You do realize air quality in cruise ships is considered bad?  Exhaust gases, chemicals and tobacco smoke all find their way into interior spaces and X does not even use HEPA filters...You're not wrong but the impact is a drop the bucket

Perhaps a good reason to avoid cabins behind the smoke stack in the back ...

There are apparently younger people that like to vape and IN PART it appeared it could be geared to attracting a younger demographic, in addition to gamblers.

As is most everything Celebrity seems to be doing these days.

I would like to hear from anyone on the current Equinox sailing who can confirm whether or not the vaping signs are still gone or have been returned to the casino now that last week's cruise is history.

I'm not on the ship but Andy, who used to post all the time on CC, is on board now.  He check and did not see any signs in or around the casino re vaping.

Yes, and he reported that there was definitely vaping in the casino on his cruise, but that the cruise immediately before his, the casino staff told him, had even more vapers.  Very helpful to have him on the Equinox live now giving a thorough account of all aspects of the cruise, including the MDR menu.

I sent a follow up noting the exact cost of our three cruises in a CS and my asthma.  My doctor would not approve of second-hand vape 💨 for me.  I play craps every night on a cruise and will switch our bookings to DCL if this is an issue.

Yes, however, Disney doesn't have a casino - if still playing craps is important to you.

Is he posting a live review somewhere?  If the signs are still gone, then I guess word-of-mouth is catching on.  Otherwise, how would people know?...unless the Let's Clear the Air smoking blurb in the embarkation planner still mentions vaping being allowed in the casino...

Yes, as I noted earlier in the comments September will be my 11th DCL cruise.  My Wife will hit her 25th by year-end.  I can live without craps in the evenings if it benefits my health.  After our June Alaska DCL cruise, we decided the food is better than Luminae and Palo/Remy is equal to Murano et al.  Couple with more adult options being added to retain customers that now have grown children and it has become a more well-rounded option.  I do not see this as a crusade to save RCL from themselves, it is simple capitalism, other options exist.  Generation X is on another cruise line doing a live review right now...

Couldn't agree more and I have said this quite a bit lately.  But there aren't really any options in the mass market arena that don't allow smoking in their casino...which has always been the draw to Celebrity for us.  We also enjoy MSC...but they allow smoking in the casino.  We have enjoyed NCL...but again, smoking.  A ship without a casino is not for us...if no casino, I'd rather do an AI land vacay.

@GenerationX review?  What other cruise line would that be?

Host Andy IS posting a live review, and I very specifically said where you can find it a day or so ago, but the admin deleted what I wrote - because apparently it is on a social platform that I am not supposed to mention  - so I believe you can take it from here!

To be fair to NCL...we were recently on the NCL Joy, and, yes, they did allow smoking in the Casino, but only within their glass enclosed smoking area. You could obviously smell it a bit in the hallway outside the doors to the smoking area, but to say they "allow smoking in the casino" is a bit inaccurate.

When we sailed on NCL (Breakaway, Epic and Escape) there was no smoking enclosure.  On MSC, there is a nonsmoking area separated by the casino bar and a walkway (Seaside) and there wasn't really any smoke but there also weren't any games I liked.  We will be on Seaside again beginning August 6th so I guess the smoke really isn't stopping me.  And I think this is what Celebrity is counting on...people like me who don't smoke or vape but enjoy the casino...will continue to go to the casino.

NCL allows smoking in the casino on all ships but on three ships, the Joy being one of them, they have a dedicated casino smoking area

Were you able to find his page/group, in order to follow him?  I know you have to request to join.....if you need more help, I can try to be more subtly subtle with my clues, in order to not have my reply to you deleted again?  😅

Time to move on from mass market lines I guess.

One reason I prefer Celebrity among the mass market lines is because of no smoking in the casino. I won't go into a casino if there is smoking. If Celebrity allows vaping which is smoking as far as I am concerend while I will still cruise on Celebrity it won't be my prefered mass market cruise line. For Bermuda cruises for example I will add NCL as an option. And so on. I have had pretty good cruises on Princess. So I would chose them again for a lot of itineraries. HAL too.

An excellent point, Ms. Peaches. For every 10 non-vaping/smoking gamblers onboard, if 4 or 5 are not bothered by smoke enough to keep them out of the casino, then perhaps that is sufficient for Celebrity to justify puffing indoors. Might all the ranting and raving and huffing and puffing against this serve no purpose? That remains to be seen.

Just got the standard reply from Celebrity. Like so many here I feel this is a done deal even with all the negative feedback that they seem to be getting.

Unless passengers with future booking are willing to cancel ( my husband and I are ) if this " test " is approved will make very little difference to corporate how many dislike.

Final payment in early Oct. for next X cruise so hope cruise critic will be active about casino vaping ( soon to be smoking too ) after the 20th of August. The slippery slope and human nature will make this activity spread to other indoor areas.

Elite + status not worth that much anymore.

Have no personal reference to it other than friends say vaping is happening for sure on other cruise lines outside the casino went it is allowed.

Just going with the human nature aspect . Also the last line of my form letter from X said " thank you for the feedback on our recent change". No word test in that statement which enforces my belief that " it's  a done deal "

Has this happened on lines that have always allowed smoking in the casinos?

Guaranteed!

HAL has a small casino smoking section in all but four of their ships. When entering our cabin on the Rotterdam last February, we went out on the balcony to watch others boarding the ship. When I returned around to go back into the cabin, I found a plastic Coke bottle completely full of cigarett butts shoved clear up into the corner. Needless to say the cabin attendant was embarrassed but, clearly the previous passenger in the cabin had no respect for anyone except his/her entitled self.
