Good morning friends!  It's 44F this morning and we expect a high of 58 with sunny skies today.  I see a report of a freeze warning for Sunday night-Monday morning though.  Yesterday DH measured Friday's overnight rain at 2.25 inches.  In the first 9 days of March we've gotten 9 inches of rain!  Sheesh!

Thank you Roy @rafinmd for the Fleet Report and Daily as well as the fleet location maps. I hope Jacqui @kazu is okay and only had internet problems.  Today is Daylight Savings Day, Check Your Batteries Day (smoke detector) and the First Day of Ramadan. It's going to take a while to get used to the time change.  No idea what pork zuppa is or whether I'd like a banana daiquiri or not.  Yes to the Sauvignon Blanc wine.  An eventful day for Ireland in 1920. Thanks to Debbie @dfish, Dixie @summer slope and Ann @cat shepard for the food and beverage reports.

Prayers for all who need them here on the Daily, the people of Israel and Ukraine, the hostages still held, and our troops on bases and ships in the region.  Many prayers for my DB, my great nephew Alex's twins, my DGD, my friends Scott and Susan, and Sarah, Graham @grapau27 and Pauline as they deal with the death in the family.  Hoping for a good rehab experience for Ann's @cat shepard DSis and that Chuck @catmando and Annie @marshhawk are getting along alright.  Cheers to all celebrating happy events and cruising!  Thanks Vanessa @JazzyV for keeping the lists so well for us all.  Praying for you each day too!

The port this morning is Alexandria (Cairo), Egypt.  This was the port before on March 6, 2021 (first week of the port of the day feature on the Daily) and April 22, 2022.  Yes, we were there and went to visit the Pyramids that day so I'll reprint my photos.  Here are the links for your convenience.

Hope you have an excellent Sunday.  Please keep safe and stay well if you can.

Good (?) morning.  I sprang forward and I seem a little out of sync.

Thanks for the Report.   Ramadan Mubarak.

I hope @kazu is okay.  Thanks for stepping in @rafinmd.

We had a light dusting of snow overnight, everything looks pretty.

I like the quote.

The meal sounds good, I would love a daiquiri, I'm sure the wine is wonderful too.

Prayers for everyone on the Care List.

Have a peaceful day.  Stay safe.

Good afternoon.

It is raining heavily here and 41°F.

Thank you Roy @rafinmd for posting today's daily reports and hopefully Jacqui @kazu is okay.

We had a lovely Mothering Sunday service in church today.

I understand Mothers day is in May for US and Canada but happy mother's day for anyone else.

3 interesting days and a nice Sauvignon blanc wine of the day.

I hope everyone is safe and well.

Thank you Roy, thank you Debbie, thank you Vanessa, thank you Ann, and thank you Dixie for all your work.  And thank you everyone for being here!

Sam is doing well! Yesterday we had rain so he slept most of the day. But we have some really nice weather forecast this week. Sam will probably enjoy being outside most of the days.

Stay Safe, and prayers for those in need.

- Jack

Greetings from beautiful Port Charlotte

Raining right now but clearing up with a high of 80

I’m one of those who feel that there is no longer the need for Daylight Saving Time

As an avid reader I love the quote

Pass on the meal but a Banana Daiquiri is pretty good

We have been to Trinidad a few times and enjoyed it with some nice tours, my father spent time with the Navy sailing out of Trinidad patrolling the Atlantic on a Destroyer before heading over to England and D Day

Have a great day and stay well

Good morning, everyone!

It is a snowy morning here in mid-Michigan.  We got a heavy dusting of snow on the ground.  The driveway is mostly clear as are the roads.  Most will melt off this afternoon and definitely tomorrow.  By Tuesday we are back in the 60s.  But, today is a day meant for wrapping up in a quilt and watching movies.

I echo everyone's concern about @kazu.  I hope we hear from her soon.

Pork Zuppa is a pork soup.  It is made with ground pork, potatoes, and kale and has a creamy broth.  https://www.eatingwell.com/recipe/263203/slow-cooker-pork-zuppa/

porkzuppa1.thumb.jpg.4c448c64764090eaa3449e6780b363cb.jpg

That is a perfect meal for a day like today!  Zuppa Toscana, a pork soup, is a favorite at Olive Garden.  This version has bacon in it.  Mmmmmhttps://selfproclaimedfoodie.com/zuppa-toscana/

porkzuppa2.thumb.jpg.b5c0e179bce2fadc352210ffefb8c4b2.jpg

This one is similar to the last one, just a little different on the seasonings.  https://www.themagicalslowcooker.com/slow-cooker-zuppa-toscana/

Wishing you all a wonderful day.

Alexandria, Egypt

DH and I were in Alexandria, Egypt in October 2014 on our first Holland America cruise.  We were on the Prinsendam so what a wonderful introduction.  The people of Egypt were very happy to see cruise tourists back since they were just getting past some bad times in their country.

We took a ship's tour to Cairo and Giza where we visited an Antiquities museum.  Then on to Giza to see the fabulous pyramids.  The bus had a big, burly armed guard on board with us and the bus was escorted through the city of Alexandria by trucks loaded with armed security men.

00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhG

The armed guard

00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhG

The city of Alexandria itself was rough looking, but made for some fascinating viewing along the way.

00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhG

00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhG

Along the way were some interesting pigeon towers (or pigeon condos).

00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhG

00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhG

Arriving in city of Cairo

00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhG

Fascinating way to carry cattle.  They must be dairy cows and used to being handled.  A beef cow would jump out of there.

00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhG

There were no photos allowed in the museum and my IPhone was only months old at the time so I didn't take a lot of photos with it then.  Just this photo of the outside.

00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhG

So I have nothing to share from inside the Antiquities museum but it was unique and fascinating.  If you ever go to Cairo, you should make it a point to visit there.  After lunch we had lunch at the Le Meridien Hotel, then headed to the pyramids of Giza.

Waiting for paying riders

00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhG

The city streets are just past the pyramids.  Which makes some individuals ask why they would put the pyramids right here in the middle of the city?  Hilarious right?

00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhG

Then we went to the Sphinx which had some work being done to it.

00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhG

00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhG

We headed from there to a fancy gift shop for souvenirs, where guards were on duty to protect tourists getting on and off the buses.  Photo taken from inside bus.

00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhG

This photo was taken from the street where the gift shop was.  Yes, they are right there!

Good morning from Port of Spain Trinidad.Ramadan Mubarak to those who celebrate. Thank goodness AZ doesn’t do DST - I don’t get it!  But do ✔️ your batteries!!  Fantastic quote. Pass on the food and drinks; never been to the port. Interesting day in history.

I hope all is well with @kazu Jacqui. Today I am off to a waterfall. I did notice yesterday the Zuiderdam was in Dalian - I lived there for over a year!

Thoughts for anyone needing support and cheers for those celebrating. Have a great day everyone!!

Good morning everyone.  I guess I am not the only one who got a late start today.  Thanks for stepping in for Jacqui Roy!   We truly appreciate everyone who steps up every day to start our day!   Thanks @kazu, @rafinmd, @richwmn, @summer slope, @cat shepard, @dfish and @JazzyV for stepping up every day!  Jacqui I hope you are feeling better this morning!   A wonderful quote to start our day and some beautiful photos of Alexandria @StLouisCruisers!  I am sure they will be many more of this popular port.   I will pass on the meal and the cocktail but a good SB is always perfect!

Thanks for the cares and celebrations reports Vanessa!    Prayers for everyone needing them and the people in war zones, Ukraine and the innocents in Gaza.

It snowed here overnight but it won't last as it is warming up some today and it will get into the 60s this coming week.    A busy week ahead for me with a 2 day Zoom Environmental School I am taking part in, 2 doctor appointments and a planning meeting for an Environmental School that our garden club will be hosting in 2025.   I am planning on watching the Oscars tonight.  Have a lovely Sunday!  Nancy

Good morning, thanks for the Fleet Report and Daily!  We've got a ton of AA and AAA batteries - I checked ours yesterday when I needed one for a small flashlight.  We are among the few that never spring forward or fall back - we let others do the hard work while we remain on the same time year round.  Wishing those who participate in Ramadan a blessed and peaceful month that brings good health and prosperity to you and those you love.  We've had the good fortune of being to Alexandria (Cairo) twice, first by ourselves, and the second time with all 3 of our children and a son-in-law.

It has warmed up; when I turned my phone on to check the temperature, I see we're sitting at 0 (32F), something we haven't seen in a long time!  The forecast is for bright sunshine again and a high of +4(39) which will help settle the snow.  Yesterday a contingent of graders came down our street, smoothing out the ruts and creating large piles of snow on either side, but also issues at the end of the driveway.  Once they left our area, I went out and shoveled the large ridges of snow and ice chunks so we didn't have to try to scale them with the vehicle when we want to go somewhere.

I'm glad @kazu is back with us; sorry you had such a fitful night.  Yay for @rafinmd for stepping in and getting the FR&D on the boards for us.  I've said this before, but what a great community we have here where people look out for each other everyone and is caring and helpful.

My plans of working on fabric yesterday didn't pan out - DH wanted to go to a clearance centre to see what was there (we hadn't gone for a couple or months), so off we went, shopping.  You rarely have to ask me twice!  We ended up having lunch out and ran into some old friends from DH's university days, so spent a couple of hours with them reminiscing of their "school days".  LOL   Maybe I'll get to the fabric today, but there's no guarantee, as I have to get through the book my neighbour gave me so she can return it to the library.

I've had a banana daiquiri, and I think you only need one, as they're very sweet.  I'll let others enjoy the white wine today, and I'm sure I've had today's soup at the Olive Garden and quite enjoyed it.  I've got a package of salmon fillets thawing in the fridge that will be panko-breaded and baked, and served along with oven fried potato rounds, green beans and bagged chop-chop salad at the kitchen table tonight.  And wine.

Prayers for everyone who is in need, of which there are so many.  Cheers to all with celebrations happening.

Smooth Sailing!  ☺️☺️☺️

Gerry

No pork anything, please, not even zuppified. Skip the drink. I have a New Zealand SB, not that one, open now. For a Finger Lakes SB that I haven't mentioned before, Bravery Wines 2771 Series

The forecast is for intermittent s-n-o-w today. Mona Lisa woke me at 5:50 a.m., apparently because she wanted company.

1 Smoke detector needs a battery - it's been "singing" to us, so we'll change it along w/the others and restock the supply. Time had not changed on my phone when I first checked the weather, but it updated as I did the screenshot, so now I only need to change the stove, microwave and cars. I would like to see this practice end - it has outlived its usefulness.

The meal sounds good but I would pick around the kale & like it w/bacon (thanks @dfish for the suggestion), yes to the drink but like it better w/o the coconut 🥥 milk, yes to the wine, not been to the port & look forward to the pictures I know will be shared; thanks @StLouisCruisers for yours.

Currently 37° headed to 64° - yay no rain!

@kazu I hope you feel better today and am glad you got some sleep.

Prayers and positive thoughts for all. 🙏

Good Sunday Morning Dailyites!  I did not spring forward.  Well the clocks did, but I think I found the mystery of waking up earlier and earlier.  DH has begun  talking in his sleep.  After he yelled Annie! I woke and said-what?  And then he mumbled something about the guy from TX that I was texting to,  has gone.  They are all gone...   zzzzz    zzzzz..The only guy I was texting with in Texas was my old boss, who was a girl anyway, and she didnt live in TX anymore, so I have no idea what is going on in his head, so I didn't spring forward, I was pushed.  Honest.

Dinner with Debbie was fun last night.  But while I love the food at this restaurant, there is nothing for a diabetic to eat.  They do have salads, with raw beef.  Not for me. I dont eat raw things.  Reminds me of survival tv shows.  I used to eat raw oysters, but found out I like them smoked better.

@grapau27 I am sorry of the lost friendship with your brother in law, that was not resolved before his death,  and was sorry for Sarah on losing her birth father.  Seems to me that you and Pauline have been the better parents to her, but loss is still loss.  I too hope that Pauline and her sister can become closer. Hugs to you all.

@kazuRelax today, and I hope you feel better soon.

@JazzyVYou are always in @catmando's and my prayers, especially  when you were living off of 2-3 hours of sleep a night.  You are amazing! I am so glad to read that you are sleeping better.  Sleep is a healer, unless it hurts to sleep.

@AroundWithMAPTravels I love your meme today, it was a coffee spewing moment!

@RMLincolnIt sounds like you are adjusting to your new home and life.  I think at your new home with all they offer, you could be busy 24/7!  If you wanted to be.  You are much better at getting your health checked than I am, and you are in a new "country".  The minute a Doctor wants to send me north of town, I refuse, due to the drive.  I need to learn from you.
