cdwise Posted April 2, 2020 #2551 Share Posted April 2, 2020 After hearing how many ventilators are on the Zaandam I was curious and searched for what medical equipment was on a cruise ship and came up with https://www.acep.org/administration/resources/cruise-ships/prep---health-care-guidelines-for-cruise-ship-medical-facilities/ I was surprised that ventilators are part of the required equipment. I suspect that spare capacity now that there are no passengers on the other two ships that had a rendezvous with the Rotterdam before she left for her meeting with the Zaandam were transferred which is why Zaandam has so many available now.

Rotterdam must have picked up even more equipment for her half-sister, Zaandam, even COVID-19 tests.
AF-1 Posted April 2, 2020 #2558 Share Posted April 2, 2020 (edited) We are all human beings; it is good that the state of Florida, and the United States has let these ships dock and the passengers go home or go to the hospital. It is what we should do; its the right thing. Bless everyone involved Edited April 2, 2020 by AF-1
sailingsindy Posted April 2, 2020 #2559 Share Posted April 2, 2020 I just broke down in tears, seeing the people waving from their balconies. I think it has been really stressful. Praying for all involved. May the Lord Jesus have mercy on them.

Rare 3rdGenCunarder Posted April 2, 2020 #2561 Share Posted April 2, 2020 So strange to see nobody on deck for the arrival. Not even on balconies. Were passengers told to stay inside? I don't think I'd be able to do that. I'd want to be out there screaming and waving.

There are some people outside on their balconies. I'm watching it on our local news. One woman was waving. They have someone on the phone whose mom is on the ship. Welcome home! Sadly in this panic driven culture ships with 2,000 people and "only" ten needing hospitalization and 50 that need to stay onboard until they are healthy is a way different story than a few days ago when everyone was wringing their hands about overrunning South Florida hospitals...it is truly sad. The bigger story in my mind is how these ships were turned away by so many ports whiles planes, trains and subways still run in our country and in other countries.
AndreaB Posted April 2, 2020 #2564 Share Posted April 2, 2020 I’m crying to. So happy for the passengers that they now can continue on their journey home. They must be so relieved. God speed. Andrea

Rare POA1 Posted April 2, 2020 #2568 Share Posted April 2, 2020 The Zaandam had more escorts than a Coast Guard cutter with a load of coke. I cropped the photo down to the ship. 9
