Two M-Class Ships for Sale?

Was looking around and found what looks like two M-Class ships for sale. Not totally surprising with the new Edge class coming onboard soon. Or maybe Celebrity is just seeing if there is any interest?

I'm sure someone can figure out which ships they are.

The ship in the first link says it was built in 2002 and the ship in the second link was 2001.

So to me that rules out Millennium as she hit the waters in 2000.

I know Infinity came out in 2001 (Spring) and I believe Summit later that year. So it could be either one of these two (but not both)

Constellation came out in 2002, so it looks like she's the ship in the first link.

RCI is also selling off some of the Vision class fleet. From a business perspective, it has to be cheaper, on a per passenger basis, to run a larger (& newer) ship than an older, smaller ship. Yet, it's somewhat sad to see some of these ships where we've had some great times being "cast off" this way.

:-( I just love smaller ships. I can't yet afford to cruise Azamara, Oceania, etc. and I'm just now switching to Celebrity. Hopefully they keep their ships in the mid-size range and don't go huge like Royal. I've yet to do my first Vision class cruise yet, but have one booked on Brilliance. Hopefully they'll keep BOTS in Tampa for a good long while...

Ugh. Connie's my favourite. I still miss Horizon and Zenith. I wish they would add smaller ships. I know they won't, and I know why, but I miss them. Remember docking in Hamilton and St. George's?

I've put this in my shopping cart, but I can't decide whether to buy or not. I might wait until they accept PayPal.

Ha! Thanks villauk! That's a relief and good to know (and something I should have known...lol). Happy to know they aren't yet selling off any Radiance class ships. I toured BOTS a few years ago and have always thought this class is just beautiful with all the glass.

Also toured the Enchantment around the same time and didn't get the same fuzzy feeling with all that bright blue Astro turf which I'm sure they have since removed/updated (hopefully).

They have tons for sale and it probably takes year to do a sale. Either that or they end up in Alang.

Iirc the original price of the M-class ships was c. $350 million or so each. Adjusting for inflation that would be about $500m today. If they actually get close to the asking prices that's a pretty low rate of depreciation.

I have made a reservation on Infinity for me and my wife for Dec. of 2018. If one of the ships being sold is Infinity, I guess they'll need to cancel lots of cruises.

I'd like to know how old these postings are. I don't see that anywhere.

Why would they complete a costly remodel if they planned to sell the ships? Connie is scheduled for the makeover next month. Just doesn't make sense. Why would the outside photo of the ship look grainy, but the inside shots so clear?

Celebrity Century had a big makeover just a few years before she was sold. It is a little puzzling, but I imagine they want all Celebrity ships to meet certain standards, even if it's near the end of the line for a particular ship. A makeover surely increases resale value as well.

There were no plans to sell Century at the time of the makeover. They decided to sell Century before the next makeover. In fact Bayley, then CEO, had visited the ship and made the decision to sell rather than doing a very costly rehab.

Constellation was built in 2002 so I think that's definitely link #1

Link #2 is confusing because they have a picture of Olympic restaurant, which was on the Millennium. That was built in 2000, though. The picture of the main dining room is Summit, which was built in 2001. But, Infinity had its inaugural sailing in March 2001. The description of the capacity of 2158 matches Summit. I'm going with Summit. Do I get a discount for being right?
