Good morning and thank you for the Report.  Happy Hump Day.

Thanks for the maps.

Rainy and windy here today, could turn to snow later today.  Boo!  We need spring, not more winter.  Oh well, I'll stay in and bake some muffins.

Three good days to celebrate.  I'll look for a fan.

Love the quote.

The meal sounds good, but I think we'll have cabbage rolls.  (store bought not home made but tasty)  The drink sounds like dessert and I'm sure I'll like the wine.

We've been to Costa Rica but not that port.

Prayers for everyone affected by the earthquake in Taiwan.

Have a wonderful day.  Stay safe.

Happy Hump Day all and thanks Rich, Roy, Vanessa, Debbie, Ann & Dixie.

Interesting collection of days.  I’ll celebrate finding a rainbow and film scores.  Some films have fabulous scores.  I believe a good movie has to have a good score 😉

LOL on the Yogi Berra quote.  Amazing how far our phones have come since that first call in history.

IMG_2280.jpeg.47c6d240aef14e8eea2080b754e7a3eb.jpeg

Going to be a mess tomorrow but for once the Bay of Fundy may help us changing some of the snow to rain. (they don’t seem to be sure how much of which we will get here)  Not sure if that’s good for the already inundated Saint John River but as long as it’s not ice, I’ll be able to get to acupuncture tomorrow.

IMG_2279.jpeg.81297a738c6fea3a2c4a3738b5a02993.jpeg

Acupuncture was yesterday and after I did a couple of key errands in case the weather is impossible.  OMG II could walk!  I stretched my legs and walked - for 10 minutes and then the burning and pain started again.  ‘Sigh’.  At least unlike poor Vanessa @JazzyV I can mostly sleep at night. it’s only my 2nd acupuncture appointment so maybe there is hope?

Prayers for those on the Care list, those suffering losses, grief, pain, health problems, worries & those that need them. 🙏 Cheers to those celebrating and cruising 🥂

Good morning friends!  After lots of rain overnight (and apparently a tornado watch until 3 a.m.) it is 64 degrees and cloudy.  We may rise to about 70F and see the sun out this afternoon, with some windy spells.

Thank you Jacqui @kazu and Roy @rafinmd for the Fleet Report and Daily as well as the fleet location maps.  Interesting days to recognize, and I love the quote by Yogi Berra.  The meal sounds pretty good, but I don't like martinis or red wine.  I'm sure the first mobile phone call was exciting.  Thanks to Debbie @dfish, Dixie @summer slope and Ann @cat shepard for your reports.

Prayers said for DB, great nephew Alex's twin boys, friends Scott, Susan and Sandy, those in Israel and Ukraine, the hostages still held, food workers killed in Gaza, our troops in the region and all our Daily friends on the Care list. 🙏 Praying for improvement for all!  It was good to hear some good news yesterday health wise so we have those folks on the Celebration list along with the birthdays, anniversaries and cruisers! 🚢🎂🎉🥂  Bon Voyage to @SusieKIslandGirl!  Thank you Vanessa @JazzyV for the lists today.  We appreciate your hard work.❤️

The port today is Quepos, Costa Rica.  This was the port once before on Dec. 2, 2021 so I'll post the link for your convenience in retrieving any photos.  I haven't been to that particular Costa Rican port before so have no photos for you.  I checked and Lenda @Quartzsite Cruiser has not been there either.  Hopefully someone here has been and can share their experience.

Hope you all have a great day!  Stay safe and keep well.

Thank you for today’s FR & D, Jacqui. Roy, thank you for our maps. Some amazing photos of the sections of the Key bridge  underwaterThe divers have to be guided by someone on the surface with a special device because they literally can not see anything because that water is so murky.

Just barely getting light here. Strong storms expected in the afternoon. Hope they don’t hit during my evening commute.

Vanessa, thank you for keeping up with us. I have run out of ways to tell you that I am praying for your permanent relief from your pain.

Another day of jury duty. I feel as if I am commuting to a job. The judge couldn’t promise, but it might wrap up today. 🤞🏻

How I felt last night…

Cheers to all who are celebrating!

May we each find a reason to smile today!

Bota Box Nighthawk Rich Red Wine Blend

This 3 liter box blend sounds interesting. Though I am not sure the wine should be “paired with” a blanket, I think I understand what the author meant. Numerous online distributors with prices starting at $17.98.

Winemaker’s notes

Audacious yet approachable, our Nighthawk Rich Red Wine Blend delivers an enticing interplay of juicy blackberry pie and bittersweet dark chocolate. Its welcoming, balanced profile and smooth, lingering finish make this wine a down-to-earth crowd pleaser for gatherings big and small.

PAIRS WITH

Enjoy Nighthawk under the evening sky with a spicy beef curry or a warm blanket.

Good morning, everyone!

It is a gloomy day out today, but there is no rain in the forecast until tomorrow.  Last night the rain was torrential.  My eye seems a slight bit better this morning.  Last night I iced it and put hydrocortisone cream on the lid, taking care not to get any in the eye itself.  The lid is dark red, swollen, and has a bump in the middle.  If you look carefully, you can see the puncture, leading me to believe this is a bite of some sort.  I'll continue to ice.

This morning I'm doing the weight room at the gym.  As much as I love the water classes, I do want to mix things up.  This afternoon is my appointment at the Pain and Spine Clinic.  Hopefully we'll be able to move on to do the nerve ablation in my back.  That would work wonders.  As I told the physical therapist yesterday, my goal is to be able to walk around the block without my cane or hiking poles.   I'm resigned to the hiking poles for long hikes, but a neighborhood stroll shouldn't require them.

Today's meal looks good to me!   I could go for a steak after having one of today's Salted Caramel Concoctions.  The meal is easy to prepare and promises lots of flavor and satisfaction.  You can substitute the vegetable of your choice.  I'll stick with the green beans.   https://www.eatingwell.com/recipe/7896459/lemon-garlic-steak-green-beans/

steakandgreenbeans1.thumb.jpg.388f6a24a9163aae3ad862a68937d022.jpg

This is a one pan meal.  That makes it even better as there is less clean up afterwards.  Most meals in this house are one pan meals.  I like the marinade for the steak in this one.  https://www.eatwell101.com/garlic-butter-steak-and-green-beans-recipe

steakandgreenbeans2.thumb.jpg.072322ba9386eeb78776302482ae525d.jpg

I'm not sure you can get much simpler than this next recipe.  Notice we're going from a full steak to steak strips and now, to steak cubes.  https://fettysfoodblog.com/garlic-butter-steak-bites-with-green-beans/

Safe travels to all our Dailyites who are on the road, in the air, or on a ship.  Wishing you all a wonderful day!

Thank you Jacqui, thank you Roy, thank you Debbie, thank you Vanessa, thank you Ann, and thank you Dixie for all your work.  And thank you everyone for being here!

Received a disappointing email yesterday afternoon from MSC. They have cancelled our 20-night Grand Voyage Transatlantic for this November We had booked this and another MSC cruise last year when it had first became available. Our plans were just finalized two weeks ago with flights and hotels as we were to spend just under two weeks in Switzerland and Northern Italy before the first cruise. We immediately called our MSC Concierge (like a HAL PCC) to see what we could do. It will require planning both cruises over again as the alternate Grand Voyage leaves before we would return from the shorter cruise. A shuffling of our land trip will need to be shortened as well. Both of these cruises were to be in Yacht Club on our favorite class (Fantasia-class) MSC ship.

I started looking at alternatives and this morning spotted a HAL 42-day cruise on the Volendam leaving from and returning to Ft. Lauderdale. Sue will probably not like it as the amenities are limited compared to the Rotterdam that her and DSIL are sailing on next week.

Stay Safe, and prayers for those in need.

- Jack

Good morning. It is raining cats and dogs and will continue all day. All of the usual places are flooded and I hear the sump pump going in the basement. So far it was only about an inch of water in one area. Across the street the parked cars are sitting in water up to the mid wheel region. I would  get my car out of there now as two more inches are coming. The worst of it is the high wind warning. Con Edison sent out their usual warning last night. Hopefully the power will stay on.

I would look for a rainbow but not today. I would also love to see a Fan Dance. I have not been to Costa Rica and would love the meal if someone else made it.
Thank you so much to everyone sending good wishes for Tana. The cough present in IPF sounds very specific, at least to me. My parents and brother all died from lung cancer and their coughs were specific as well. The nurse that came yesterday said nothing in front of Tana but had a separate conversation with me. I suspected that her condition was worsening and  this was confirmed. The oxygen is at the highest setting and all we can do to assist her breathing for now is use the nebulizer more frequently. Last night DD stayed with Tana so that I could sleep. We will see how it goes today. So far it has been a quiet morning.

@kazu, I had acupuncture quite a few times over the years and found that it helped tremendously. I hope that you find the same thing. It took a few sessions to see a good result, at least for my bones.

Take care today everyone.
