The Fleet Report and Daily for Monday September 18th, 2023

Good morning from a cool central Texas.  This is the lowest overnight temperature since last spring.  The weather app says it's 64F and feels like 64F with 87% humidity and a dew point of 60F.  It is sunny and the high will be in the low 90s this afternoon.  Before it gets too warm, I'll be back outside pulling up more crabgrass.  Such fun, but it's necessary to get rid of the majority of the crabgrass since it just "laughs" at any weed killer we've tried.  😁  After today, I think my arms and legs will need a break from weeding, so one morning Ms Crystal's auto repair will open just long enough to replace the remaining coils on the convertible.

Since we had cheeseburgers last night, I'll need to fix something else for dinner today.  DH and I enjoy rice Krispie treats, but I haven't made them in years.  We should respect everyone every day.

The Groucho Marx quote brought a smile to my face.

We'll pass on the meal and the drink.  I would like to try the wine, and the price isn't too bad either.

We have not been to Bimini.

Today is an important day in Irish history, and with Irish ancestors, I'll celebrate with them.

@kochleffel  Paul, I hope you feel better today.

@puppycanducruise  Melanie, I'm glad your niece's wedding was lovely and that the rain held off until after the photos were taken.

@StLouisCruisers  Sandi, I hope you have a safe and uneventful flight tomorrow.  I looked at the weather for Frisco, and the highs this week will be in the low 90s with lows in the low 70s along with partly cloudy skies.  There is no rain in the forecast for now.  I'm glad Ren got to play in yesterday's game and scored two goals.

@kazu  Jacqui, I'm glad you sustained minimal damage from Lee.  It was disheartening to see your pictures yesterday of all the downed trees.

@Crazy For Cats  Jack, can the damage to the model be repaired?  I bet that's the last time DH locks Jasper in his office.

@Denise T  I'm glad you are over your bug, Denise.

@aliaschief  I hope you have a safe and uneventful flight(s) home today.

@marshhawk  Annie, I hope you enjoy the symphony.

@dfish  Debbie, I'm glad you enjoyed the shower and got to see your nephew yesterday.

This last one reminds me of some of Dr. Pol's patients.

Good morning.

if I don’t post now, it might be midnight again before I get the opportunity to do so.

Thank you to Rich, Vanessa, Debbie, Dixie, and Ann for your contributions and to keep this thread going.

The days are interesting.  I like Cheesburgers but have not had one lately.  Usually just a plain hamburger.  Have not had Rice Krispies Treats, but used to like Rice Krispies as a kid.  We all want respect and should respect others.  This world would be a better place if we would all respect each other and play nice in the sandbox!

Groucho’s quote is interesting.

i will pass on the meal and libations.

I have not been to Bimini.

This morning is quite cooler here in Bluffton.  We had a considerable amount oof rain yesterday but today the sun is out in full force.  However this is the first day in a long time that the temperature is below 70 degrees.

This morning I am not feeling much better.  The pain in my legs wake me up as do the pains in my arms and shoulders.  This should not be happening with the dosage of Prednisone i am taking. We will see where we go from here.  Then there is the digestive problems the meds are causing.

I am still not sleeping well.

As I said last night, I am seriously thinking of cancelling the Italy trip.  With the way I am feeling I cannot see taking that trip with the way I am feeling.  I plan to talk to DH about it today and if things don’t improve within a week or so, then with the doc.  Thankfully everything is refundable (including air) and we have Credit Card insurance that will cover the cruise.

If we get to Italy and I cannot do the things we plan to do, what is the use of going?

Prayers for all who need them, especially all those on the cares list. And cheers to those celebrating and cruising.

Have a wonderful Monday and week.

God Bless,

Terri

@1ANGELCAT no guilt from Jasper at all.  I’m sure he considers it payback.

@Quartzsite Cruiser it can be put back together. DH will need to pull out the instructions and I’m sure I’ll hear some choice words when he starts.

My Zaandam review was published this morning.

Good morning, thanks for the Fleet Report and Daily!  I do love a good cheeseburger and rarely have a burger without the cheese.  When our friends came last week I wanted to make a dessert that was gluten and dairy free, so I made rice krispie treats but substituted corn flakes instead as my Mom used to do.  I also added dried cranberries and sunflower seeds to the mix and the entire 9x13 pan was eaten up before you knew it!  People should respect one another every day, not just once in a while.

We've got another nice day in the offing - yesterday we reached a high of 31.4C (88.5F) and broke a 60 year record for high temp for the day.  Today won't be quite as warm, but we're still expecting a high of 26 (78) which is still decent for this time of year.  We're also looking at an air quality warning again because there's a breeze coming from the north west that will be bringing in the smoke later in the morning and hanging around until some time tomorrow.  Around 7:30 last night before the sun went down, DH and I took a stroll to the park at the end of our block (5 houses away) just to get some fresh air and to look at the changing colours along the riverbank.  It was nice to get out with him and walk a bit - he really enjoyed it.

@kazu I'm glad you, Ivan and your house stayed safe during Lee's visit.  Don't wear yourself out trying to get all the debris picked up at once though!

Not a lot on our agenda today, although I have to run out to WM and pick up some food for Sochi.  We're down to the last can of food that doesn't cause stomach issues, so it's a necessity to get more.  Trust me, you don't want a Ragdoll with tummy troubles!

I had a thought about the drink of the day - if you tossed all the ingredients into a blender and added ice, it would make a great slushie!  I'm pretty sure I'd like the wine today, and would order falafel in a restaurant, but am not likely to make it at home.  As it's still so nice and warm in the evenings, we're going to have chicken Caesar salads on the deck tonight.  And wine.

Prayers for everyone who is in need, cheers to all with celebrations.

Smooth Sailing!  ☺️☺️☺️

Respect deserves 2 days/year, cheeseburgers are good (had the smallest one ever last night courtesy of the Venezia Chef, like the idea of Rice Krispie Treats but don't care for marshmallows.

Groucho was funny.

Pass on the meal, I would try the drink.

Have yet to go to Bimini - not for trying; it's been canceled (by HAL) from every itinerary we've had. So much so, we now refer to it as "Bumini" - we're bummed we haven't gone & bummed when we see it on an itinerary cuz we know it will be canceled.

Respecting my Irish heritage, I am ashamed to say I don't know as much as I should about this day in history.

Happy for the cooler temps I have today in St John vs home.

Prayers and positive thoughts for all.

Thank you Rich, thank you Debbie, thank you Vanessa, thank you Ann, and thank you Dixie for all your work. And thank you everyone for being here!

Today we are in Stornoway. Somehow our excursion was not linked to our two staterooms so I had an 8:30 and Sue and DSIL had 11:30 for the Callinish Stones. It is a tender port for us and I believe we are still feeling the effects of the low tide in South Queenferry. Only three tenders were being used so I (along with other passengers) stood in line for over an hour to return. Once aboard I did notice that the other three were now in service. We have a full ship of 3,400 passengers.

I feel a bit strange after achieving 4* on HAL but now sailing with a different cruise line. But we are Gold on MSC and should reach their highest tier next year. Japan and a Transpacific in 2025 on HAL though. Food is not quite as good as HAL (still better than Carnival) but pizza and deserts are deliscious! Food portions are correctly sized with a more Mediterranean flavor, and the Buffet choices are more plentiful. Staff is fantastic! We have two staterooms that are connected which are middle tier (Fantastica Experience) but individually larger than a HAL Verandah.  Our staterooms are serviced twice a day without even requesting it. Tomorrow Greenock - with a pier!

Stay Safe, and prayers for those in need!

- Jack

Good morning,

It is a cool and bright morning. I am having lunch with friends today. I made a pot of turkey chili yesterday and they will make the rest. We all were in practice together and one is still working.

I love cheeseburgers and might eat one for dinner. I have been to Bimini on a Celebrity cruise in 2022 and was not impressed. I am sure those who knew it before the casino etc. will be disappointed in the changes.

Nothing much to report on Murphy. They are wanting her to gain weight before they wean the vent. She is off breast milk and on elemental formula to see if she does better. There is still a long way to go. Thanks for all the prayers.

I realized I have booked 129 days of cruising between 2024 and 2025 between GA and VOV. Luckily I only have a dollar deposit on the VOV.

Prayers and well wishes Have a great day.

I am very sorry to report that my DH Lou died this morning. We never thought this would happen so quickly..I am glad  we had him here and that he was able to say goodbye to loved ones before he became unresponsive.
We plan a nice dinner for friends and family in about a month as he really did not want a traditional wake or funeral service.

Thank you again for all the prayers and good wishes.

Good morning. Crisp and clear this morning. Current temp is 47F.... high today will be mid-70's. We may or may not get some showers later. I am fine with that. I love cheeseburgers but tonight's meal will be left over meatloaf. Guess I could add cheese. Have not been to today's destination and will skip the drinks simply because I rarely drink.

I am feeling better. The "whatever that was" seems to have passed although I am a bit tired. But I slept well last night and the dogs were cooperative about allowing me a few minutes more this morning. I think today I will spend sorting through my clothes closet and looking at some things I may take with me on the GA in January. Mix and match time. I have to be sure I have what I think I have since I discarded a bunch of clothes when I lost weight. And of course, need to be things still fit.

@smitty34877Your sad message just came through while I was writing this. I am so very sorry to hear that Lou has passed but am glad he could be at home and that he got a last visit with family. My condolences to you all.

Good morning. Thanks for the Fleet Report/Daily.

I like cheeseburgers a lot (without the bun or with). Not a Rice Krispies Treat fan. We need more respect in these times. Funny quote by Groucho. I will pass on the meal and drink, yes to the wine. I haven't been to Bimini Islands.  An important day in Irish history.

It was very foggy this morning and in the mid-50's. We're supposed to go up to 71 later. There are possible scattered showers, so I will play it by ear with mowing the lawn. For now, it's laundry. My stomach issues have passed; I think they were due to my RA shot, as it always happens a few days after I take it (although the Rheumatologist says she hasn't seen it in others).

@rafinmd I hope you feel better today.

@kochleffel I hope you are feeling better today Paul.

@puppycanducruise I'm glad the rain held off for a while for the happy couple.

@StLouisCruisers How odd about DD not being able to get through on your landline. Good going on the photo book and the saving of money. Congrats to Ren on his goal scoring.

@kazu I'm glad you didn't have serious damage. Be careful with the elbow while cleaning up the debris.

@Crazy For Cats Oh my, Jasper had quite the time in the office. I'll check out your Zaandam review.

@Denise T I'm glad you're feeling better.

@cat shepard Exciting to get a new car!

@aliaschief Safe trip home.

@marshhawk I hope Chuck gets a good report from the eye doctor.

@Cruzin Terri I'm sorry to hear you are still having a lot of pain, even with the increased Prednisone. Will you call or message the doctor? Is it a Rheumatologist you're seeing? I hope you don't have to cancel the trip, but if you're feeling this bad it wouldn't be a fun time I suspect.

@GTVCRUISER Thanks for the photos.

@ger_77 Your recipe for the GF treats sounds interesting.

@Heartgrove Thanks for checking in and enjoy your day today.

@cruising sister Enjoy your lunch today. Prayers for a miracle for Murphy.

@smitty34877 I am so sad to hear of Lou's passing. I am glad that he was at home with family. Prayers for your family at this difficult time. Even if expected, this is heartbreaking. Much love to you all.

@durangoscots I'm glad you're feeling better today.

Prayers for the Care List. A toast to those Celebrating.

I'm so sorry to hear about this.  Our widows club is growing far too quickly.  Tears will certainly flow and that will be a good thing.

I am so sorry that you are still tormented with this pain and digestion issues.  It might be a good idea to call your doctor now, rather than wait?  This doesn’t sound right at all 😔
