Waiting for the official printed policy from RC to be published in our future cruise documents that advises us that masks are mandatory. If RC recommends/requires we wear a mask fine we will respectfully do so. We'll bring them and be prepared to wear a mask but we won't wear a mask unless the staff actually enforces the policy like a lot of the current policies. Erik101 Posted June 10, 2020 #31 Share Posted June 10, 2020 Come back to this thread in August when the lines start sailing again. If they do start sailing, someone will post their onboard experience on YouTube. You’ll get your answer then.

I even wear a mask and rubber gloves when visiting my mom who's going to be 102 and my kids as I don't want to take a chance-both for me and them. I believe this will be the new norm until a effective vaccine is developed. If you find wearing a mask difficult, you might as wells stay home as this will be a requirement going forward. Ps. Wonder what the impact will be in the next 10 days because of these demonstrations. The other option is, YOU stay home if you are worried. OfcSupport Posted June 10, 2020 #33 Share Posted June 10, 2020 There is a recent Conde Nast Traveler article that discusses possible changes to cruising as a result of the pandemic. They mention wearing masks in all public places. When I go out in the heat now with a mask I can only keep it on for a short time before it's too hot and uncomfortable. I have several comped cruises. I will cancel them all if forced to wear a mask. I can't imagine sitting by the pool or working out at the gym with a mask on.
pcur Posted June 10, 2020 #34 Share Posted June 10, 2020 From what I'm reading here, people are wearing very uncomfortable masks. If it's required, and you want to cruise, look for some soft cotton ones with double ties. That way you can adjust the fit to be comfortable, and untying the top tie, the mask can be off your face, but handy to put back up. I make our masks, so they are comfortable for us to wear.
AllureOfVacation Posted June 10, 2020 #35 Share Posted June 10, 2020 I might be in the minority, but I do not care if I would have to wear a mask in public places during the cruise. Sure, it is not "normal", but under these circumstances it would not be a problem for me. Sometimes, e. g. at work, I do not even recognize that I am still wearing that thing. A ship has lots of tight spaces, therefore I think keeping distance might be almost impossible at times.
cruisegirl1 Posted June 10, 2020 #36 Share Posted June 10, 2020 (edited) Their ship/their rules. If it becomes a requirement, and you don’t want it, then don’t sail. Went to Costco last week. Masks were required. If you want to be in the store, you have to wear a mask. If you don’t wanna wear a mask, go to another store. Seems simple. Iamcruzin Posted June 10, 2020 #40 Share Posted June 10, 2020 (edited) So here is some input what is happening locally. Today restaurants opened on Long Island. They are only doing outdoor seating at this time. I just picked my son up from the train station. It was like a street fair. It was over crowded and nobody was wearing a mask. I poked my head in my barber shop and made an appointment for tomorrow. They were wearing masks and I will be wearing mine tomorrow. From what I'm witnessing here on day 2 of the restaurant opening in the epicenter of the pandemic I would be very surprised if masks will be required once cruising gets started up and if they are it probably won't be enforced. Spurschick Posted June 10, 2020 #50 Share Posted June 10, 2020 At the end of the day if CDC require it as part of conditions to restart and sail then yes we will happily agree to wear. I agree that in heat they can become laborious to wear, but Universal Studios has now set up up U-rest areas that you can walk through with no mask to have a break, maybe they could do something similar. Inside in AC no issues wearing. I’m sure you won’t have to wear them on your balcony or at table in restaurants. May be required in confined high traffic areas, casino, shops etc. The biggest challenge to the cruise line is the health of their staff as well as passengers. It would only take a small outbreak in crew to potentially bring everything back to a grinding halt. One airline resumed flights recently and promptly cancelled them again as passengers refused to wear for the duration of the flight. I hope if it is mandatory on ships they don’t run into the same scenario.
