Bolt Creek Fire Update: Highway 2 remains closed west of Skykomish to Gold Bar. About 350 PSE customers continue to be without power since Saturday. The Incident Management Team was upgraded to Type 2 IMT yesterday morning. That team has quicker access to resources and is able to cut through red tape when something is needed.

Evacuation Level for Index, WA, was downgraded from level 3 to level 2. With that adjustment and many in the fire area having electricity restored, hope that this fire is headed toward real containment is becoming a reality.

I visited Sihanoukville on the Zaandam February 10, 2012.  I'll start with a photo of the port itself which we shared with the much smaller Seabourn Pride:

pridevszaandam.jpg

I had a ship's tour with several stops.  The first was the Buddhist Intra Ngean Pagoda

ngean.jpg

We then stopped at Ochheuteal, a beautiful but very crowded beach.  My notes indicated it was very commercialized.

svillemkt.jpg

I found the smell in the market overwhelming and when we got to free time walked around downtown a bit, passing a primary school at dismissal time:

Our final stop was a fishing base where we walked among the boats, which do their actual fishing overnight.

Finally, a message from the monks at Intra Ngean Pagoda;

Good Morning All,

Lots of errands on the agenda today and tomorrow.

@smitty34877 Praying for you and your family. I can only imagine the stress.

Today’s Wine.

*************

Caliterra Sauvignon Blanc Reserva, Chile

And we have another Sauvignon Blanc.

TASTING NOTES:

Pale greenish-yellow in color and very bright. Of beautiful aromatic intensity, its great freshness and aromas of tropical fruits such as mango and passion fruit stand out with a slightly herbal background. The nose is complex and citric and mineral notes also appear, accompanied by notes of green chili and tomato leaves aromatically complexing this rich bouquet. In the mouth, can be appreciate a nice acidity and a citrus sensation that make it a very culinary wine.

Have a great day everyone!

Good morning from a sunny central Texas.  It was about 65F when I went out this morning about 8:30, but it will be in the low 90sF later.

Crab fests are not a part of the Texas dining experience.  Instead, we'll have crab cakes tonight along with what every I find to go with them.  I like cream filled donuts, but if they are available, we get hot Krispy Kreme donuts.  Quiet day sounds nice.

I like the quote.  We'll pass on the meal, drink and wine today.

We were in Sihanoukville in 2002 on the 64 day APEC on Volendam.

@dfish  Debbie, having so many showings even if it means being away from the house for so long is a good sign.  We've sold seven houses, and many times we did not have many lookers, but the right one did see the houses and bought them.  When DH worked for du Pont, the company bought three of the houses since they wanted us to move quickly.  The other four sold and some even more quickly than we expected.  So hang in there and the buyer will find your house.

@kazu  Jacqui, I hope the roads aren't too bad when you are on them today.

@smitty34877  Terry, thank you for the update.  I'm sorry the nights have been bad, but I think extra help will be a relief for all.  Everyone needs to be rested to face the days ahead.  Sending positive thoughts that things will improve again quickly.

On October 23, 2002, the Volendam visited Sihanoukville as part of the Asia Pacific Explorer Cruise (APEC).  That day we took a long tour to the capitol, Phnom Penh.  It is about an 4 1/2 hour drive between the two cities.

Our arrival in Sihanoukville with the sun rising and peeking out of an heavy cloud cover.  The buses were lined up on the dock as we approached the dock.

After that long drive, our first stop was a very nice hotel for lunch.  The pool area and a shrine in the gardens of the hotel

The next stop was the Royal Palace of Cambodia.  We noticed two billboards on the drive to the palace that were advertising two upcoming international events, which referred to Cambodia as the Kingdom of Cambodia.

@dfish Debbie when we decided in May of 2020 to sell our house in Coeur d' Alene, we put the house on the market, flew down to Texas. Bought this house the next day and started furniture shopping. The following day we had an offer on our house. Flew back home put everything up for sale: car, jeep, all the furniture except a few pieces. The new owners needed us out by June 6th, so we flew to Georgetown and lived at the Sheraton til this house closed on June 18th. I can't believe we did it so fast.

Wow!  I knew things could move quickly.

As @Quartzsite Cruiser said, it only takes one.  I'm happy to report that there is one offer in on the house and more showings today.   My realtor is letting all the other agents know that we will be meeting at noon tomorrow to review the offers.  So, it will be sold.  The current offer is enough to get us that house in Midland.

@smitty34877  Keeping  you in my thoughts.  I hope the extra help is just that and you can get the rest you need.

Since this is crab day, I bet that would go nicely in today's meal.

Like you said Lenda about selling homes in the past, it just takes the right person to come through.  We have also had two of our homes purchased by the company DH worked for, to get us out quickly and moved to the new position.

But we've had other homes that either took several months to sell (economic conditions caused that) or sold within 1 or 2 days.  One home went on the market on a Tuesday morning at 10:30 am and the realtors started their "tours" of that week's new listings.  I remember doing that new listing tour on Tuesdays when I was a realtor in California.  Anyway, I left the home to go shopping at 10:30 am when car loads of realtors arrived to view it.  I was sitting in Panera (St. Louis Bread Company!) waiting for my lunch 90 minutes later and got a call that they had an offer!  One realtor brought their clients along on the tour because she knew they would want my house, and they wrote up an offer before 12 noon giving us until 3 pm to accept it or not.  They saw a sign up sheet with a dozen realtors making appointments to see the house and that's why they gave us 3 hours to think about it.  If they hadn't given us $15,000 over asking price we might have countered on time to allow others to see it, but it was a good deal.  Besides our next home was already under construction.  That's the fastest we ever got an offer though.   DH had to leave work early that day to come home and review and sign the offer.  If I had any champagne in my house we would have opened a bottle to celebrate, but I didn't.  Darn it!🥂  Do you have your champagne ready Debbie?  Or would you rather have a congratulatory glass of red?🍷

Good morning. Thanks for the Fleet Report/Daily.

I only eat crab as crab cakes and don't like cream-filled donuts. I like quiet at times.

I like the quote. Yes to the drink. No to the meal and wine.

I've never been to Sihanoukville.

Brr. Another chilly start to the day, but up to a nice 78F later. I turned off the ceiling fan in the bedroom before going to sleep last night. I'm off to a doctor's appointment soon, then to the eye doctor's office about my glasses. It was also the day for my biweekly injection; my hands start to hurt again about 2 days before it's due.

@dfish Great news about your house! Hoping you hear good news about the Michigan house. It took me about a year to sell my first house (shared driveway, high taxes). I fell in love with this house and after 60 days had to make a decision. So I had 2 mortgages for 10 months. No fun!

@kazu Safe trip to your therapy session.

@RedneckBob 😃

@smitty34877 Prayers for you all during this trying time.

@HAL4NOW Good news that people are getting power back and the fire starting to be contained.

@rafinmd @Quartzsite Cruiser Thanks for the photos.

Prayers for the Care List. Cheers for the Celebration List.

Stay safe everyone.

@JazzyV,  Vanessa,  I used to start to feel the return of the awful hand pain  two days ahead of the injection also.I hope you are having less or a reaction  to it now because it truly helps.

Also, thank you for your prayers and your ongoing kindness. It is appreciated.

@dfish,how wonderful to get an offer right away.Thank you as well for your positive  thoughts for the family.

And thank you to @TiogaCruiser and @Quartzsite Cruiser for thinking of us.

We need to regroup a little here as tempers are fraying!

Good morning all!

I just read Debbie's @dfishnews!  That's wonderful Debbie!!

I love crab, and will choose it over lobster every time.  And IF I eat a donut, it's always one filled with cream or jelly.  Preferably topped with chocolate. 😉  I like quiet days, the quote, meal, drink and wine.  Chile SBs are my second choice after NZ SBs.

Like Bruce @aliaschiefDH and I have dental cleanings this morning, so will hurry off.

Terry @smitty34877my thoughts are with you and prayers you get that extra help.

@HAL4NOWI really appreciate your fire and road closure updates, thank you.  We're hoping we can take Highway 2 to Leavenworth this weekend, but prepared to take 90 if need be.

Sihanoukville on the Maasdam in 2019. Terrific cruise, iffy port -- hundreds of Chinese casinos, hotels, resorts going up all at once. Streets torn up, dust everywhere.

But we hooked up with a local tour operator and had a nice time.

@dfishYou just need the right people to see your house.  Several years ago, we moved when DH got a new job.  We listed our house and waited.  After what seemed like forever, we got an offer on August 3, we closed on August 16.  The movers had to hustle to get us out in time, but we did it!

Just a quick check in, another busy day here. Yesterday I canned some hot pickled banana peppers. Today I need to prep the meal for our Wednesday gatherings and make a gluten free chocolate cake. One of our group is celebrating her 65th birthday today. Menu is maple glazed salmon, roasted Brussels sprouts and Caesar salad. Tomorrow I will be canning salsa. The garden has produced so many tomatoes that even giving many of them away we can’t keep up.

prayers for those that need them and will hoist a drink in celebration later. Sadly, I think our Wednesday gatherings will soon stop around the pool (next door) and move inside as the evenings are getting quite cool and it costs a lot to heat the pool for one day a week. I see a pool closing in the near future. We have had a good run since early May, never rained out on a Wednesday.

have a good day all.

Wishing  your   group member Happy Birthday and  many more.

Great news Debbie!  Now lets hope some higher ones come in!

Thanks you for the Daily Reports.  We are heading to Baltimore at the end of the month and I will probably have crab every lunch and dinner because I miss is so much.  Costco had gotten some Chicken of the Sea pasteurized around the holidays and I was surprised how good it was, I hope they carry this again.   Creme filled were a special treat for me on the N Statendam.   I usually never eat sweets but they were so beautiful sitting in the case in CO I had them a couple times.  The pastry and bread on the NS were excellent.   All comestibles look great!   Thank you for the photos of Cambodia.

Prayers for all on our care list and for continued success for the Ukrainian war effort!    Have a wonderful day!!!

The next stop was the Royal Palace of Cambodia.  We noticed two billboards on the drive to the palace that were advertising two upcoming international events, which referred to Cambodia as the Kingdom of Cambodia.

The grounds were well kept and lovely, but up close some of the buildings showed wear and tear.  This picture is an example of what time and weather can do.

These final pictures were taken from the bus as we started our return journey to Sihanoukville.

We saw shrines along the drive though Phnom Penh, and these are just two of them.

Fantastic news Debbie.
