I have made it to the top of Diamond head, 3 times.

And every time I hate those last long staircase before the turret (sp)

Once a high school was on top selling t shirts "I hiked diamond head" it included the number of stairs and distance.  I still have it today.

Great stamina you have  for doing this hike, an awesome accomplishment. Congrats.

Thanks for sharing.

Good for you!  I hate those staircases, too.  You just have to take a deep breath and just go.  I counted the first set.  It was like 68 steps.  The second was like 99.  And then there are the metal circular staircases.  When you get to the top, your have to duck your head to climb up and out to the lookout.  I hit my head on that yesterday.  Ow!

Looks like you had a beautiful day to hike Diamond head.

When we hiked it, the last time we were there, I couldn’t believe how many were doing it with a baby in a stroller.  I think they were deceived by that easy start, then got to that long staircase.  We passed a few who were carrying the stroller up those stairs.

edit: I see you posted a picture of the stairs.  Now imagine carrying a kid in a stroller up them!

NY Rangers vs NJ Devils playoff game.

Let's Go Rangers 20230422_193757.thumb.jpg.af26e98f8d5dace0501ccba0ffdadf38.jpg

Unfortunately that didn’t end as planned. We spent a lot of time yesterday “yelling” at the TV during the Vegas/Winnipeg and Toronto/Tamp games. In our case the right teams won.

Today we will have hockey on from 1pm to midnight, and some Blue Jays/Yankees in jump on the remote. The weather has been favourable for staying indoors, being cool and wet. Hopefully it will be nice enough to BBQ ribs this afternoon. 😋

Those stairs remind me of the "tunnel stairs" at Castillo San Felipe del Morro in San Juan:

I'm sitting here at work and my knees are protesting me just LOOKING at the photos!

I was thinking the same thing about El Morro.

I have been off the boards for the last week due to the flooding we had down here in Fort Lauderdale so I’m behind. I’m heart broken to read about your diagnosis. You have such a lovely family and they will be there for you as you work thru this difficult time. We will also be here anytime you want to talk. Staying positive will be a great help and Never Give Up.

Renee, so sorry to read about the flooding and how it impacted you personally.  Hope things are cleaned up by now and I totally agree with your comments to @Ozark_Kid, John.

Good morning.
Happy Sunday.

These last few weeks have been so hectic with preparing for our granddaughter’s Baptism as well as the drive to babysit for Zoey. As well as 2 major stressful goings on in our lives. Both are eagerly awaited.

The drive is worth it. I usually can make it with one pit stop. ( 4 hours 20 min) Getting older these legs move better with a 10-15 min walk at one of the rest stops on rte 71. I probably look goofy. Probably should borrow a dog so I look like I am on a mission.
Anyway my one friend asked me if the drive is getting to me.
How could it. It is like a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow.

Oh. I wish this thread would have summaries every week. I am so far behind. Little time to read.

But with all sincerity. You are all in my prayers.  And I have plenty of time to pray as I drive.

Be safe.

Below my pot of gold.

I hope your cleanup is done or nearly done. It must’ve been even more difficult with Mike being away often.

I have to ask -- is this a typo (Maltese / Poodle mix), is she a complete mutt/poodle mix, or does she just poop a lot???

Lol.  Just saw this.  Auto correct does weird stuff.

By the way,  we got lucky.  She the best dog ever.  Except for the snake hunting part.

I walked down on the ramp but walked up on the stairs to see how my new knee would do. The knee did fine but boy was I out of breath. That's a brutal climb.

@George C Wishing you a good trip back to NYC soon!

I grew up in Forest Hills, but my Dad grew up in Glendale and his best friend and wife lived in Glendale off of Myrtle Ave a few blocks west of St Pancras.

My Mom would often go shopping in Ridgewood. I recall Lobel’s, Urdang’s,Woolworths and Lerner Shops.

We shopped the “Avenue” long before malls developed in Nassau County.
