On voyager in August, they were offering casino patrons a chance to stay on the ship, paying just taxes and gratuities. Thanks for sharing this information. This isn't sustainable and Royal will likely act, at least for future deployments.

No doubt the cruise industry would be affected too. I'm surprised that plans weren't amended earlier given how long it's been going on for now.. The Chinese government won’t do anything dramatic as it’s being bad mouthed by everyone as it is and historically they have a policy of do nothing and wait. I don’t think we will see many ships in Hong Kong for a while.
Phamer55 Posted October 28, 2019 #656 Share Posted October 28, 2019 In the deployment announcement that Royal Caribbean has published, there is no release date for Mexico or even California coastals. So it certainly doesn't seem like RCI is bringing a ship to the US west coast to do anything other than Alaska, despite what Catalina Island and Mazatlan hope. Prices on Quantum 2/24/20 out of Hong Kong have fallen to the point that balconies pp are only $20 more than insides. Not feeling real good right now about flying into Hong Kong on Sunday, 2/23/20 for the 2/24 cruise. Glad disembarkation is in Singapore.

Normally I fly into a city the morning of, even if it’s very long haul, like Perth to Honolulu or Perth to Barcelona. This time, due to scheduling, I’m flying in two whole days before, even though it’s bali to Hong Kong. I considered changing it, but who knows what schedule changes the airlines might make? If you have a hotel booking that can be changed, you might consider monitoring hotel prices and either upgrading significantly or saving significantly. Folks on some of my cruises out of Hong Kong have done both, even with non refundable bookings.

Do you have an example of a "new itinerary" (i.e. new part of the world) that was announced without giving travel agents advanced noticed about in their deployment schedules? I've never seen that happen; the whole point is to give travel agents info of when new itineraries are expected to be released.

Thank you for the tips, we fly in a day early from Manila, less than a 2 hour flight, just care about getting fed and rested for boarding the next day. Previously spent a week in Hong Kong, not interested in much of anything besides getting on the Quantum ASAP as early as possible that Monday morning. It seems what is ending up to be the case is that Jewel will return to Dubai and therefor for multiple B2B potential sailings the ship will move from Dubai to Rome to Barcelona to Amsterdam to Copenhagen and on to Stockholm doing a Baltic and a Fjord sailing before settling into Baltic sailings before doing the same in reverse and ending up in Rome prior to the Suez sailing to Dubai for the season. They of course could just switch ships. I do not think Amsterdam will have 2 ships for a season at least. But, everything is always subject to change. I am just wondering why both Brilliance and Jewel are listed for Amsterdam every 12 nights, that could be an indicator for switching the ships. However, from week of 11th of Nov 2019, we should know officially. Further, regaridng Vision and Adventure: Vision is listed at Mediterranean riviera until October, so I don't think she will switch to Bayonne for Canada/NE itineraries in fall 2021, but serving a full Med season. That provides the possibilities that either Brilliance sails those longer itineraries via Québec, or Adventure again, I assume she's already based in Bayonne in 2021. Late in the selling cycle, this not unusual, happens on Anthem and Ovation as well (we upgraded from an inside to balcony for $15pp on a 10 night sailing) - sometimes balconies are cheaper than insides - Q class has the highest balcony/inside ratio.

There have been numerous occasions where I read info here on CC and pass it on to my TA before RC sends it to her. She MIGHT get a 24 hour or 20 minute heads up on new releases but most of the time NOT. RC might announce new ports/itinerary briefly before opening bookings but not much ahead of time. It can happen....but you can’t count on it! I agree the TAs “should be alerted” but it just doesn’t usually happen.
