I’ve reached that age - I now take a photo of where I park my car on multi-level car parksD0EA11F5-47C0-46F7-8BC7-244E6CFB9F35.thumb.jpeg.598b14a76e09034022d8dede7d586e53.jpeg

Welcome to the club!  I find myself taking pictures of lots of things, not just so that I'll remember but because it's easier than writing something down.  I have a photo album on my phone with pictures of things related to the house, like the model number of our refrigerator water filter, and the size of our air filter.  If I need to buy a replacement, the info is readily available on my phone.  If I'm not careful though, I end up with LOTS of pictures on my phone that I only needed once, like the box of crackers that Micheline wanted me to buy at the grocery store yesterday.

Edit: Speaking of which, time to go through my phone and delete a bunch of old photos and videos to free up space before our trip.  My phone's memory is about 90% full.  I think the memory in my brain is quite a bit more than that.

He keeps thinking about retiring early.  I keep saying hang in there and try to stick to plan to retire at 65 in March 2024.  .

I was originally going to retire at 62. I’m glad I stuck it out till 65. The extra money is nice. Tell him to hang in there it will go quickly.

They lost everything.

So sad. At least they were not hurt.

Welcome to my world. I have to really do it when we park at economy parking at the airport for a week.

You know I’ve never drank the stuff. Just does not seem appealing to me. I should at least try it someday. Who knows I might like it. I know it’s very popular.

@Sea Dogis your itinerary western Caribbean?

I was just on the James VanFleet, RCL weather guy and looks like the newest tropical storm is headed to PR so you should be fine if I am looking at correct ship/itinerary.

Yes I have been following James and the storm called “Invest 96L” now called “Fiona.”

Luckily it will miss us. It helps that we are doing  a western Caribbean route. I’m thankful we are not sailing out of San Juan this weekend.

I do not know if I shared. But these FOB for GTO do not give you the option of changing the batteries. When there  done you throw them out

I was still able to use the original from 2006.  There supposed to last 5 years. We got 16 years from first owner and me.

We heard that there is a lock specialist in Columbiana Ohio that replaces FOBS. Gotta find out if he programs them. If he sells them they should.

Wish me luck.

If it is just replicating a fob, there is a machine in Lowe's with an operator that will do it for you. Some cannot be replicated for security reasons, if programmed for that, but works 95% of the time. It is called Instafob.

If you don't feel like doing that, Amazon sells smaller versions of this and you can order one to do it yourself at home.

Perfect timing and glad she had the presence of mind to take a photo.  Will you be travelling there, Sue?

No, no plans. We've having an extended 'family meet Theo' at ours at the weekend and I have to get ready for that.

Quite honestly we can see better at home on the TV.

It is tempting though

We're now in the lull all families have (and we all feel part of the nations family at mo) between death and funeral.

Monday has been declared a Bank Holiday and most shops are venues are closing down.

We will probably be glued to the TV on Monday

I not only do this, but lately I have probably been breaking the law by recording important conversations.  I use the apple voice memo app.

Just yesterday, I hit the record button when the doctor came in to talk to her. I knew she would be too groggy to remember, and I may miss something. So when Susan asked what the doctor said, I told her I knew exactly what he said.

I also used this for one of my calls to Royal, when I cancelled our cruises.  By the way, voice memo uses about 250 Mb per hour of recording time.

Probably someone that got a great bonus.

But it did little for Pontiac.   May they RIP.  Pontiac that is.

Also

Jade is beautiful!

Does she have run of the house or do you limit her access to some areas at night?

Lizzy is just 15 weeks old and still very inquisitive.

She has her own comfy bedroom at night and family room kitchen and mud room when were home.

Just wish she would stay in this kitten phase for awhile.

Take care

@sgmn Did your nephew decide against working in Australia this year?

I think so. He's got his grades to attend uni but it's deferred till next year. I can't understand why he hadn't got a job or made plans for the gap year. It's nearly four months since exams finished 🤷‍♀️

My kids had part time jobs from the age of 16 and paper rounds from 14 but hopefully he will find something worthwhile to do soon

Recording what the doctor said is a great idea..most of the time all we hear is bla bla bla when under conditions such as your DD is going through.🙏🙏

My morning so far:

First of all the hubs is out of town helping friends get tractors ready for auction so I am holding down the fort.

I have to get blood tests for my Dr. appt. next week.  FASTING blood tests.

I jump out of bed with help from Annabel who will not stop playing foot monster starting at 5.  I let dogs out, feed everyone and hop in the car.

Drive 20 min. to the lab at the local hospital.  I am hungry and I want my coffee with creamer.

Walk in and the lady behind the desk who is not wearing a mask, shoves one at me saying it is mandatory.  I realize she is older and it is her job so I artfully arrange it with lots of space around my nose and continue on.

The very nice man who is drawing the blood, half-way through says damn the needle came out.  Give him my other arm and we finish.  He was very sorry and I assured him that it was all ok.  Big bruise coming soon.

Get home and raise the garage door while talking to the hubs on the phone.  Notice the snake hanging down from the door.  Hubs says close the door again so it can't fall in the garage.  Notice once closed there is no sign of said snake.  Open door again, find snake curled up in part of the door.  Go get garden fork where the hubs says it is located and start poking (gently) at snake.  Finally the snake got mad enough to drop at my feet where I could gently grab it with the garden fork and escort it to the nursery next door. I asked my husband if he heard me scream when it dropped at my feet and he assured me he did.

Now all is well, I am eating my breakfast, drinking my coffee and the garage door is closed and I don't need to go anywhere else today.

All before 8:30 a.m.

Wondering if Jack is a "sabra" / "tzabar" like DH 😉 ....

A sabra or tzabar is an informal-turned-formal modern Hebrew term that defines any Jew born in Israel.

When I've managed an eye clinic, my Prof./"boss" was speaking very quickly, and the patients, being anyhow in a fragile and emotional mode, had trouble keeping up with her... I'll hear all the time "I've said it and I'll repeat it again", "I'll say it for the 3rd time", finishing with "my secretary will explain again... [huh???]", so many of them took to recording her....

Me too, have seen at least one every year since moving to SC except this year.  Holding my breath for where it will show up, definitely not a fan.  Worst was the one curled on the doormat when I opened the front door.  Now look before stepping out every time.

Still getting used to the "wildlife" here.  Not sure how this guy got to our house but it was under our car which had been in the driveway yesterday, a couple inches long.

OB and Maryann, Charlie got sick on the cruise.  First blood sugar was low and he was getting lightheaded.  Since he’s a heart transplant survivor, we got worried and went to medical.  They did a bunch of blood work, ekg etc.  He was sick to his stomach and that’s when I mentioned food poisoning.  They decided no, gave him anti nausea IV and told him to monitor symptoms.  Back in the cabin he vomited(sorry) all he had eaten and finally felt better.  Anyway, they still insist maybe it was diverticulitis so $480.00 later is where we are at!  Never tested for Covid either which I found strange.  Sent obligatory email to Royal, got nonsense answer back.

Just booked a cruise to the Great Barrier Reef with DD (not with Royal).   Assuming we don’t get diverted by cyclones/floods, I look forward to sharing photos with you all. Anyone done a GBR cruise? Previously done Kuranda skyrail & sailing day cruise with snorkeling off the boat. Might do Whitehaven beach, sailing to the low isles and snorkeling off an island + something else.
Countdown to tropical cocktails starts now 🍹🌴🪸🐠

Dad found a large huntsman (spider) in his house this week.  He calmly ushered it out the front door.  Thankfully it hasn’t returned because it was the biggest one he has seen for a while.  Luckily for you guys, he didn’t think to take a photo.

That would be worse then the snakes.  Yikes I don't like big spiders or little ones either.

This is the 5th snake this fall.  I think it will get cool early.  The cats brought 2 inside (thankfully we saw them), one was heading for my husband's shop and another one was on its way to the house.  The downside of having a cat door and cat lounging area on the back porch is that they have access to snakes, lizards, frogs and toads who wander into their pen.

Hello all!  Home from my wonderful 2 week trip to France and Spain.  Everything went off without any hitches which is so amazing since we were planes, trains and automobiles 🤣.  Too many pages to catch up on but wanted to let all my UK friends know how sorry and sad I am about the Queen. She was an amazing monarch and loved so dearly.  Yesterday, while in the Delta lounge during our 6 hour layover, I watched the replay of the service in Scotland and was so moved.

Well, off to the laundry room….😊

Jennifer

Glad you had a wonderful trip.

@ReneeFLL This may or may not interest you.  Sculpture by the Sea is on from 21 Oct-7 Nov.  Hugely popular free event that runs on the scenic walkway from Bondi Beach to Tamarama Beach.

That sounds interesting. The only day we would be there when this is happening would be on turn around day which would be the 29th. Do you know how long it would take to get to Bondi Beach? Could we take public transportation or would we need an Uber or something? Thanks.

How's this for a coincidence. My sister in law turned on the news last night about 9pm, it was showing live feed of people filing in past our late Queens coffin in Westminster Hall. There on the screen was clearly a member of our extended family with her 92 year old mother . My SIL took a photo of the TV screen. It is such a good photo, shows just the two of them in front of the coffin along with the officers of the vigil.

Amazing when you think of the hundreds of thousands that will file past in the next few days

I read yesterday that the line of people waiting to pay their respects is approx. 3 miles long!

He doesn't know how to swim and majority of my friends Israeli husbands don't either.  That is way weird.

Have you tried submitting under your regular insurance first?  I have been to medical more than I care to admit.  I have submitted to travel insurance in the past but have also submitted to my health insurance.  The bill I submitted had a Miami address on it and my insurance covered it as out of network and we just ate the rest of it.  I forget how much it was for but I know it was less than what they charged Charlie as there were no labs.  Our high medical costs from influenza on Anthem and covid on Quantum were no cost.  They charged over $1,200 for my DH and I for visits and meds for the flu after telling us it was going to be no cost.  Guest services corrected that onboard.
