Hello everyone. Yes, it's Monday. Thank you for the Daily and Fleet reports.

It is another hot one today here. I love making meals in sheet pans. They are so easy to use.

Thank you all for the well wishes. I have successfully defended my dissertation proposal! The nerves were real, and I was able to get through it. Thank goodness it was virtual. My proposal has been approved and now I am waiting for approval from the Institutional Review Board so I can begin data collection. An amusing moment was when the doorbell rand and Fancy started barking. I just ignored that and forged ahead. This is a huge relief and just one more step closer to finishing.

Thinking of all on the care list especially those in the path of Hurricane Hillary and those still recovering in Maui.

Celebrating with all who are celebrating.

Everyone, have a safe and healthy day.

I remember defending my proposal many years ago.... I think it was actually harder than the actual defense of the final product. Congratulations, you are well on your way.

Hurricane Hillary hits Diamond Bar.

This morning when I opened the garage door to head over to the bagel shop, I discovered that the Bougainvillea that was growing on the slope between our driveway and the neighbor's yard had been uprooted.

Mrs. XBGuy will be disappointed,

On the other hand I imagine my neighbors will be pleased that fewer dead Bougainvillea flowers will be blowing into their yards.

I haven’t been ashore yet today in Halifax. I really should just take a short walk and soon, before rain moves in. Apparently there have been some light sprinkles but nothing heavy so far.

My sympathy Bruce (and Sue) @aliaschief on the passing of your DBIL. Hoping Sue has a nice visit with her twin.

Sending good thoughts today to Tana and Lou.  Hope things begin looking up for both of them.

Lenda @Quartzsite Cruiser you are correct, I won’t have time to post on Wednesday. I see those old photos for that port aren’t showing up on Rich’s old posts anymore. Since I won’t be home I won’t be able to insert photos again. But that’s okay, that port has been shown several times before. We arrive home Wednesday afternoon so I should have no problem jumping back into our usual routine Thursday morning.

I saw this photo popping up on all Ren’s former teammate’s Instagram accounts and realized it was of Ren taken while in Mexico City. He seems intent on avoiding a foul!  Today’s game hasn’t begun yet. It’s against the #1 team at the “tournament” so not setting my expectations too high!

Ms Crystal,  I was driving that tractor. I turned my head around and yelled at the driver of the blue car, “Go Ahead, Make My Day”!

What!  You’ve been driving in the back roads of the prairies.  We actually saw that scenario last year and you know who won and who lost.

my condolences @aliaschief,   Never easy, even when expected,

congratulations @Denise T  Brings back memories of my orals for my masters,  three professors examining  me, and I had spent the night before at the children’s hospital with my daughter for chicken pox.  Both my children had chicken pox in the two week period of my comprehensive exams.

Thanks to those who have checked in from California, stay safe everyone!

Just a heads up to check your airline points balance,   We just discovered DHs account has been hacked and hundreds of thousands of airline points have been fraudulently redeemed for e gift cards.   Sigh.   Hoping it doesn’t take too long to resolve,

Good afternoon from a hazy or cloudy hot central Texas. It has been a busy afternoon, but now with what I had planned to do today.  Maybe I can get those things done tomorrow after I mow the yard.

Good morning.  I'm glad to see that other Dailyites fared well with Storm Hilary.  We did, too.  Just a lot of rain for us.  I've been in close touch with our nephew in Rancho Mirage.  He is still sheltering in place, as the desert communities had a lot of flooding -- roads in and out are closed.  Flash floods are a known problem in those communities, so hopefully they will get things taken care of quickly.

Prayers that the rain goes where it is needed.

The destination of the day, Catalina, is also in the news, having been evacuated.  It's a great port stop.  We used to go there as kids and when I returned via cruise ship, I was very impressed by how lovely it is now, with nice walkways and park areas and inviting restaurants.  It's a unique place.

Wishing everyone a good Monday -- and pleasant week ahead.  ❤️

Maxine, I'm glad you are safe, and that your nephew is also safe in his home.

Good morning. Thanks for the Fleet Report/Daily.

Although I love ice cream, I don't like spumoni (although I tried it when I was a kid, so maybe I should try it again). I guess I fall into Senior Citizen's day. I'll salute poets, although I'm not a big poetry fan. True quote. I like the meal, pass on the drink and yes to the wine. I haven't been to Santa Catalina Island. I remember using adding machines in days gone by.

It's more humid today, and going up to 90F later. BFF wants to go out to eat this afternoon; he's been cleaning his house for days, as he's having company from Germany this weekend (same person we stayed with there, and his friend) who will stay 3 weeks. Well, the mosquitos had a feast yesterday while I was working in the shrubs. I have 7 itchy bites on my legs (through my compression stockings!) and 5 on my arms (I put repellent on my arms). I was worried about sleeping through the night from the itchiness, but I did. I put some hydrocortisone cream on so we'll see if that helps.

@Denise T Best of luck today!

@0106 Thanks for the recipes. I've never made nachos at home.

@kazu I hope your weather improves.

@GTVCRUISER Nice photos.

@StLouisCruisers I'm glad the Dallas team got to see some history in Mexico. Enjoy Halifax.

@Quartzsite Cruiser Thanks for the photos of Catalina Island.

@Seasick Sailor Yikes on scorpions.

@aliaschief Prayers that the biopsy shows nothing of concern. Condolences on the loss of your BIL.

@RMLincoln A very generous thing for the fire captain and others to do for Susan; prayers for their safe travels both ways.

@smitty34877 I hope the nurse and PT can help Lou.

@TiogaCruiser Thanks for the information. I hope all are safe and no loss of lives.

@AncientWanderer Good to hear you're ok and I hope your nephew will be too.

Prayers for the Care List and Cheers for those Celebrating.

Vanessa, I'm sorry about the mosquito bites.  I once had them bite me through my socks since I didn't think to put insect repellent on that area.

Good morning all!

I like Spumoni ice cream, will salute poets and am definitely a senior citizen.  Funny, I don't mind that term, but it's like fingernails on a chalk board when I hear the word "elderly".  I had a discussion with friends the other day about that.  There's just something about that word that I don't like -- especially when they refer to someone on the news as "elderly" and you find out the person is 55!  🤣  I always think of elderly as at least 15 years older than the age I am now.  😉 Last night we were watching a show and they referred to a 92-year-old man as elderly.  We looked at each other and said "now that's ok, he's elderly!)

I miss John Lennon, good quote.  The meal sounds good for today -- I printed off the first recipe and will make it tonight (minus the cilantro).  I have most of the ingredients already.  The drink sounds good too, will pass on the red wine.  We were in Avalon in 2014 on a Pacific Coastal cruise.  We walked around a bit and took a ride on the glass bottom boat.

The air here is definitely smokier than earlier yesterday. 😞  The air quality is "moderate" so we're keeping the windows closed and staying in as much as possible.

Thinking of our Daily friends in Southern CA -- stay safe!  We just told DS and DDIL that we're thankful they moved north and they agreed they're happy they did.  @TiogaCruiser thank you for the reports.  @AncientWanderer I'm glad you checked in and are ok!

@DeniseT thinking of you today as you do your oral defense, you'll do great!

@smitty34877 I hope the nurse and therapist can help Lou.  It's difficult, I know.  Hugs!

Avalon -- a beautiful day.

I'm sorry about all the smoke.  I wish all the wildfires could be contained soon, and then burn out quickly.

There has to be some old English roadster fans out there.

Is that a Bug-Eyed Sprite?

The more I look at it, the less I think it is.

So, what is it?

I couldn't figure out what the car is.  I even tried to enlarge the imagine I'd downloaded, but it was too blurry to do any good.  My thought had been an MG, but I'm just guessing.

Sandi, that is a great photo of Ren.  Don't worry, the pictures and links will be posted somehow.  I've figured out what I'm going to do.  I also noticed that your pictures could not be found on Shutterfly.

I've enjoyed all the pictures of Catalina today.  I'm glad that everyone who has checked in from SoCal is safe.  I hope we hear from @Nickelpenny Penny today.

I am guessing Triumph TR3, from '58 to '63.  The two upper headlights are original, but the others cover the grille, so it is hard to be sure.

Thank you for posting the locations of the HAL Fleet and the Daily.

My day started with an 8 am appointment for a check up at the Dentist...........nothing further required, given an appointment for a checkup September next year.

Visit to neighbourhood supermarket this morning.

It's  lovely sunny day, temperature 12 C, no wind.        Hundreds of Snowdrops flowering in a neighbourhood garden, lovely to see them when i walk past.

Will go and read all of today's posts.

@Denise T Excellent!

@aliaschief Take care, you and yours, as you process this loss.

Update on my friends and their mission: they’re finally on the road, late departure but maybe that’ll help some of the road disruptions settle down. They sent a photo of Susan (which I won’t post for privacy), they’ve made her comfy as possible in the RV bed, EMTs with her round the clock! All three with her on this journey are licensed EMTs. Pretty amazing service!   Google says about 13 driving hrs. It’ll be morning before they get there🤞. I told them that many blessings go with them, more than they realize!  Thank you all.

It was very hard for me to move from such a supportive community, but I’m right where I belong, and excited to look ahead at our next chapter!  Life is Good🌈.

I had to be at work this morning at 5:30am to let in the IT guy. The upgrade went fine except for one program. It was fixed in a few hours.

One of the”opener” responsibilities is to check the building for overnight leaks, and with yesterday’s storm and the roof being redone I was expecting a lot. Luckily I was wrong. There were a few minor leaks and a few boxes got wet, but nothing major. Whew!

I think the wind/rain did something to our TV antenna (yes I'm cheap, we don't have cable). We lost a lot of channels (used to get over 100? 200?). I still have TV, just missing most of the major networks and 2 of our favorite stations. Not sure when DH will be able to go on the roof to check.

Our TV channels are back! The wiring must have just got wet. We can watch our favorite shows tonight! 😄
