Rare Honolulu Blue Posted September 26, 2023 #1 Share Posted September 26, 2023 Hi guys. I was reading about a ship that recently had what seemed to me an incredible 10 consecutive days at sea between ports. The ship's passengers seemed to be well fed and happy despite such a long trip with no stops. Anyway, that inspired me to do this poll. What are the most consecutive sea days you've had on one of your cruises? I had five on my way to Hawaii from Vancouver on one of my cruises a few years ago. Other than that, I haven't had more than two consecutive sea days on any of my cruises. Thanks in advance for voting and sharing!
TheOldBear Posted September 26, 2023 #2 Share Posted September 26, 2023 QM2 routinely does a leisurely 7 day transatlantic crossing.
jollyjones Posted September 26, 2023 #3 Share Posted September 26, 2023 Eight from Tahiti to LAX. Loved every one, would have liked more. I love sea days and usually do at least one, if not two, transatlantics a year. That's what cruising is all about for me. The ports are just a minor distraction. 4
Heidi13 Posted September 26, 2023 #4 Share Posted September 26, 2023 Longest is 32 sea days from Bali to Gibraltar, as ports were closed. 1

Joebucks Posted September 26, 2023 #6 Share Posted September 26, 2023 Only 3 for me, and it was enough. I was itching for some more variety. I love a good sea day here or there, but it gets old too many times in a row. Especially if the weather is not good, that day is a buzzkill.
Rare whogo Posted September 26, 2023 #7 Share Posted September 26, 2023 Seven days between Funchal, Madeira and Fort Lauderdale at the end of a great thirty day cruise from Athens is my record. 1
shipgeeks Posted September 26, 2023 #8 Share Posted September 26, 2023 On our three TAs, around six or seven sea days to start. To and from Hawaii, five days each way, as I recall. On a freighter, many years ago, the entire voyage from NY to Australia was 42 days. I'm guessing that close to 30 of those days, between Panama and Australia, were sea days, with no ports, just sea, sky, and varying weather. It was great!

We had 6 days on a LA roundtrip to Tahiti. I can't recall for sure, but I'm reasonably sure we had 6 days on our westbound TA.
K32682 Posted September 26, 2023 #15 Share Posted September 26, 2023 Sea days are dead time and two in a row is the most I've had to put up with. On my TA there were several sea days but no more than two in a row. The other two sea days were going to the Marquesas and the tedium was worth it. The weather on the first sea day was quite rough which I quite enjoyed.
jcl410 Posted September 27, 2023 #16 Share Posted September 27, 2023 I did 10 days on The Royal Clipper from The Canary Islands to Barbados. The down wind sailing was great! The only "downside" was that the prize for winning daily trivia. The winner had to come up with the questions for the next day! (preferably in three languages!) 🙂 Aloha, John

Wayfairers Posted October 5, 2023 #18 Share Posted October 5, 2023 7 or 8. Transatlantics. Love them….. there is so much to do I’m having to pick between two or more things often. 1
navybankerteacher Posted October 5, 2023 #19 Share Posted October 5, 2023 6 - on QM2’s non-stop TA. I doubt there are many sailings without one or more stops scheduled per week. A great break from day to day routine - which cruising is meant to provide. I am inclined to pity people who can’t stand a half dozen such days. 2
Gwendy Posted October 6, 2023 #20 Share Posted October 6, 2023 10 days on World cruise. We were supposed to stop at Easter Island but couldn’t disembark because of big swells, then across the Pacific to Tahiti.
donaldsc Posted October 6, 2023 #21 Share Posted October 6, 2023 Do the isolation days when the Diamond Princess was docked but isolated in Japan count as sea days or land days. After all you could not get off the ship so they might have well been sea days. DON

Though I wonder if any vets of that particular cruise are left here. I imagine that many, if not most, have left cruising entirely because of what happened there. Rare ceeceeDee Posted October 6, 2023 #23 Share Posted October 6, 2023 Only ever two days. I'd be happy with more, love sea days
WatchHill Posted October 6, 2023 #24 Share Posted October 6, 2023 7 days Amsterdam to Boston. Fog rolled in as we sailed by the Isle of Wight and didn’t lift until we could see lights on Cape Cod. 1
