Personally think this is a terrible name. Hard to pronounce and I've been trying to remember the name all day and it has just not sunk in. Think they could have done better!

How can you possibly come to this absurd conclusion?  Arvia Tertiary Water Treatment Specialists have a good association with cleaning industrial waste water prior to discharging into sewers and other associated equipment for council sewage works.   With an excellent associated connection with water why would you not want to call your latest cruise ship with the same name?

Not sure I would want my luxury cruise liner to be named after a sewage treatment company................just saying.

John  - irony! JW was having a joke, and a good one at that.  

I'm still amazed that P&O/Brand Consultants didn't  look into the various brand ownerships, and quickly deviced that a name with sewage connotations was not suitable for a cruise liner.

Maybe they named the ship as they did because Arvia Tertiary Water Treatment Specialists solved their smelly corridors problem that can plague most ships. 😉

When i got the email i was expecting a big announcement about restarting cruises.......sad to say the ship name is not for me. I know its just a name but dosnt spring to mind or roll of the tongue.

Exactly, and that’s my issue with it. Difficult to remember, difficult to pronounce and means nothing without having to resort to google. They should have gone with something that sounded aspirational and enticing to the new market that they are targeting. An opportunity wasted IMHO.

I expect they didn't go for Isla as it is too close to Iona. There really are some people who find it hard to remember the name of the ship they are on. Imagine the potential chaos if the two ships were to be in the same port...😱😄

It’s far from the most important item in my firmament just now but it’s passed through my thoughts several times since the announcement and each time I wonder “Where did this name come from, who thought it a good idea and surely they haven’t tested it on a focus group or similar?  It just feels like a really poor name.  It’s only 5 letters, yet we don’t latch on to it; can’t remember it

 

Anyway, she can stay at Our Vera, via Harvey, as far as I am concerned

Probably a mix of external marketing professionals and internal managers who brainstormed various focus groups ideas and came up with this stunning name. Much like the Port of Dover when they came up with the name for their new guest emporium.......Le shop.🤣
