But will they require the vaccine? I'm not sure there will be a vaccine that soon...and I really don't want to take the first run of vaccines, either.  We're not cruising until next July... we have 13 months to see what happens

I plan on taking vaccine asap ..whatever I can get it.

Question.  Test is only applicable the moment taken.  Could be exposed in the 72 hrs.  Also need fast response testing.   Hard to get tested without symptoms, I think.  Also, who's paying?   Not sure if this will last.

Many/Most are getting tested without symptoms now for various reasons, possible exposure, Medical procedures, random. screening. My Mother is having her 2nd test in few hrs. This ones a screening, has Surgery in few days. Niece goes to University of Arizona , End of Term last month before returning home they gave test to all still in Dorms. No Cost. We still put her in Hotel for 2 weeks before returning home just to be safe. So far think Insurance, Medicaid/Medicare paying all Testing/Copays. Some point we may have pay for testing or Copay, not sure purchased cost of different Tests if bought but curious what prices are

@island lady

Pat, have you seen this about Alaska

Thanks...yes I have.  Been following it for obvious reasons quite closely.  We are covered though.  My sister is doctor in Vero Beach...specialist in infectious diseases.  She was just here, (we are staying in condo on the beach in Jensen Beach right now)  We talked about getting us tested before we head up.  Don't have a problem getting tested again later while we are up there... should we need to.

Though things can change, as things open up.  We don't fly up there until August 1st.  Alaska is in last part of stage two opening up.  Talked to one of the B&Bs we are staying at up there, she said things are pretty much wide open up there right now.

Trust me I remember. Cruised week of 9/11, was in Florida Oct2001 week of Anthrax attack. Though was surprised when got to airport after a Dec2001 Cruise where having everyone take shoes off. Was within hrs of Reids attempt. But Feb 2002 my now Ex and I got to airport boarding plane and started our Cruise no problems. Was interesting as she left home without any form of ID. Fortunately I'm always ready, brought her Birth Certificate which was only thing 2 different Airlines, Security and Cruise Line needed from her. At least Disney World was frisking everyone and had tables set up going threw every bag weeks after 9/11... All that happening then 4 of 5 yrs I was on Cruise a Family Member at home Died. Within 15 Month Period Flying 2 different Planes had Flat Tires, another one had Cracked Windshield, another Electrical Cockpit Failures, another had lighting issues, another had no AirCon, and one had broke toilets. All causing returning Airport, Gate or Emergency Landings at Alt Airports. For while nobody wanted travel with me...

As a public service, nothing personal.....would you mind listing future flights/ cruises you have booked? Thanks in advance

I know, Right... Was one other unique situation, in 80/90's 5 out of 6 times I arrived at new Army Post we had Tornado Warning within first 3-4 days. But each was in South during Spring Tornado Season in middle of "Dixie Alley". Was 6 for 6 if count happening in first Month. First time happened we'd all just got back from seeing Bob Hope and just got back to Barracks

Shoot, Testing? After Quarantine at my AZ Winter Home for 12 weeks being safe, just flew home MI where Flight didnt require Masks let alone any screening including at Airport

Oh, not good!  Did you fly into DTW?

I am literally on hold with Airbnb trying to get a reservation cancelled with no penalty, because DTW and Wayne County are the worst place to travel in right now, except for NY.  I checked their stats yesterday in preparation for a call with my bank, and even adjusted for population differences, their cases are 4.5 times CA County where I live, and the death rate is 2.5 times as high.  Their curve is just going up.

We have family in Washtenaw County who have to still shelter in place because there's so much coming and going between the two counties, that it's still not safe.

Hope you're in some other area of MI.

We got tested a few weeks ago through Project Baseline.  It's all over the US, free, and we got our (negative) results emailed to us in two days.

I am, Mid-Michigan, Lansing. You know where we can Legally Open Carry Guns into the Capital, just like the Founding Father's... Flew into Grand Rapids, it's Direct Flight from other Home near Mesa-Gateway in AZ.

Probably yes.  Just saw an ad from someone I follow on Insta - Sri Lanka is opening on 8/01 to apparently everyone.  Need a COVID-19 free certificate issued not earlier than 72 hours before boarding your flight.

But, they aren’t stopping there.  You will also be tested at the airport, tested after 5 days and tested once more after 10 days if you are still there.

I realize Sri Lanka may not be on anyone’s radar (it’s not someplace I’m going to be traveling to anytime soon!) but it goes along with the OP’s question about other countries.  May just be another example of the “new normal”.

Actually Sri Lanka has a very large tourist industry and is a good indicator.

Over $4.5 billion in tourism revenue, 500,000 Sri Lankans employed in some way with tourism sector.

We've been there twice and would happily return.

Just curious, where did you check the stats?  I live in Wayne County, MI, about half an hour away from DTW.  We are having restrictions lifted, businesses and restaurants are opening up again because the numbers have improved.

Five months after 9/11 I was on a Jet Blue flight from NYC to New Orleans .I could have walked through the gates carrying a gun. There was zero security.I got so angry that I told the airline reps that there was more security at my library.

I sometimes used a box cutter with my job and a year or so after 9/11 I had one in my briefcase that I totally forgot about.  I made it on a flight with it in my bag and didn't realize it until I got to my hotel that night.  I was so mad because it was a really heavy duty one that could have caused a lot of damage.  I reported it to when I arrived home, but no idea if it made a difference or not.

Hopefully our experiences were not the norm.

More than that,,,, you could be infected at the time you take a test and unless you are actively shedding the virus, you will test negative. That's why there is a 14 day quarantine because it could take that long to start exhibiting symptoms.

We were just on a flight. The airline had every seat available for sale (no blocked seats for social distancing). And while masks were "required" to be worn onboard, the flight attendants were constantly reminding people standing in the aisles waiting for the bathroom, who were standing right next to seated passengers, to put their masks back on. Or passengers that had masks hanging off one ear. Much, much less compliance than you would have expected. People didn't care and were just going through the motions.

It is just like the guy on the beach in Fla 3 months ago who implied that nothing will happen to him and everything is exaggerated.

We tested positive 2 months ago. Have tried to be retested(to see our grandkids). Doctors say no, we are cured. There are not enough tests for this.

No way!  Find a different doctor.
