One of the saddest photos i have ever seen.Sovereign of the seas,monarch of the seas,carnival fantasy and imagination.Some of my best memmories crusing were on these ships.

I know how you feel.  We had a fantastic resort we visited 4 times at in Barbados during the 1970's - 1980's.  It is now in ruins.

Went through the same heartbreak with SS Norway years ago.  Clock is ticking for so many other wonderful ships. Our best cruise to date was on Monarch.

Pretty amazing to see 4 functional cruise ships being destroyed. 
2020 the year with no surprises!

Monarch was our first cruise.  Went on her last cruise also.  Been on Monarch and Sovereign so many times.  Great memories

Making room on the seas for all the new ships on order. We used to cry when we saw “our” old ships get shuttered, but no more. It’s a chance to see new products enter the market. Not that new is always better.

Probably a function of being too inefficient fuel wise and environmentally.

It is extra sad to see that the bow has been removed from the Sovereign.

They worked just fine in January and were being sold for the next two years. 
This is a function of a pandemic and feeling that keeping them alive Was not worth the fruit of waiting for the world to be cured of it. It’s basically waving a white flag to the virus. 
This is why it’s so sad.

They may have "worked" but that doesn't mean they were efficient.

Carnival Fantasy was our first cruise, in 1991. We decided after that to focus on land trips, but returned to cruising in 2006.

Since then we've cruised 2-3 times per year, moving up to newer and larger ships. We cruised on Monarch twice and enjoyed those cruises, but I'm glad we've had a chance to sail many of the Voyager, Freedom, Quantum and Oasis class ships.

 

We were looking forward to our May 2020 Baltic cruise from Amsterdam, but we'll see what happens for next year.

I'm a major planner, usually 2 years in advance, but I haven't booked a replacement cruise yet.  Oh, well, we'll see what the new year brings. Meanwhile, we still are healthy and grateful for that.

The horrific situation in Beirut even killed this cruise ship crew.  😪

 

"The Orient Queen cruise ship capsized overnight in Beirut, taking on water at her berth following a deadly blast in Lebanon on Tuesday evening.

 

The explosion also claimed the head office of the ship's operator, Abou Merhi Cruises, as well as the entire Abou Merhi Group.
