@HAL Sailer oh my goodness, that's wonderful news!  I'm so glad for you and DH that he's now looking well enough to be transferred to a different facility.  Continued prayers for his return to better health, and for strength for you as you cheer him on.

You could be right about them still sitting there, because even though it appears to be a moving ship, the information given when you click on the ship is odd.  It says moving at 102 knots.  That's on cruisemapper.com.  I do hope they can get out of there quickly!

As of 3 minutes ago they're still sitting there, 7:08 pm their time.  The 2 missing people showed up but now they have a medical disembarkation. 😞

Yes, I read that on the other thread.  Everyone must be on edge waiting for something to happen.  Can you imagine being taken off the ship for medical care in a country now at war?  I really feel for the passengers.

Which is one reason for doing a ship's tour.... particularly in an unstable area. I hope the 2 passengers are ok.

I hope so.  Just 3 minutes ago my friend told me they were still sitting there waiting for 2 passengers.

Passengers report on another thread here on CC that the 2 pax are back on board and a revised itinerary has been announced.

But, the result I've been lobbying for and praying about may materialize.

Fingers crossed; prayers continued,

Welcome back- That is great news. Continued prayers and positive thoughts for you and DH.

Thank you for the FR&D. @richwmn the Nieuw Statendam has a change in itinerary:

https://boards.cruisecritic.com/topic/2967636-nieuw-statendam-israel-war-breaking-out/

DH came home early from camping. Too cold and the fishing was terrible. So I made one of our camping breakfasts this morning to perk him up: French toast and corned beef hash.

 @kazu  @St Pete Cruiser @0106 Bon Voyage! ⛴️

Thank you all for caring and sharing.  Prayers for everyone who needs them.  Cheers for all the celebrations.

It's been a busy morning on the Daily while I took care of chores and made a trip to the garden center.  Yes, this non-gardener went to a garden center to get top soil and mulch.  Today is our town's annual Pioneer Day where the three blocks of downtown are blocked off for venders to set up their tents.  From the looks of the streets and of the parking lots nearby, it is a successful event.  We've been a few times, but not recently.  I'm glad there was a good turnout of vendors and of potential shoppers.

The situation with the Nieuw Statendam and the Nautica must be extremely stressful for the passengers, crew and officers.  I know the disembarked passenger will get good medical attention on shore, but it must be a very serious situation for the medical staff to disembark someone in a country under war conditions.  I hope everyone involved can be safe and on their way soon.  I am glad that the two late passengers are now on board.  DH and I said this morning that we're glad we got to Israel in 2017 on Prinsendam when things were relatively calm.  Because of an itinerary change, we had one day in Haifa and two days in  Ashdod.  We were able to see just about everything we wanted to see.

Good morning, thanks for the Fleet Report and Daily!   We don't have a lot of bald men in our family, but I'd rather see bald than someone trying to cover it up with 3 hairs and a lot of hope.  As kids we always walked to school, even during blizzards; that's just how it was.  Every day should be smile day - you might just brighten someone's outlook with your smile.

The wind has stopped, the sun is coming up and I see we've got clear blue skies again.  It's shaping up to be a beautiful fall day here on the "frozen tundra", which is great because I have a wedding to officiate outdoors this afternoon.  It's for the my cousin's daughter, so that means we'll be able to enjoy the festivities after the ceremony and reconnect with some relatives as well.

Bon Voyage to @kazu, @0106, @St Pete Cruiser, and our other friends who are also embarking the Rotterdam today.

I'm saying extra prayers today for the people in Israel who were affected by the overnight invasion.  I've read a couple of things on FB from passengers who had their excursions cut short and were not sure where they were going to be headed once the Nieuw Statendam left port.

Yesterday I made the vegetable casserole, today I'll be baking a batch of buns and hopefully will also have time to make the crustless pumpkin pie before having to get ready for the wedding.  Time will tell just what I'm able to get done.

I'd like to try the drink of the day just to see if I like it or not, am pretty sure I'd like the wine, and do enjoy lasagna once in a while, even if it isn't the regular type.  For us however, we'll be enjoying whatever fare is served us at the wedding reception tonight.  And wine.

Prayers for everyone who is in need, cheers to all with celebrations.

Smooth Sailing!  ☺️☺️☺️

Gerry

Gerry, I agree with you about the "three hair" comb over.  It always looks strange when the part is just above one ear and the hair lies across the top of the head.  DH inherited the bald gene from his father.  For years, I could look at his older brother and see what his hairline would be like in two years.  On the plus side, bald is easier to take care of.

Greetings from the Rotterdam Crow's Nest in Amsterdam.

It is rather overcast and 18C/65F for our long awaited sailaway. The ship is full and has been according to several guests who have been on the previous cruise. They warned us that there was a big crew changeover today including a new cruise and travel director.

We had a rather difficult time getting to the pier this morning as train service from our enjoyable hotel was interrupted forcing us to use a bus and then return to a train 20231007_163329.thumb.jpg.ee8189f51d1f0f480ede16574995cde5.jpg to Amsterdam Centraal. We pulled our bags to the pier and were still able to be onboard at noon.

There are river cruise boats from Viking,  Uniworld and a few others near us. The Port is alive with ferries, cargo ships and pleasure boats.

I hope to watch until we reach the North Sea. Dinner is not until 8pm. Port talk at 7 and 9 in World Stage.

I'm happy you are safely on board.  I hope the sailaway is good.  We used to watch it from a window table in the Pinnacle Grill on Prinsendam.

Good morning all!

My dear Dad passed down the bald gene to our son and nephew, I walked to school up through high school, and every day should be smile day.  I would try the drink, pass on the red wine, and like lasagna.  But tonight will be halibut, salad and french fries.  We were in Portree and took an excursion to Eilean Donan Castle.  Photos below.

I'm concerned about our cruisers on the NS right now in Israel -- a friend of ours (and of some others on this thread) is onboard as is a person on 2 of my roll calls.  It sounds pretty tense. 😞

Today is supposed to be gloriously sunny and warm, I hope to be outside for most of it.  Garden clean up.

Welcome to the Daily Karen @quilty964!

Bon Voyage to @kazu, @0106 and @St Pete Cruiser!

I'm just stopping in to leave a quick update. I openly admit I have not read any full days of Daily posts since DH's hospital stay began twelve days ago.

DH has had a tough go of it. This past Monday, as everything was circling down the proverbial rabbit hole,  I asked, "Are we losing him?" DH's team replied that it was not unreasonable to prepare myself for that possibility.

Five days later, with that same medical team's work and so many fervently praying, there is wonderful news. DH has rallied enough that planning for a transfer to Inpatient Rehabilitation has started.

When DH does transfer, his medical treatment will continue with intensive occupational and physical therapy added. This possible transfer has involved some creative thinking on the part of his team to make it work.

But, the result I've been lobbying for and praying about may materialize.

Fingers crossed; prayers continued,
-Melisa

Melisa, I was very glad to see your post and learn that your DH rallied and is being prepared to transition to an in patient rehab facility.  I am sending positive thoughts for a good outcome.  Please remember to take care of yourself, and that the Daily family has your back.

Good morning,

It's a beautiful day in the PNW and will be in the high 70's today and mid-70's tomorrow before we get rain on Monday. This is "Farm Tour Weekend" in the Skagit Valley with several farms open to the public with goods to sample, buy and educational displays. I'll head up towards Concrete tomorrow to visit two farms that were DH's favorites. Staying home today as new dryer is due to be delivered between 4 and 6 but could be earlier.

Had a nice day visiting with Mom on Thursday. I left home at 9 AM and got back at 8:30 PM. She wanted to go shopping for black pants so we went to a mall that's a bit further from her place. She cashed in her lottery tickets and then clothes shopped. She got two tops and grey sweatpants and was happy. Then it was to the local bakery for some scones. I brought home a cinnamon one and a triple chocolate one. I left her at 3:45 to go to a friends house less than 30 minutes away and got there almost 2 hours later. The reason - an accident on the only bridge to get there. What a time just sitting and creeping along. At least the trip back down from BC was fine and my border waits were nonexistent.

My Dad was bald and claimed he started going bald the day I was born! I walked to school pretty much all my school career until 11th grade when I started driving. You had to live several miles away to qualify for bus service and we weren't in that circle.

Have a wonderful Saturday!

Karen

Karen, I'm glad you visit with your DM and your friend went well, but sorry about the accident that caused a delay.  Enjoy your new dryer and your day tomorrow at the farms near Concrete.

Thank you for the good wishes.  I think this year will be one of the very rare years without a cruise.  We hope to be back on a BHB next year.  Maybe, we'll even see you then.

The UT/OU game is going to be interesting . I had a scare when OU scored in the first two minutes, but a few long minutes later, UT tied the score.

The sailaway from Amsterdam has been enjoyable and we are now clearing the worlds largest sea lock at Ijmuden.

I was excited to see the Ocean Majesty docked close to the lock. It was built in 1966! That is 30 years before the Veendam and 22 years before the Prinsendam.  She looks good, too. Not sure if she will be in service next year.

Onto Brooge tomorrow.

It’s so wonderful to hear that Nieuw Statendam is safely back at sea with all pax onboard. I hope the pax that was medically disembarked will be okay.
I can’t imagine being onboard a ship docked in a country that has just declared a state of war.
It certainly makes some of the other complaints on other threads on this forum be absolutely les than life changing.

I just had a nice chat with Captain Adams.  He said he would try to get more news on the Statendam and include it in his noon talk.  He said I have the best true report from the passengers on board from the cruise critic.  Prayers for all involved.

Good afternoon, time for a quick check-in.  The house smells delicious - the buns are baked and cooling on the racks as we speak.  I always like to get the table set in advance, so after taking all the plants and putting them back on the deck (where I hope they can stay for at least a week), I went to work on the table.

Earlier this morning I opened a new tablecloth that I'd purchased at a big chain that recently closed - they claimed to have everything for your Bed, your Bathroom, and Beyond that.  I tossed the tablecloth into the wash and dryer, and then proceeded to iron it before putting it on the dining room table.  As I was ironing, I noticed there was a larger hem on one side than the other - I thought they must have goofed with the packaging and put in a single top sheet.  Until I realized there were little slits in the wide hem . . . I didn't have a tablecloth, I had a shower curtain!   I went outside to look at the package and yes, it did say tablecloth, so that's what we're using it as!   It was a little wonky size-wise, but I've folded it up and I don't think anyone other than DH and I (and all of you) will know we're eating off a shower curtain rather than a tablecloth.  LOL

Off to shower and get changed so I can officiate the wedding in a couple of hours - I hope everyone has a good afternoon.  Stay safe and see you tomorrow!

Good afternoon. Thanks for the Fleet Report/Daily.

I'll pass on bald and free day. I walked to school. There were no school buses, as my town was only about 1 sq mile big. Grammar school was only a couple of blocks away (my DM also taught there). High school was almost a mile away, and my DM would usually take me in the morning, and I'd walk home. I'm all for world smile day. Cryptic quote. Maybe on the meal, pass on the drink, and yes to the wine. I haven't been to Isle of Skye. Good days in history.

I'm sad to learn of what is going on now in Israel; prayers for that country. And for the cruisers nearby.

It was a chilly 45F this AM, but now up to 56; we might make 60. At least the sun is out, after hard rain overnight. I went to CVS for my RSV vaccine late this morning. I don't know what's going on with this store, but first there was a sign saying they were closing at 6 instead of 9PM. At the pharmacy, there was only the pharmacist, who was trying to answer the phone, give out prescriptions and give vaccines to the many who were there. Occasionally someone from the front would come back to help out. I guess they are short of employees today. It would be a good day to work in the yard, but I don't think I'm up to it today.

@StLouisCruisers I hope Ren and DS enjoy their visit to ND. Great photos; you were lucky to have such nice blue skies!

@RMLincoln I hope your retreat is the respite you seek.

@dfish Thanks for the recipes.

@smitty34877 Sorry about the oil leak; at least it's not the dead of winter. I grew up at a house with an oil tank that was in the basement. We eventually switched over to natural gas. I hope Tana will not be impacted.

@Lady Hudson Best wishes for DH's recovery from the bronchitis.

@quilty964 I like my Bosch dishwasher; it's very quiet and cleans the contents well.

@ottahand7 Nice photo of the cabin, and your visitor.

@marshhawk I know you'll enjoy your time in Italy, then Rome to Home!

@ger_77 Enjoy the wedding. Wow on that mix-up with a shower curtain instead of a table cloth!

@Cruising-along Thanks for sharing your photos.

@HAL Sailer Wonderful news about your DH. Many here have been praying for him and will continue to do so.

@luvteaching I'm glad you had a nice visit with your DM. The farm visits sound like a fun thing to do.

@sailingdutchy Great photos, Tony.

Penny, I looked at the train schedule, and as I expected, I saw you had to switch trains in LA.  Safe travels,

Yes. I have done the TUS-LAX both ways on the train several times. But here I have Togo San Diego-LAX then the plan is to go over to Olvera St and get some dinner. Love Olvera St!  Then board the train for an overnighter. 😀
