@Crazy For Cats, Jake, a VeryHappy Birthday to you!

and a Happy Birthday to Sandi’s DS. @StLouisCruisers! He is a very busy man.

Bon Voyage to Roy @rafinmd. I am enjoying traveling with you vicariously.

It was 32 when we went outside this morning. It will only get up to 42 as a high today. I may even break out the big coat but it seems too soon,

We are very well acquainted with pneumonia here. It has a really long recovery period when there have been multiple episodes. Tana says that she is feeling better but she is quite debilitated physically this time. We have no aide on the weekends but slowly work through the necessary tasks together. I told her it was Happy Hour Day and we both had a good laugh.
I would love to see today’s port. Maybe some day. Thanks to all that post pictures. And thanks to all for the Daily. It is such a positive part of the day for me.

@StLouisCruisers  Happy birthday to your DS!

image.png.b4f415f83ee922a21037979e9723aed1.png

Good Sunday morning everyone.  Thanks for the Daily and Fleet Reports Rich.  Perhaps I will have French Dip for lunch today at the casino.   Pneumonia is serious,  I still remember how I reacted to my Prevnar shot with a painful, red and swollen arm.  No Happy Hour for us today.  Full prices all the way in the sports book.   A wacky quote by Mel Brooks.

Both of today's drinks are good in my book and I will wait for judgement on the meal. I have not been to today's port.

Thanks for the cares and celebrations reports @JazzyV.  Congratulations to @aliaschief for booking that wonderful Ring of Fire cruise.   Prayers for everyone on our care list.   Thinking of you today @RMLincoln as you are winding down in your Maryland home.  I hope that all your final work goes smoothly.  Prayers for all in war zones through no fault of their own, Israel, Ukraine and the innocents in Gaza.

We had a short snow squall this morning while I was still lounging in bed but might get to 50 today with 4 more days with sun and 50s through Thursday.   I like weeks like we have coming up, nothing on the calendar other than an evening garden club on Thursday.  Maybe another movie, we really liked The Killers of the Flower Moon.  John will probably win the pick this time with the Marvels.   Maybe I can have popcorn next time.   Have a lovely day!    Go Ravens!    Nancy

Good morning, thanks for the Fleet Report and Daily!  I enjoy a French Dip sandwich once in a while, although I haven't ordered one in ages.  Pneumonia is a debilitating condition that would be great if it could be eradicated.  Both DH and I have our shots for it.  Happy Hour gets it's own day?  Who knew!  Bless the computer scientists who developed the WWW; it has enabled us to stay in touch with family and friends around the world.  Today's quote is weird to me.

7:50AM and it's still dark, but it isn't freezing, we're at 0 right now.  Ever the optimist, we should reach a high of +6 (42F), which for November 12th is quite acceptable.  I noticed yesterday morning the cars on the street had a thick layer of frost on them - DH was glad he put his in the garage.

Welcome home @marshhawk and @Lady Hudson; I hope you both enjoyed your cruises.

@rafinmd Bon Voyage!

@Crazy For Catswishing you a Happy Birthday with many healthy returns of the day!

@StLouisCruisers Happy Birthday to your DS.

@RMLincolnI'm excited for your move - it's a big one, but you sound like you've got everything under control.  Good luck to you!

Not a lot happening for us today, except that this afternoon we're heading over to our friends (the ones we'll be cruising with in February) to discuss hotels in Ft Lauderdale.  Right now we've got one booked, but aren't happy having to pay a king's ransom ($500+ CAD a night) for a clean, safe place to lay our heads and keep our luggage while we go out shopping, dining, etc., so we're looking at alternatives.  Ideally we'd like to be in the Port Everglades area or near the FLL airport and can take Uber or taxis to the places we want to get to.  Any suggestions from my Daily family on places you might have stayed that fill these requirements?

I'd like the drink of the day (minus the salt), would like the wine, and would also enjoy the soup of the day.  It's looking like I won't be in charge of dinner tonight as our friends are making a big pot of chili and home made buns that we'll enjoy at their kitchen table tonight.  And wine.

Prayers for everyone who is in need, especially the innocents involved in wars.  Cheers for all with celebrations today.

Smooth Sailing! ☺️☺️☺️

Gerry

Good morning Dailyites.

I can't believe it is already Sunday. Last week flew by.

Our little neighbor pup goes home today. Her parents were on a cruise out of Galveston and are on their way home. Oliver wants to play with her but she's a senior dog (12) and prefers napping over playing.

Prayers have been lifted for all on our cares list. Thank you Vanessa.

Happiest Birthday to Sandi's son and @Crazy For Cats

Wishing everyone a great week ahead. Blessings to you on this Sunday morning.

Thank you Rich, thank you Debbie, thank you Vanessa, thank you Ann, and thank you Dixie for all your work. And thank you everyone for being here!

I am not necessarily a huge fan of Carnival - but I have to praise the ship for the wonderful ceremony yesterday honoring the Veterans and families onboard! It really made me proud to have served and that I am an American!

Stay Safe, and prayers for those in need.

- Jack

Good morning, everyone!

It is a sun shiny morning here in mid-Michigan, although it is on the chilly side.  I had trouble falling asleep last night.  It was close to 2:30 am the last time I saw the clock.  Nothing on the agenda for today except to mow the lawn.  Then, hopefully, we will be done with leaves and lawn for a while.

Happy Birthday, Jake @Crazy For Cats!

Welcome home @Lady Hudson and @marshhawk.  You have both been missed!

@RMLincoln The next few days will be very hectic for you.  I hope all goes well with the move.

@lazey1 I'm sorry to hear about the continuing health issues due to Covid and that you had to cancel your cruise.  Get well soon and I hope another cruise is in store for you!

@ger_77 have fun planning the cruise with your friends.

@StLouisCruisers Happy Birthday to your DS.

Bon Voyage to Roy!  @rafinmd

Today's meal is a great one for a cold winter's night.  Or even a chilly autumn evening.  It is warm and hearty and just what you want.  https://cafedelites.com/ham-potato-soup/hamandpotatosoup1.thumb.jpg.2bb81bdc89f5192f69bbb19c25db8802.jpg

I'm not a ham fan, but I can be enticed now and then.  I like the flavor, just not the texture of those grocery store hams that are injected with all kinds of chemicals.  It makes them kind of rubbery.  I really enjoyed the ham once at a friend's because it was way over done.  I liked the burnt pieces the best.  This next recipe caught my eye because there is bacon on it.  https://www.the-girl-who-ate-everything.com/ham-and-potato-soup/

Good morning everyone.  The frost is definitely on the pumpkin this morning, it was 33F when we went to mass.  Thanks for the daily updates.  I will definitely celebrate a french dip (my favorite is from the Stockyard) and happy hour. Pneumonia scares me, thankfully I have not experienced it.  Interesting quote.  The meal suggestion sounds delicious as does the drink.  Since we’re heading to the Willamette area this week we’ve been trying to expand our knowledge of pinot noirs so yes to the wine.  I have not been to today’s port.  Prayers for everyone on our prayer list today.  Happy ________ to those of you who are celebrating happy events, like boarding a BHB! 🍾

Good morning. Early to bed early to rise. A little cooler today as we are starting off at 58 degrees. Yesterday, we finally got a nice lengthy shower. You could almost hear the trees and surrounding fauna sipping like a straw. Good chance later this week for a significant amount of rain.

Yesterday my DW Sue came to me and said she wanted to book the Seabourn 2026 129 day World Cruise!😱 Good grief we haven’t even gone on next year’s 155 day Azamara World Cruise. She called our financial advisor and asked if we could afford this. He said yes as you’re behind in lowering the Ski Fund (Spending Kids Inheritance Fund)! So we are booked! Definitely will need some good trip insurance as I will turn eighty on that cruise. Starts in LA and ends in Vancouver. Called following the Ring Of Fire our itineraries sort of follow former or active volcanos
Speaking of French Dip that is what we had last night. We have been trying to use up food in deep freezer before our cruise. There was a frozen leftover prime rib and Susan nailed  last night French Dip meal. So good.

Church at eight and don’t believe anything else is planned for the day.

Have a great day. Thanks for the reports. Bruce

Thanks for our Sunday Daily, Rich

& thanks to Dixie, Debbie, Ann & Vanessa.

I love a good French Dip and it’s Happy Hour somewhere isn’t it?  😉. Pneumonia is a vicious killer - especially among the elderly.  Hopefully the vaccines help protect all.

I’m not sure about today’s quote - quite strange even for Mel Brooks.  The meal sounds good on this cold day though.  Havre St Pierre is a spot DD DH and I wanted to visit - sadly it was one place on his bucket list we weren’t able to fulfill.

It’s another brisk day with frost on the ground greeting Ivan this morning.  So far, this morning he hasn’t gone in the big garden so hopefully, I finally figured out how he is getting in.  If I am finally right, I should have been smarter and figured it out since he can’t get out.  LOL

IMG_1655.jpeg.47da65c0dbce796da99ad9abe02b2b21.jpeg

Started more purging yesterday and it will continue today.  Canadian Diabetes comes in a week so I hope to make their stop here really worth while.  🤞 Despite all I have given away there still seems to be a mountain of stuff. ‘Sigh’.

Prayers for those on the Care list, those suffering losses, health issues, pain, worries & those that need them.  🙏   Cheers to those celebrating and cruising 🥂.

Thank you Terry for the happy birthday wishes for DS.  Yes, he is one busy person.  This year he is doing the Dept. Chair duties so he'd like to take a year's sabbatical during the 2024-2025 school year.   As for pneumonia when I saw what today was I immediately thought of Tana and her difficult days suffering from it.  Thankful she is recovering.   I hope you both enjoy Happy Hour today!  🍸

Many thanks for DS's birthday wishes from the Frozen Tundra!  Fort Lauderdale hotel prices are ridiculous especially during the cold winter months.  Reminds me, I need to call the Plantation hotel I usually stay at and see why they say they are booked up for the date I want next fall.  They should have just opened reservations!

Good morning,

My day with DGD is off. She woke up with a fever. After the last bug they gave me where I coughed for 6 weeks I am steering clear. I know lots of gma’s babysit there sick DGK’s. I am not one of them. (Bad pediatrician!)

The wedding was nice and I got to visit with old workmates. I really miss seeing them. It is amazing how fast people move on when you don’t work together anymore.

I like the soup but no to the drinks. Having had pneumonia a few times more awareness is good.

Bon Voyage, Happy Birthday and welcome back.

Good Morning to All and thanks for the daily and fleet reports.  I am not a fan of French dips (don't like "wet" bread) nor a fan of potato soup so I will not even try them.  Pneumonia is such a killer and having a day of its own may raise awareness of what you can do to decrease the incidence.  My grandmother used to say "It is 5 o'clock somewhere" so happy hour was at all hours of the day (I am pretty sure now she was an alcoholic but.......).  Quote is pure Mel Brooks, I might have to try the drink and wine, and I have never been to Havre-Saint-Pierre.  Thank goodness the WWW was invented.  I couldn't have done my job well overseas without it!

Today is Diwali, the Festival of Lights.  Diwali comes from the Sanskrit word deepavali, meaning “row of lights.” It marks the triumph of light over darkness, of good over evil.  One can only hope!

Made French Onion Soup last night and, of course, there is lots left.  Some was put into the freezer and I will have some tonight.  Since I slept in this morning - which I rarely do - my day is a little off kilter.  It will probably warm up to close to 80F today with sunny skies.  I may go get a turkey to put in the freezer to use later as I won't be home for Thanksgiving, Christmas or New Years.  Instant Pot will come out to make some bread and hummus.  The house will smell great.

Thoughts for the world and those on the care list.  Cheers to those celebrating!!  Have a great day everyone!

Have you tried looking at hotels in the Dania Beach area? There is a newish shopping/ dining area called Dania Pointe that has several hotels nearby. February tends to be expensive for hotels in Ft Lauderdale as there are many events going on and it is also the start of "Spring Break"

Hope you can find something that fits your needs.

@ger_77 we’ve stayed at the Comfort Suite near the airport a few times, pre shutdown, and prices and service were good.  Typically we stay closer to the port since drugstores and places to dine are within walking distance.  In our travels since the reopening hotel prices have skyrocketed.  For December we are at the Four Points and the hotel is ok, price is more than we like but does have free shuttle from the airport.

Gerry, several CC friends of mine have stayed at Riverside Hotel (in Las Olas region) and were very pleased.   A couple just stayed there a short while ago and raved.   I’m not sure what the pricing would be like for when you are going but it was reasonable for me.  If you opt to stay there, they recommend the new Tower.

Ivan could use a King size bed to make room for his stuffed toys.  😄

LOL - he has the biggest bed there is.  He only had some of his toys with him 😂 He likes to cuddle.  Once I was on the couch he found someone better to cuddle for a while 😉

Hope you bought some future cruise deposits while on board recently! 😉 What a great itinerary. Enjoy and good luck with the insurance.......🤞

Good morning all!

I haven't had French Dip in years and years, DH and I are both up to date on our Pneumonia shots -- such a terrible disease. Looking forward to any Happy Hours on a BHB!  That was a weird quote, thank you Lenda @Quartzsite Cruiser for explaining the background.  I agree, it's still not the best choice.  I'll pass on the red wine, but would try the drink and maybe to the meal.  Like Debbie I'm not overly fond of ham, but a little bit is ok.  Have not been to the port.

Yesterday was very nice, it was fun to see DDIL's artwork displayed (front and center!) at the gallery.  The manager was raving about her work, I was a proud MIL.  When I told DDIL, she blushed and said she doesn't "get it", but was pleased. 🙂  We had an excellent dinner with DS and DDIL (she's also a great cook) and had a really good time catching up with each other and playing with their pups.

Today I have to cook (!) After DD and then DDIL making dinner for us two nights in a row, I got spoiled 😉  No other plans other than checking my lists as to what we need to get before we start packing some of the bags that will be sent ahead.

Bon Voyage Roy @rafinmd!

Happy Birthday Jake @Crazy For Cats and to your son Sandi @StLouisCruisers!

Welcome Home Annie @marshhawk and Katherine @Lady Hudson!

Congratulations to your niece for passing her bar exam Joy @Seasick Sailor!
