for schools in October.

I suspect that they are getting confused with August cancellations, which I should think are imminent now that P&O has finally paid out for most of the cancelled cruises prior to then. As the current batch of refunds have been made, albeit right at the end of the 60 days (or later in many cases) I shall be fascinated to see how long it takes for those affected by the next batch of cancellations to receive their money back. There is no excuse left now for them not to start the flow of refunds immediately that they are announced, but I can’t help but feel that they will be made to wait just as long!

We’ve only had 1/3 refunds and waiting for an excursion as well so I don’t think most refunds are anywhere near done yet and now it’s all going to start again at least it’s only a deposit for us this time🤦‍♂️

Just received my email for 4th October cruise. So disappointed as was a special cruise for us and booked two years ago! At least we know now before final payment but I’m rather sad right now.

I believe that there was a real desire to get some of the summer season underway but with Spain and Greece both excluding the UK from their re-opening plans, I believe this was the final straw. Travel agents were formally advised this morning.

Ships will not re-enter service all in one go, even in October. Based on plans that other lines have announced, I personally expect to see a winter season with 2 ships in the Caribbean, 1 in the Middle East and 1 serving the Canaries. I would expect them to use their four biggest ships as there are more public spaces to social distance people.

You may be right about half term but I think it more likely because it allows them to get Azura and Britannia to the Caribbean to start the winter fly cruise season.

I estimate 47 new cases, no more cancellations and Norway cruises in August. Greece have said today they expect English visitors from 1 July.

Care to rethink your forecast  for Norway cruises in August?

Probable that others would follow Spain, Greece & Cyprus given what happened in England over the weekend.

P&O have probably been speaking with the relevant governmental offices in countries that ships visit and possibly finding a reluctance to accept ships with U.K. due to the high levels of infections we still have.

Just had the email.  At least those who have booked for late September and early Oct may not have paid their balances.

Pleased to say that is the case for me. I was due on Aurora departing 12th October. Definitely pleased I haven't had to think about paying the final balance. Disappointed but relieved.

Grrr, wish they had done it to end October.  Mine is the 18th!!

Ours is November 6th so I'm having the same issue Jean. I've already been looking at next year though. The Baltic looks interesting in May.

My balance is due July 20th, so will wait until 18th to see if they cancel any more, then take the deposit onto anything in March 2022 and then move it to something we want to do.

Friends in Phoenix Arizona went out for a meal at a restaurant last night.

My daughter and family went out about 10 days ago in Reno, most things are open, the restuarants are only allowed limited capacity. Casino's in Nevada open this week again with limited capacity.

I'm seriously thinking of maybe paying the balance when due August 8th then transferring it ( plus more probably) to pay for the new cruise. The way the prices are going up it might be the best way for us. My brain hurts😆

We were due on the same Aurora cruise so like you are pleased that the decision has been made. Sadly that means that all our planned holidays for this year have now been cancelled.

Is it just me, or does this feel quite significant?  An eleven week chunk gone - at a stroke.  I somehow don’t see everything opening up like magic mid-October.

Has anyone been keeping an eye on other lines?  I know Princess has announced a lot of cancellations, what about the other Europeans - MSC, NCL, Costa?

Ho hum.  Just going out for a meal would be a treat now but, slowly, slowly ...  It would be very foolish to throw away all the gains from the last 3 months’ pain

That of course depends on flights being available, and under what circumstances.  Can't say I fancy flying to the Caribbean if I have to wear a mask for the duration of the flight.

At least I am back to work starting Saturday.  Although it worked quite well working from home, really glad to be going back.

MSC, NCL are still only cancelled until end July, but I'm sure they will follow.

Looking at this news from a wider context, Carnival have sufficient liquidity  (after securing $6bn or so in loans) to last them until the end of 2020.

If other Carnival lines follow P&O 's lead, the cash pile will be getting perilously low by the end of October. I think I would be looking  for a refund rather than FCC at present!

Received the email about the 15 Oct cancellation. I had a cruise booked on Azura in early October and that is now cancelled. I think the 125% FCC means my £70 deposit is now worth £87.50!. Plus I have the whole of next year or more to splash it on another cruise. I was going to cancel anyway as the deposit was so little. Remember the reference code on the email as you will need it later?

I thought it would be October 31st. Seemed like the natural progression from July 31st. Maybe they're hoping  for the school holidays as another poster said.
