One of the funniest comedians I have heard was Jeanne Robertson. She sadly passed away in 2021 but I am sure you can still find her on you tube.  She was a classy and very funny lady.

i will add father David to the celebration list. I like to make that list longer! @grapau27can you give me the dates of his pilgrimage please so I don’t have to go searching? Thank you

Good Morning on this sunny Friday morning in the Low Country of South Carolina.

Interesting collection of Days.  I’m no poet, but enjoy reading poetry.  i don’t have any clean jokes, nor do I have any of the not so clean variety either.  i will definitely kiss my mate, as i do everyday/

I will take a pass on the meal (curry is not my thing) as well as the wine and cocktail.

I have not been to Kirkwall, but will be calling there on my Baltic Cruise this summer.  I have arranged a private tour and there will be six others joining Jim and me on the tour.  Looking forward to seeing some photos from those of the Dailyites who have been there.

Yesterday i made some progress on preparing for our cruise.  I sent out some emails to private tour providers and hope I hear back from them today.  I also was able to join two private tours.  This is the first time in a long time that we have decided to join some shipboard tours.  We rarely do this.  We did this because we have a ton of shipboard credit and need to use it. The tours we selected seem to be good ones so we hope we will not be disappointed.

Today i will dedicate a good part of the day to the same task plus paying some bills.

Thank you to Sandi, Debbie, Ann, Dixie and Eva for keeping this thread going.  Where would we be without all of you!

Prayers for all who are on the cares list.  Cheers to those who are celebrating and cruising.

God Bless,

Terri

Good Friday morning!  Thanks to all of you who sent supportive messages on Wednesday on the anniversary of my late DH's passing, it really meant a lot.

Thanks for the Fleet and Daily reports Sandi and Rich.   Today's quote is a good one, not a fan of poetry and like all comedy, clean and raunchy.   I am looking forward to photos of today's port.

The cocktail looks kind of strange and the wine too hard to find.    Will wait for today's meal and congratulations to @dfish DS's retirement.  Lake City Michigan is a charming small town and it is truly on a big lake.  They have a great breakfast restaurant that we hit sometimes on our drives up to the cabin.

@marshhawk Sorry about your Iriving, it is never easy.

@St Pete Cruiser I am so sorry you had to end your cruise.   I hope you get out of the hospital soon.

Last night's talk on Deer and Vole Control at the library went really well and it is always nice to have people that are engaged and want to be there rather than sometimes being a featured speaker at a garden club where some members may have no interest.   And I made it home in time to watch the 4th pick in the NFL draft.

Great news for the Ravens yesterday and an excellent WR pick in last night's draft.   No picks second round for the Ravens unless they trade up.  Until they signed Lamar and OBJ I was probably not going to pay for YouTube NFL streaming but I guess I will now.   Have a nice day.  Nancy

You might be a Redneck if on laundry day you walk around naked.

Ok, I guess y’all thought I did not put much thought into a clean joke. Well, hear is one that borders on clean/dirty, I may have told this before.

Several years ago I was having medical issues and was required to have a colonoscopy. The doctor performing the colonoscopy was assisted by Nurse Judy, my neighbor for 39 years!  Fortunately the day of my procedure it was Judy’s day off. Otherwise it might have been quite bad. I could have pictured Judy assisting the doctor that day and at the end of the day, no play on words, Judy goes home to her husband Bill. As Judy arrives home, her husband Bill would ask her, “How was your day Honey.” Judy would then reply, “It was great until I had to confront another a-hole from the neighborhood.” 😀

Good morning from a sunny central Texas  Unfortunately, it will not stay sunny as severe thunderstorms are predicted for this afternoon and evening.  It is currently 54F and will warm to about 75F about the time the storms are predicted to arrive.

Our neighbor hired a band for a concert this evening.  It was supposed to be outdoors, but with the weather predicted to turn nasty, it will be in his garage and car port.  Yesterday afternoon, he was busy moving his motorhome and cars to a neighbor's port since they are in Arizona.  I hope the concert can still happen.

After a couple of early errands, it will be laundry day.

I will celebrate clean comedy, but some off color comedy is good too.  One of my first jobs was working in the pipeline construction division of an oil company, and those guys could tell some pretty good raunchy jokes.  They always closed the office doors during the joke telling until they discovered I was more upset about being left out than by the jokes.  I'm not a fan of most poetry, but will celebrate kiss your mate day.

Another interesting quote from Albert Einstein.

We'll skip the meal (curry) and the drink.  I would like to try the wine, but not at that price.

We've been to Kirkwall, and I'll repost my pictures in a few minutes.

@bennybear  Brenda, I hope your recovery from surgery is going well, and you are resting comfortably.

@cunnorl  Charlene, I hope the board meeting goes smoothly today.

@Heartgrove  Jack, it's always nice when our kids still need us, no matter how old they are.

@superoma  Eva, don't be sorry.  We appreciate all the work you are doing on the lists, and will read them whenever they are posted.

@dobiemom  I hope the sleeping situation improves soon.

@cruising sister  Lorraine, grandmas are for spoiling the grandkids.  Glad you DGS did well with the tooth being pulled.

@dfish  Debbie, thanks for the information about the healing powers of various spices.

@Cruzin Terri  Terri, I'm glad you made some good progress on your upcoming cruise.

@ottahand7  Nancy, i'm glad your talk went well and was well received.

We have been to Kirkwall once in 2017 on the Prinsendam with Captain DD.   It was raining all day, but we still walked around the area where the shuttle dropped us off and up to the cathedral.  Then the light rain turned into a heavy, horizontal downpour that lasted so long we had to brave the rain to get back to the shuttle pickup point.  Our raincoats kept us dry except for our lower pants legs which were soaked.

Good morning, thanks for the Fleet Report and Daily!  I appreciate comedy, clean and not so clean.  Vulgar comedy, no.  I think I'll pass on the poetry reading, and will definitely kiss my mate today.

It's amazing how much dirt and clutter one can accumulate on the deck over the course of the winter.  Obviously it isn't sealed and airtight like a room in our house, but you'd think the dust, etc., would just stop coming in at some point.  While DH was at a gig with his band, I spent the afternoon on the deck trying to get it back to where we can use it comfortably again.  I swept up the big things, then vacuumed, then damp mopped and finally steam cleaned the floors.  And then there was the dusting - we have several tiered stands with "things" on them on mirrors . . . they were awful!  I went through about half a bottle of windex just cleaning the darn things.  DH loves them, though, so I do it for him.  Today will be spent cleaning the cushions and making sure all the cobwebs are gone from the ceiling; the windows are going to have to wait until it's warmer and I can get up on the ladder to do them.

@marshhawk you and Chuck will be in my heart today as you say goodbye to Irving.

@St Pete Cruiser a venomous spider bite?  Yikes!  I hope you're fixed up and back home soon!

I'll take a pass on today's menu suggestion - the only way I really like pumpkin is in pie, and DH only likes pumpkin pie if there's more whipped cream than filling.  It's Friday night pizza night, so we'll check out the online menus to see what appeals to us.  I hope we'll be able to have our first meal of the year on our deck tonight.  And wine.

Prayers to all who are in need, cheers to everyone with celebrations.

Smooth Sailing!  ☺️☺️☺️

Gerry

Thanks for the photos.  We will be in Kirkwall in the beginning of July.  I have arranged a private tour called “Orkney in a Nutshell”.  There will be eight of us.  I am happy to see some photos.  Hope we have a nice sunny day.

today is also the national day of mourning in Canada.

“Each year on April 28, Canadians remember and honour those who have been killed or suffered injuries or illness at work. This day, known as the National Day of Mourning, was established by the Canadian Labour Congress in 1984 and made official in 1991.”

Good morning everyone. It was a beautiful day yesterday in Victoria, Just arriving in Vancouver. Our plan today is another walking tour through China town with a few stops to sample some cuisine. Then it will be back to ship and do some packing. Will disembark in Seattle where we will spend the day on a wine tasting tour and fly home Sunday. This has been a very nice cruise experience.

The flowers in front of the famous Empress hotel yesterday were gorgeous and in full bloom.

Headed to breakfast in a few and we also will have to clear customs at 9:30 which always seems as a waste of time and manpower.

Thanks for the Fleet Report. @StPeteCruiserOuch! Sorry to hear about your trauma and hospitalization. Prayers for a speedy recovery.

Great pictures. I have a story about the The Empress Hotel.

Years ago we were staying in Victoria in July and while touring downtown we met this man who was from Phoenix attending a Fireman’s convention at the hotel. The day we met him it was over 90 degrees and no a/c in the hotel. All the fans in the area had been sold so he had no fan in his room. So the poor guy left Phoenix where the temp was over 100 degrees to the cool Northwest and this was what he experienced.

Good afternoon from the middle of the Atlantic. We are rocking and rolling here. High winds and swells have the ship with a lot of motion. Outdoor furniture is latched down and pools are drained. So it’s indoor activities only, mainly.

Prayers for those in need. I try to keep up with the goings on of all the Dailyites.

A comedy story: several years ago I was on a Caribbean cruise where one of the entertainers was a stand-up comic based in New York City. Her act was clean enough, but very NYC-centric, and most of the passengers were from the Midwest. Most of the audience couldn't understand her jokes at all. My part of New York is in the Midwest except by the map, but I read the Times and the New Yorker. I understood them but didn't think they were funny.

I don't think I would really enjoy pumpkin curry, and the cocktail is another waste of good Bourbon. Its name has slang meanings in both British and American English, and both meanings are offensive. There is also a cocktail called a Chi Chi that I would like even less, because it's mostly pineapple juice and cream of coconut. The wine would be OK. I haven't been to Orkney, again not for want of trying.

Incidentally, my local paper is a sibling of one in the Hudson Valley and reports that in August, Atlantic Airways will start service between Newburgh Stewart Airport and the Faroe Islands. Only one flight a week, but if you didn't want to stay a week you could also connect in one direction via Iceland, Scotland, or Denmark. I have flown Atlantic Airways between Iceland and the Faroes, which is how I came to have an unscheduled weekend in Iceland after missing the connection.

Errands for this morning: clothing drop-off at a charity shop, buy paint for the garage steps, and buy Shiraz as cardboardeaux, since all three stores are in the same direction.

Good morning all!

Sandi @StLouisCruisersYou and I can move in slow motion together today.  Another bad night, I was awake from 12:30 until after 3:30 am.  Then up earlier than I would have liked.  And coffee isn't helping.

I'll pass on the drink, meal and wine today, have not been to this port.  Thanks for all photos posted!

It will warm up to the high 70's F tomorrow and mid 70's today.  Glad to see we'll get some showers for the flowers when we're gone next week!

Cheers for all celebrating and prayers for all on the care list.

Back from the chiropractor. Straightened me out.

Back from the dentist. Having multiple procedures down to save what teeth I have left. Last year I had three wisdom teeth pulled. A few months ago, a root canal. Now working on treating my gingivitis. My teeth cost almost as much as a car by the time I am finished. Unfortunately, dental insurance does not cover a whole lot.

Loving the wonderful pictures.

Watching the Juneau web cam as Carnival Miracle sails in.

These will be the longest 30 days ever!😁

@marshhawk  Annie, you, Chuck and Irving are in my thoughts as you say your final goodbyes.  I hope Irving's crossing the Rainbow Bridge is peaceful, and you're at peace with your decision.  You gave Irving a good, much loved life, and the final gift of a peaceful, pain free release.  ((((((HUGS))))))

Good morning everyone.  Clean comedy and great poetry are both good things.  And Einstein sets a fine goal with his quote.  I’ve already kissed my mate.  Yum to the pumpkin curry and the drink.  Wish I could drink red wine, as it tastes so lovely.

Darn on Kirkwall.  We were supposed to be there soon, but had to cancel our UK cruise.  I’m anxiously awaiting release of Europe 2025 to find something similar.  That’s when DGD is in school all day, so DD can more easily dog-sit for longer stretches.  Meanwhile…thanks for the great photos.

I hope @bennybear Brenda is recovering well and keeping spirits up.  So important for good healing.  Saying prayers for all on the care list.  The list is too long!

Many thanks to the Daily team.  Wishing all a pleasant Friday.

Good Afternoon Everyone, thanks for the daily fleet report.  I’m a little late since work was so busy this morning.  It’s a beautiful day here in New England.  I’ll pass on today’s meal suggestion, like others I’ll have my pumpkin in pie.  I hope everyone has a good day today.

I’d certainly like a good piece of blueberry pie.  Maybe next month when we are on the Zaandam.
