jimgev Posted March 25, 2022 #52 Share Posted March 25, 2022 Interesting quote today. I have to say that there are many books that I have read multiple times. Often, when they make a movie of I book I have read, after seeing the movie the first thing I want to do is read the book again. (Books are always better than the movies). Jacqui, I am so sorry to hear about Morley. With all you are dealing with regarding Jose, this is not what you need. Yesterday, I related that we were expecting a rainy afternoon. Unfortunately, it never happened. We didn't get a drop. This has been the case over and over for the last five months. We really need rain but there is none in sight. Stay safe everyone. 21

JazzyV Posted March 25, 2022 #56 Share Posted March 25, 2022 (edited) Good afternoon. Thanks for the Daily. I like pecans and waffles! Maybe breakfast for dinner tonight. Interesting quote; I do have a few books that I reread, Jane Austen, Tolkein, George R.R. Martin. A yes to fish fry; that's the only fish I usually eat (either fish & chips or a Lent fish sandwich). The drink looks interesting. I'll pass on the sherry. I haven't been to today's destination. Thanks for the pictures @Suslor. A busy morning for me. I woke up extra early, I think worried about getting my car out due to work on the alley. First was the dentist. He used another glue on my crown, but also did a 3D model of half my mouth for a possible new crown (I guess no more biting into that yucky modeling compound). Then I came home for an hour, then went to the Ophthalmologist. I talked about all my issues. Although she saw no active inflammation in the anterior part of the eye, she wants me to see a retina specialist to rule out inflammation of the middle part of the eye (pars planitis), which requires special equipment to see. Snow here tomorrow! @rafinmd Suva in 1918? 🤨Thank you for your dedication to the lists. @smitty34877 Wow, 6 blocks away is far! Once street sweeping resumes here, there will be alternate day parking, but I don't think it's bad as most have garages. @Cruzin Terri I was pleased to read of your good news about weaning off your Prednisone, and negative Covid tests for both of you. Good that DH's basal cell lesion will be taken care of when you return from your trip. @Rowsby Continued prayers for your DH and you. @erewhon Condolences on the loss of your beloved cat Polly. @kazu I'm so sorry to hear about Marley's cancer having advanced so much. Prayers for Jose, you and Marley. @mamaofami Oh no on the reaction to the cream. I hope your stress decreases a lot with the new aide. @ger_77 Good to hear that DH doesn't need a pacemaker; and hopefully the nitro patch takes care of the angina. Prayers for the Care List, Ukraine and its people and helpers. Cheers for the Celebration List. Stay safe everyone. Overhead Fred Posted March 25, 2022 #57 Share Posted March 25, 2022 I had a pecan caramel roll for breakfast and fish and chips for lunch today in the Lido! We had our in-transit covid tests this morning. I had a minor heart attack when the phone rang a few minutes after we got back to the room. It was Tony (sailingdutchy) calling to tell us that he tested positive (Martha was negative) and was heading to quarantine! They don't know yet if they will be able to stay onboard for the second leg or if they will need to get off on Sunday. Mitzi and I never got a call about our tests. 16

Truly hoping he is not ill 🙏🏻 @rafinmdIt was very sweet of you to include Marley on the Care list - sadly, you can now take him off as I had to send him over the Rainbow Bridge this afternoon. Hopefully there truly is a heaven for dogs (they deserve it) and he and Miko are playing together one more time pain free. 💔 9

Rare rafinmd Posted March 25, 2022 #61 Share Posted March 25, 2022 I think this will go down as a good day. While I have a lot on my plate there are a couple of things that pleased me. I'll start with a bit of history. I was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer in 1997 and had the organ removed that year. My PSA should be 0 and was for a few years but eventually started edging up. I've been on horomone therapy for many years and it was enough for many years but things changed a year or so ago. These are some readings: 4/21/21----0.93 7/21/21---1.07 10/20/21--1.56 My oncolgist had some concerns when the level got above 1.0 and ordered additional testing. A spot was found and I was referred to radiation which began in early November. My next PSA check was for my physical on December 10. The way it was accelerating I assume it would likely have been about 2, but with one month radiation and it was 1.40 Radiation ended in late December and my next check was when I saw my regular oncoligist: 1/19/22---0.86 The Radiation Oncologist wanted to see me at the 3-month mark which is March 31 with a PSA test a week earlier. This morning I was in the grocery store when my cell phone rang. It was radiation oncology, and they already had my PSA results, 0.36 yesterday. The Radiation Oncologist was so pleased he cancelled my March 31 visit and pushed my next visit back to October 28. While I would like it even lower I'll take this. I've also booked another cruise to use the last of my future cruise credits, I don't have all the details yet but I'm now booked on Queen Mary 2 New England and Canada for July 1 to 8. July 4 will be a late night in Boston with a great view of the fireworks over the Charles River. Roy 38

Hope he feels well and this won't inconvenience the entire remainder of their cruise.
Rare Vict0riann Posted March 25, 2022 #64 Share Posted March 25, 2022 (edited) So sorry, Jacqui, but now Marley is out of pain in doggie heaven and , yes, definitely racing around with Miko! Tony (sailingdutchy) emailed me this morning, too, to say he tested positive, and they will be disembarking when the ship arrives in Fort Lauderdale and going to the quarantine hotel. He has another cruise booked for mid-April, so hope all is well by then! As someone said on our roll call, we studied all night, but we still failed the test this morning! Both negative, so we will be flying out tomorrow for San Diego. I'm excited, a little nervous after Tony's experience, and we will definitely wear our masks every moment we can! I'm taking a few home test kits and we'll definitely test before we visit the cousins in SF. Thanks for the Daily News, fleet report, recipes and drinks and photos. PS Tony did say he's feeling fine. srdancer Posted March 25, 2022 #68 Share Posted March 25, 2022 @kazuso sad to hear about Marley. You and Jose are in my heart and prayers. @sailingdutchyso sorry about the positive Covid test and missing your 2nd cruise. I wish you a quick recovery. We had our 2nd booster about an hour ago. Moderna after 3 Pfizer shots. No reaction so far but it usually takes 6-8 hours before side effects kick in, at least for me. 21
Quartzsite Cruiser Posted March 25, 2022 #69 Share Posted March 25, 2022 (edited) Good afternoon from a very foggy Pacific Ocean somewhere off the California coast. Currently, the ship's tracking is not working. We went to the Mariners Reception this morning which had less than 30 people in attendance including only one member of the President's Club. We were joined by the ship's horn because of the fog. Made the event more interesting. Another interesting collection of days. Growing up as an Episcopalian, we did not celebrate the Feast of the Assumption in our parish. DH likes pecans better than I do, especially in a pecan pie. We both like waffles, but I haven't made them in a few months. When I do make them, I use all the batter; then, we reheat the leftover waffles for breakfast until they are gone. We usually have them with strawberries and whilpped cream. @grapau27 Thank you, Graham, for the explanation on waffle day. I am another who disagrees with Oscar Wilde's quote. I rarely reread a book, and then, it's usually by accident as I've forgotten I've read it. There are too many books waiting to be read to spend time rereading one. I finally started keeping lists of what I've read, what books I have, and the books I really want to read. That makes things easier when buy books. Fish and chips are a favorite, and we get them on ships and when we are in England. I also make them, especially now that I habe an air fryer and don't have to mess will all that oil. We'll pass on the drink and the wine. We have not been to Suva but would like to see ore of Fiji. We have our covid test tomorrow although we'd hoped they would be today. Tomorrow is a port day, so the tests will be vey early, 7 to 8:30 am. We do not do early mornings especially on a BHB. We have our fingers 🤞 we test negative. @Overhead Fred Good to know that you, Mitzi, and Mrs. @sailingdutchy Martha tested negative. We're sorry that Tony @sailingdutchy is positive, and we hope he has a mild case and is over it quickly. @kazu Jacqui, I'm so sorry you had to make the extremely difficult decision to send Marley over the Rainvoe Bridge to join Miko. I sure he is sending you the same message Miko send you. A big hug to you. @mamaofami Carol, I hope Sam's recovery from his finger surgery is going smoothly. That is good news that Monday, the old aide will be history and the new aide will be coming. It is good that the supervisor will be there to see the aide leaves without problems or drama. Hope the dermatologist can help with the itching. @ger-cruiser Gerry, that is good news that your DH does not need a pacemaker, and I hope the patch helps with the angina. As for as the doctor's reminder about his age, my father's doctor would have called it "process aging", and much better than the alternative. @Suslor Thank you for the pictures of Suva. @rafinmd Roy, that is indeed good news. Glad you have another cruise booked. I would love to be in Boston some July 4 to see the Boston Pops and the fireworks. @Vict0riann, @live4cruisin and @AV8rix When we were in the Crow’s Nest this morning, I looked around, and DH and I felt the port side near the bar is the best place to meet. It should give us an area where we can all gather comfortably. BTW, Sunday afternoon, I'll be wearing a pink and white shirt at that reception. Safe travels to everyone. That is a difficult decision to have to make, but you did it with love for Marley. Too often we keep our pets around too long for our sake, not theirs. I'm sure Marley thanks you for having his interests at heart. Rest assured that he knew he was a loved member of the family. 28 minutes ago, rafinmd said: I think this will go down as a good day.
