Good afternoon. Thanks for the Daily.

Interesting days. I wear shades outside always (except night) due to my eye issues.

I love the quote!

I like the meal and drinks, but no grits right now due to carb restriction.

I have been to today's port, on my Panama Canal trip LA to NY.

I'm back from getting my Covid and flu swab. I felt pretty good this AM as my temp was only 99, but it was up to 100.8 at bedtime yesterday. It creeps up as the day goes on. I have to isolate until results are back.

I've been thinking of Roy all morning.

@summer slope Happy Anniversary! That's a milestone.

@GeorgeCharlie Happy Anniversary tomorrow!

 Prayers for the care list and cheers to the celebration list.

Only a couple of pics since mine are similar to others poster.

Good morning from a sunny, wind still day.  I'll be heading out soon to work in the yard before our rain returns Saturday night.

My thoughts are also with @rafinmd Roy for a safe outcome today and for a speedy, uneventful recovery.

Shades Day is the Family Holiday Association's national fundraising day.

When our oldest DD was in band in high school, the chicken dance was a big part of every band party.  Even the parents chaperoning were included in the dance.

Like grilled shrimp, and we may have that or a version of it tomorrow, but without grits.  Tonight it will be ribeye steak.

Like @dfish Debbie, I think the quote is made for @RuthC. I have some dark chocolate almost every day.  @Horizon chaser 1957 Chocolate, especially dark chocolate, makes anything better, even red wine in some cases.  On our Rotterdam 2020 cruise, there was a zinfandel at the wine tasting that had hints of chocolate (which for once I could taste).  They paired it with a brownie, and wow, both were improved.

@JazzyV  Hope you continue to feel better and that your tests come back negative.

@summer slope  🌹  🥂  HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!

@GeorgeCharlie   🥂  👍   HAPPY ANNIVERSARY, TOMORROW!

We have been to Cabo San Lucas many times, but most were before digital cameras and before Cabo changed from a sleepy, little fishing village that had cruise ships stop occasionally.  The first time we were there was 1995, and difference in the town between then and our last time is unbelievable.  The big tender pier was not there, nor were most of the shops surrounding the harbor.

The last time we were there was in 2016 on the Ruby Princess.  These are the only digital pictures I have.  We stopped there in 2014 on the Veendam, but evidently, I did not take any pictures.

Cabo Wabo, one of the few places that were there in 1995, but it is a lot bigger now.

Two more from the late 1990s and early 2000s.  Senior Frog was at a different location as late as 2001.

Good morning,

Our grandson is online schooling.  Ready to help my granddaughter with her homework. After their "costco" lunch of hot dog and pizza we are getting outside!!

Dinner will be healthier for sure.

Been to Cabo both on a cruise and on our own.  Rented a wonderful VRBO home near there last 2 Christmas's ago for our entire family.  8 adults and 4 grandkids.  Was awesome with a pool, ocean view, huge indoor and outdoor eating areas and each couple our own bedroom/bathroom.

Love the quote.  And days are great also.  Thank you for all your work, Rich on this.

Prayers to all.  Congrats to those celebrating special days and events.

Have a wonderful day everyone.

Good morning, Dailyites, and thanks to Rich, Jacqui and all the others who post.  Happy Anniversary to those celebrating, and prayers are wafting skyward for those on the care list, especially Roy.    I may do a bit of gardening this morning, but only a bit, "inch by inch".  I was thinking about mulch.  When we lived in Maryland, we had red earth (very fertile, but very red!), and I hated the colour, so I would mulch with beautiful dark hardwood bark mulch, which made me think of here.  Now that we are here, we have lovely dark soil, but our mulch is usually quite red, as it is mostly cedar chips.  So I don't mulch, just have to do a lot more weeding, and watering.

Now I want shrimp for dinner, but I think we will have leftover lamb roast.  Maybe I'll add a few shrimp.

We've been to Cabo a few times on cruises.  I'll add a few photos from 2015.

I don't think they do this any more, but it was quite a feat!

They might not climb the pole then spin down on the ropes in Cabo anymore, but as of last year, they were still doing it in Puerto Vallarta.

Thanks Rich for planting the garden song in my brain. It’s churning around in there as I head outside to work. Prayers for all who need them but my thoughts are coming back to hear updates on Roy’s progress today.

@StLouisCruisers When we lived in North Carolina and South Carolina, we used pine straw as mulch.  With so many pine trees, all we had to do was rake the yard and put the straw in the flowerbeds at no cost except a little work.  Later, when we moved to Pennsylvania just across the state line from Delaware, we couldn’t believe the garden centers were selling large bales of pine straw for $10.  We couldn’t see buying what we’d used for free.

In Texas, I use cypress mulch because it is no float, or mostly no float.  When it rains, water ruins into one bed, and cypress is the only mulch that stays pretty much where I put it.

Sandi @StLouisCruisers...."one day at a time" and I just have to be patient and be a 'good' patient for my Caregiver husband, lol! 🙃 I have a follow-up appointment Monday and am hoping for the best. I realize the sooner to start some sort of PT, the better.  😉

😊I enjoy seeing the HAL elevator mats @Horizon chaser 1957 . We stayed at the Villa Group

("Estancia," Arco and Palmar) in Cabo. 👍Good deals are had through Costco and that's how we roll.

😴Back for a nap, Katie

Here we don't have the large pine trees in our yard since this is a newer development where the large trees were removed.  Still lots of trees in the green areas around us though.  When pine straw installation happens each spring, they bring 18 wheeler trailers full of those bales.  They stop every half block and toss a huge pile of pine straw bales onto the curb.  Then the workers go house to house "throwing" it down.  We are always on the watch for any bugs in the pine straw because they show up in the garage.  Our exterminators are on the lookout for us spraying around the house so we don't get an infestation in the garage.  As for the cost, I have no idea what they sell it for here.  But there are plenty of pine trees in Georgia for them to gather it all!

Glad to hear you're being such a good patient!  One day at a time is good advice for most things in life.  Enjoy that nap - it's good for you!

In 2016 on the Ruby Princess, we actually stopped twice in Cabo since we were doing b2b2bs.  The first time, we were in port from 7am to 2pm, and we took a tour to Todo Santos.  We'd always wanted to see the town, and even started to drive there once when we rented a car in Cabo.  Back then the road was a narrow, two lane highway, so we made it about halfway before turning back because we did not want to miss the ship.

By 2015, the road was a very new, very nice four lane highway, so it did not take as long to get to Todo Santos.  The highway runs from Cabo to La Paz where it connects with Highway 1 back to the US.  They run tours from Cabo and La Paz to Todo Santos.  I thought I'd add some pictures of Todo Santos, a very clean town, at least the part we saw.  It is one I'd recommend visiting if you have a chance.

 IIFC, this is their museum, but I don't have pictures inside.

Which brings us to the hotel, where we had a very early lunch that was delicious.  The hotel was not the one in the Eagles song "Hotel California".

Back on the ship as we headed toward San Pedro, a picture of the houses facing the Pacific Ocean on the other side of the hill behind Cabo.  We drove through the area when it was first being developed.  It has really grown.

I would use cypress mulch if I could get it. Most of the commercial mulch here is just dyed wood chips, and I have undyed wood chips just from chipping prunings and brush. However, rubber is the only commercial mulch that I won't use.

Good news!!!!

Roy (rafinmd) is out of surgery and in recovery.

The doctor said his surgery went well. 🙂  I am doing a happy dance (not chicken dance) for him.

I’ll report as I know more.
