ger_77 Posted August 13 #52 Share Posted August 13 Good morning, thanks for the Fleet Report and Daily! My brother is a left-hander, appreciate filet mignon on a BHB, and do enjoy prosecco - especially when it's in an Aperol Spritz. Interesting quote today. A nice morning out there for us with a current temp of 18(64) with an expected high of 29(84) again. We really enjoy these days before the weather changes, and try to spend as much time out on our deck as possible. Mornings are so peaceful as we're having coffee/tea and watching the birds in the fountain and the water bubblers, listening to the city wake up around us. Ah, the perks of being retired! @summer slopegood luck with your cataract surgery today. @StLouisCruiserswishing your DH a very Happy Birthday! @Copper10-8Happy Anniversary to you and Maria today! @kazuoh my goodness on the fall; hopefully the decreased medication will take care of the dizziness. I'm sure 1 of the 4 viewings will fall in love with your home, just as you did. @Heartgroveprayers for your DSIL that the swelling subsides quickly and she can have surgery to set her ankle. Not much on our agenda today, but a fellow is coming over this afternoon to take a look at all the amateur radio equipment our friend Gord had. We contacted someone from the radio club here in the city and he sounded quite enthusiastic about it, as they have young people(students) who are interested in getting involved in radio but don't have the resources to start up. If this equipment will be of any benefit to them, we'll be happy, and we know Gord would love knowing it's going to someone who will really use it. I'm going to pass on the drink because I've never seen Dragon Berry rum, and it sounds like an essential part of the drink! Will pass on the white wine and as for the meal, maybe it would be a good side dish, but I know DH would pass on it. Our friend Ollie called yesterday to say not to cook dinner tonight, as she's bringing something over for us. I'm not sure what we'll be having, but we'll be able to enjoy her friendship, and good food and laughter at the table on the deck this evening. And wine. Prayers for everyone who is in need, in pain, in grief, in turmoil, in the midst of wars, and destructive storms and fires. Cheers to all with celebrations. Smooth Sailing! ☺️☺️☺️ Gerry 25

Seasick Sailor Posted August 13 #54 Share Posted August 13 Our water softener guy came out last week and did a checkup. He said all was great. Well, the system has not stopped running. So I called yesterday as they were opening and someone told me how to shutdown the system. Now I'm waiting for the typical 12 to 4 time frame visit. Jeez @Heartgrove oh no on your DSIL injury! I found out on my walk with Ollie that our neighbor ran over their cat backing out of the garage. She was rushed to the vet but did not survive. 10
durangoscots Posted August 13 #55 Share Posted August 13 Good morning. Sunny and dry right now although there may be thunderstorms in the pm. Current temperature is 60F (it is 8:45) and the high today will be in the high 70's. OK... sounds good. I notice the sun is slower to rise in the morning .... and so are my dogs. I had to haul them out of bed this morning. Jacqui... try to take it easy. I am sure your house looks good. I hope you can get it sold quickly. I am sorry to hear about the dizziness. Hopefully it can be dealt with by reducing meds.... and getting rid of some of your stress which will come. Let Ivan keep you calm. Little here. I worked with my TA on my cruise schedule. I am now on the Alaska 28 day June of next year although I am not completely happy with my cabin. He will try to adjust. It is my own fault... I was late booking. I don't have to make a decision before February. And I think I am going to cancel the Mediterranean round trip from New York in October 2025.. Just too long and probably too strenuous. Decisions, decisions. i have been to many of the ports.... but it was 40 plus years ago!!!! Where is that crystal ball when you need it! Take it easy everyone. Remember to use the bubble wrap. I have a doctor's appointment coming up in another week and I am going to talk to him about some PT for balance. Susan 22

Susan Susan, I hope you will keep the 28 day Alaska cruise booked, and hopefully get a better cabin. There are three of us Dailyites already on the cruise, including @Cruising-along Carolyn and Henry and @NextOne Edi. Looking forward to meeting you then, if not sooner. Cruising-along Posted August 13 #59 Share Posted August 13 Good morning all! A much cooler day today, only up to 65 (!) but that's ok, perfect gardening weather. This is my day. I'm left-handed and have lived in/lived near Seattle most of my life (native Washingtonian). I like Filet Mignon but don't have it often, and can take or leave Prosecco. I'll pass on the meal today but Debbie @dfish last night we had the healthy Shrimp Scampi and it was great (I did use regular noodles though) 😉 I'd love to try the drink, and would like the wine since it's medium-dry. We've been to Seattle countless times, of course. I have lived there and DD lived there while going to UW. We've done the tourist thing when friends and relatives visit. DH works part-time for the Mariners, so he gets to Seattle a LOT. Today IF I can squeeze any more into the yard waste bin and IF it can still be wheeled to the curb for pick-up tomorrow, I'll do more work in the back yard. It's getting closer to being done! I'm trying to fix 30 years in a week LOL. Dixie @summer slope Thinking of you today as you have your cataract surgery. So far I haven't needed it, but we'll see what the eye doctor says on my next visit. Sandi @StLouisCruisers Happy 76th birthday to Dennis! Happy Anniversary John and Maria @Copper10-8! Nancy @ottahand7 I bet it was Snoqualmie Falls that you visited on your Seattle visit. Jacqui @kazu I'm so sorry you're dealing with dizziness now. I hope decreasing the med will fix it. Paul @kochleffel So sorry about the fever -- hoping you feel better soon! Jack @Heartgrove I'm sorry your DSIL broke her ankle 😞 Susan @durangoscots -- fingers crossed you do join us on the 28-day Alaska next year! As Lenda @Quartzsite Cruiser said, there are several Dailyites on that cruise -- and a few from the Grand Australia/NZ too. It would be great to see you again! Seattle is "my home port" and since we live so near to Seattle, we've been there countless times. Thank you to all who have posted such beautiful photos of the city! Most tourists only see Mt. Rainier from afar or from a plane, so I'll share some taken in Mt. Rainier park. We've gone there many times, but I think my favorite time is in the winter for birthday getaways. Also some from Zoo Lights at Woodland Park Zoo last winter. Zoo Lights Mt. Rainier birthday getaway Our DSIL even hiked to the top of Mt. Rainier in 2012! Here he is at the top. Sunrise Lodge and Visitors' Center And a sunrise in Seattle photo with a ghostly Mt. Rainier in the background. 22

Rare puppycanducruise Posted August 13 #62 Share Posted August 13 @ger_77That's wonderful that someone from the local ham radio club is going to help you with Gord's equipment. My husband has helped several widows dispose of their late husband's radio equipment. Some has been given to young hams, and some to older folks who want to try the hobby but can't afford the equipment.

Rare kazu Posted August 13 #64 Share Posted August 13 Did I say I had 4 showings today? I lied. It was true when I posted but it’s now 7 for today. Ugh. Hopefully that will mean the bidding war my realtor is hoping for happens. I’ll find out next Monday. Thankfully there are tiny breaks between a couple of them so Ivan and I go back in the house for a break and then back out. So far, he’s being quite good about it but he didn’t seem keen to stay out this time. LOL. 3 hours ago, Heartgrove said: Late Sunday afternoon while out for a walk in our neighborhood she fell and broke her ankle. It is a trimalleolar fracture so somewhat serious in the long term at 75. The swelling needs to stop before they can do surgery. She was admitted to the hospital as it would be difficult immediately to prep the house but may be moving to a rehab facility short term providing there is sufficient insurance coverage, She will see the Orthopedic surgeon on Friday so we will know more then. Oh dear, Jack! How awful! I hope the Orthopaedic surgeon can hepher and surgery can fix her break 🙏 @dfish best wishes for your bone density test today

dfish Posted August 13 #66 Share Posted August 13 @summer slope I hope the cataract surgery goes well and that you are home relaxing by now. @Heartgrove I am so sorry to hear of your DSIL's ankle fracture. I hope the surgery goes well for her and that recovery is swift. @kazu Thanks for the well wishes. People are reporting on long wait times to get results, so I am not counting on anything till January. No, it isn't that bad, but it seems like it sometimes! I hope today is productive as far as the showings go. With that many showings, I bet the house moves quickly. It was about this time of year two years ago that I was going through the same thing. I took to sitting in the neighbor's back yard a few times. There are only so many errands you can run. I hope the dizziness subsides as you sure don't need that to deal with as well. @Seasick Sailor Joy, no more issues! The plumbing was enough, really! I'm sorry about your neighbor's cat. She must be heartbroken. 22
Rare kazu Posted August 13 #67 Share Posted August 13 Multi quote wasn’t co-operating with me today. Maybe it’s the heat? Dixie @summer slope best wishes for your cataract surgery today and a very successful outcome 🤞 @Quartzsite Cruiser stress can contribute to dizziness? Whatever stress could I be under LOL 😆 😉 Annie @marshhawk I’m glad you two got a break on Sunday. It was well deserved. Hope chuck’s swelling dissipates soon so he can get his infusion 🙏 18
marshhawk Posted August 13 #68 Share Posted August 13 Penny called after I posted this morning, a large dead tree from the woods on the other side of her fence fell Sunday night, and took out her fence, and the pool. Some of it is floating in the pool, but she is pretty sure that the lining will begin leaking soon as branches are in the pool.. They dont know if they went to the bottom. They relined the pool two years ago. Guess that was my swim for the year. @Seasick Sailor I am so sad to read of your neighbor running over her cat. She will probably feel a lot of guilt for a while. Cats are so trusting, they never to think of moving out of the way. We have that problem with one of the strays., DH has to get out of the car and move Butter out of the driveway about 3 times a week. Thank you @Sea Viewer. It was a fun show to watch. Nice rom com. with murder and scenery. 22
Rare Haljo1935 Posted August 13 #69 Share Posted August 13 I took my swollen foot to brunch in between work calls. I thought the menu was nice. Brunch is today only; with an afternoon port arrival, I think they're kinda treating today like a sea day. Brunch hours were 8:30 - 1:30, so plenty of time for everyone to enjoy. It was busy. How much ketchup does 1 person need? For perspective, that's a large gravy boat. 4 people couldn't use that much ketchup, unless maybe a couple were kids who put ketchup on everything 🙄 The cappuccino was great! We were just docking as I was heading to my cabin (arrived a tad early). This is from the bar where I got water. And these are from my balcony. I should have a great view for the lighthouse show tonight. The internet has been working just fine; only a few short-lived hiccups, which I think is pretty wonderful considering we're on a ship moving through the ocean. No issues working and hosting Teams calls. I got the 1 device streaming plan, so I cannot switch between devices like we can on HAL. One snafu - I have a report to do tomorrow that involves a pretty intensive spreadsheet that I need to do on my computer; I activated my phone. Oops.. Today is more work from the balcony then if my swollen foot decides to unwell, I may go over to the island and walk around. I didn't plan on being over there for the lighthouse light show, I plan on watching it from my balcony, but who knows... Have a few nice pictures of the Sound from last May on Eurodam I will post separately. Prayers 🙏and positive thoughts for all. 22
Rare Haljo1935 Posted August 13 #70 Share Posted August 13 We've been to Seattle a few times, all for AK cruises. The only pictures I have are from last April/May on Eurodam. We don't "do" the city, so no attraction sites to post. Maybe in Oct as we're spending the day sightseeing before a 7pm return flight.🤷♀️ From our deck waiting to leave port April 29 '23. The weather was perfect! @Denise T we were on Eurodam - this will be your home in soon. I hope your weather is equally lovely. Regardless, I know you'll have a great cruise. 21
Sharon in AZ Posted August 13 #71 Share Posted August 13 Good morning and Happy Tuesday! This is what I posted on May 22, 2021 (thank you Sandi!). I have since been to Seattle several more times, September 2021 on the Nieuw Amsterdam and May 2023 on the Volendam. I’ll see if I have any different pictures from those cruises to post later. *************************** We have been to Seattle on two cruises, first was August 2012 and second was June 2019, both on the Oosterdam. I have the 2019 pictures handy so will post those first. We really enjoy walking around the Pike Place Market area so that is where these are from. This alleyway has the gum stuck to the walls for lovers to put up love notes similar to the one in Verona, Italy at Juliette’s house. You won’t get me on this! One of many sculptures inside. At the far right is a bear sculpture. One of the alleys at night. A quieter Pike Place. 21

I’m so sorry to hear you fell, You rock! I hope I’m not starting something, but looks like I cracked a tooth that has already had a root canal, sigh! It goes to Space Needle (includes your ticket too), around downtown with a long stop near Pike Place, and other area attractions. You eventually end up at the airport. Our guide was wonderful too. 18
