Good morning to all.

Thank you to Rich for the Daily and Fleet Report.

Thank you to Vanessa for the Cares and Celebration list. Prayers for those who need them. And Cheers to those who are celebrating and cruising.

I will pass on the food and drink but thanks to Debbie, Ann and Dixie for their contributions.

I have not been to Manaus but will be going there next year on the Nautica so am very grateful to all of you who have posted photos.  They are lovely.

Well, we survived the storm with nothing to speak of except losing four fronds from our palm tree.and some debris in the back yard.  So all is well.  The sun is shining.

i heard from the Floor Guy.  He will be a 1/2 hour late, but is coming.  That coincides with my hair appointment, but Jim is here and will deal with him.

We have seen some of the damage and thank God that we were spared.

Hope everyone has a good day.

God Bless,

Terri

Good Morning!  I enjoy reading memoirs; it’s an opportunity to walk a mile in someone else’s shoes.  Here are a few I recommend.
Paul Kalanithi, When Breath Becomes Air, a doctor diagnosed with lung cancer.
Malala Yousafzai, I Am Malala, human rights and education activist.

Cheryl Strayed, Wild, overcoming grief. John Grogan, Marley & Me, dog lovers.

Maya Angelou, I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings, her young life.

Eli Wiesel, Night, the Holocaust.
Ta-Nehisi Coates, Between the World and Me, advice for his son about dealing with racism.

Keith Richards, Life, rock and roll.

Sending you peace, healing and all good wishes.  May your life be good.

Good morning from a sunny central Texas where it is 72F and feels like 72F.  The humidity is 70F with the dew point at 61F.  It should be nice for my walk when I finish here.  Our high will be 97F, so not too bad.  Not much on the agenda today, so I'll probably be working mostly on pictures.  I gone through a lot of them, but there are still a lot more on the computer that need tweaking or culling.

I was glad to see so many of our Dailyites weathered Idalia well with minimal damage.  I hope those we have not heard from fared as well too.  The pictures of the destruction are sobering.

We won't be eating outside, but once we get back to Quartzsite we may since eating outside is a lot easier there.  I'm not a fan of trail mix, and I've enjoyed some memoirs.  When I read, I mostly want fiction.

And interesting quote, and one that is too often true.

The summer corn salads look good, but tonight it will be meatloaf, mashed potatoes, salad and wine.  We'll pass on the drink, but might want to try the wine if we ever find it.

We were in Manaus in 2006 on the old Regal Princess.  I'll work on my pictures in a little while.

Thomas Edison's invention of the motion picture camera changed entertainment forever.

@Denise T  Denise, I hope the laptop repair is quick and that the computer is still under warranty.

@StLouisCruisers  Sandi, thank you for your pictures from Manaus.  I hope your DGD is doing all right at the aquarium.

@ottahand7  Nancy, I'm glad the mystery of the "large cat" is solved.  Thank you for your pictures, too.

@marshhawk  Annie, I hope @catmando Chuck's infusion treatment goes smoothly.

@RMLincoln  Maureen, I'm sorry your DH is having more itching.  I hope the eye doctor can do something about it.

@kazu  Jacqui, glad to see you have a few rain free days.

@dfish  Debbie, I hope you and Sue have a fun time with River this weekend.

I wanted to mention that I read on the Royal Caribbean forum that a 19 year old young man went overboard from Wonder of the Seas on Tuesday evening while off the coast of Cuba. The ship searched for 3 hours and then had to sail for Grand Cayman with a medical emergency. Prayers for the family.🙏💔

Good Thursday Morning Dailyites!  We got one band of rain last night from the storm. My work friend who lives in Buckhead, just 14 miles from me,  texted me and told me to go out and see the moon last night.  Amazing, they had clear skies, we had pouring rain, so I didnt see the moon.

DH appreciates the well wishes, he is very grateful for your caring thoughts.  I need to wake him up by 9 so that we can leave by 10:15.  It can take an hour to get there, or it can take 20 minutes, but to find parking at the hospital takes forever!

I wake up every two hours during the night.  I am surprised that I am not suffering from complete dehydration, and the best sleep is in the morning, just when the Tazi cat decides to start hurling somewhere in the bedroom.  And then Furnando runs in, when he hears her, and they start growling and chasing each other on the bed.  Who needs an alarm clock?  I just need sleep.

I love todays quote.  Poop doesnt flow up, it flows down.  If the top of society is scum, then the lower society accepts scum as a better form of living.

@grapau27Thanks for this mornings food porm.  Yogurt for breakfast for me today.

@Mr. BostonHave a wonderful adventure with friends, travel and cruise..

To those who posted today port, thank you for the pictures.

We had a very small raccoon show up late last night.  He was very cute, and very scared.  Must be one of this years batch.  He ran off when I took out the trash, but something much bigger must have shown up later, as the carport got trashed.

With all the appointments this week and work, I feel like I'm working 24 hour shifts. 6 days in a row.

Getting off work at 10 at night, and getting up at 7, is wearing on me.  That cruise is sounding better and better, but still feels a long way off.

We were in Manaus in 2006 on the old Regal Princess doing b2bs making it a round trip from FLL.  Since Manaus was a turn around port for those doing only 14 days, we were there 2 1/2 days.  The afternoon we arrived, we took a riverboat tour that also included a small boat through the jungle. We saw the pink dolphins then.

The next day we did a city tour that included the opera house and the zoo.  in the afternoon we took a shuttle out to a resort.

I'll begin with pictures of our first afternoon in Manaus when we took a tour out in the jungle.  I'll also include pictures from our tour the next day.  One of the stops on the tour was the zoo where we saw many of the animals native to the jungle.  However, the zoo was old and sadly many animals were in small cages, so I decided not to show those pictures.

Good morning. Slept in as that won’t be the case tomorrow morning. We’ll be headed to airport at 4:45 AM! Final packing, some chores around the house and dinner out tonight.

Did get to see the super moon which looked pretty regular to me.

We have a 60% chance of some storms today so maybe some much needed rain.

Have not cruised around Amazon yet and have no particular urge to do so.

Thanks to all who keep the Daily going. Have a great day.

hank you Rich, thank you Debbie, thank you Vanessa, thank you Ann, and thank you Dixie for all your work. And thank you everyone for being here!

Bon Voyage! @Mr. Boston

We had a phone call yesterday with our MSC concierge (same as a HAL PCC) going over last minute details about our September 14 cruise from Hamburg. I describe it to friends as "a cruise on an Italian cruise ship from a German port to Scotland and Ireland!"  ☺️  We also discussed planning possible 2-3 European cruises for 2024. One in November 2024 that I am Interested in is undergoing some revision so has not been released.

Stay Safe and prayers today for those that need them!

- Jack

We were lucky to be there when it was safe to go out on your own.  The last day, we wandered down toward the market.  Four of us took one of the small boats out to the back waters.  They stopped the boat at a relative’s house.  He and his kids came out with a anaconda, a three toed sloth and a green parrot.  I was surprised at how soft the sloth’s fur was.

When we returned to Manaus, we also went to the market and wandered around that area.

When you are on one of the small boats going through the channels in the jungle, you can get an up close look at the flora and fauna.  We also saw the pink dolphins in the wild, but I could not get a good picture of them.

Good morning Dailyites

Oh goodness. The storm sure stirred things up. I hope everyone was safe. I pray for those who lost their homes, cars, boats, animals. What a tragedy.

Sending thoughts and blessings to you Sharon and family on the loss of Aunt Betty. Prayers lifted to each of our friends on the care list.  Thank you Vanessa for keeping up with it all.

Today we are having couples pedicures, then girls are coming for game night. We haven't been playing Mahjongg lately because we have been enjoying card games. I'm not sure what everyone is bringing to game night but I don't think it will be corn salad. I made a pecan pie, with ice cream, and a (not home made) poppy seed roll.

Oliver is so sweet and a little lover. He's also a sneaky thief. This morning there was a flip flop, reading glasses, coaster, and a shredded dinner napkin in his day bed.

Wishing everyone a blessed day. Be kind. Know you are loved!

Good morning, thanks for the Fleet Report and Daily!  We love to eat outside (well, on our deck) whenever possible.  I always bring trail mix  when we fly in case there are times when DH needs a snack.  Some memoirs are really interesting to read, while others are all Me, Me, Me.

We've got lightning, thunder and some rain right now, but looking at the weather radar, this system will pass by in about an hour or so.  I hope the grass guy doesn't show up this morning, or we'll have clots of grass left behind the mower, as we prefer to mulch rather than bagging.

@Sharon in AZ my condolences on the passing of your dear Aunt; even when it's expected, it's still sad.

@Mr. Boston safe travels to you and DH as you enjoy your European adventure.

I'm happy to hear that our Daily friends are safe from Idalia's wrath, although the destruction is scary to see.  I'm such a chicken, I can't imagine trying to ride out a hurricane in one's home.

I forgot to mention about Saturday's wedding - it was quite lovely.  After the ceremony, the couple left for photos and everyone returned to the venue around 4:30 for a Chinese tea ceremony.  At that time the bride changed into a gorgeous red silk dress (not the traditional Cheongsam), and everyone presented their little red envelopes and was given a thimble full of tea.  Following that, the bride put on her white gown and they returned for the reception and dance - lots of good food and music flowed until midnight.  We left around 9 after they'd had their first dance, as DH was getting tired.  It's always nice to see a young couple starting out with stars still in their eyes.

I know I'd like the drink of the day, am pretty sure I'd appreciate the wine, and would love the menu suggestion - with the addition of chicken or even cold sliced steak.  Today though, our friends have invited us to join them at a new little bar/restaurant that opened not far from our house for drinks and appies around 5.  They have a glassed-in outdoor deck where, even if it's raining and cooler, we can enjoy getting together for food and great conversation.  And wine.

Prayers for everyone who is in need, cheers to all with celebrations.

Smooth Sailing!  ☺️☺️☺️

Gerry

Good morning. It is a beautiful day here with a nice breeze and low humidity. I enjoyed the port pictures, thanks to all who posted.

@Sharon in AZ, my condolences on the passing of your aunt. It is always hard, even when expected.

@Mr. Boston, safe travels to you and DH. The trip sounds wonderful! The voyage home will be great too. Retirement is a beautiful thing.

@aliaschief, safe travels to you and Sue tomorrow. Enjoy your stay with family.

Today my task is to get DH to the internist and hopefully get bloodwork done. I am hoping the poor eating issue will be addressed as well.

@marshhawk, Annie, your work schedule sounds awful. I hope things go well today for Chuck’s infusion. I am thinking of you both.

Take care everyone.

I just read some important information for any of our Canadian Daily family members who might have Egypt on their itineraries:

Canadian passport holders soon will no longer be able to obtain visas upon arrival in Egypt — a new rule that could mean additional headaches for thousands of travellers.

As of Sunday, Canadians travelling to Egypt will have to visit Egypt's embassy or a consulate in Canada to apply for a visa before they leave the country, according to Global Affairs Canada's travel page for Egypt.

Previously, travellers could get their visas upon arrival at the airport in Cairo, or obtain an e-visa before departure through the online portal.

This currently only applies to Canadians, and means a trip to the Egyptian Consulate in Montreal or the Egyptian Embassy in Ottawa to obtain a visa.  Yikes!

It was still pleasant when I finally was able to take my walk this morning.

Last night, I did see the Blue Moon which was actually orange, but looks yellow in the picture.  Because of houses and trees, I wasn't able to see when it first started rising.  Even though it was still big in the sky, I had to zoom in because of the ambient light, so the picture is slightly fuzzy.

Gerry, I hope there are visa services in Canada that can (for a price) help Canadians obtain a visa for India.  In 2003, we were able to drive to the Consulate in Houston, drop our passports and applications off and then pick up the passports and visas that afternoon.  A few years later, the passports had to be sent to India for visas, which not many people wanted to do, and our visa service in Houston quit handling visas for India.  I just looked up how US citizens can obtain India visas, and things are a lot better.  We can now get them online.  I'm still not sure we ever will or will want to go back to India.

Good morning all!

I hope all our Dailyites in the path of Idalia are ok.  My SIL in Savannah was without power for 11 hours but otherwise just had small tree limbs down -- no damage that she's seen.

It's a little too cool and showery to eat outside today, many times we pack trail mix for trips especially in Yellowstone.  My Dad wrote his life memoirs (just for family).  Since he lived 101 years he had a lot to tell!

Funny quote, will pass on the red wine.  I'd love the meal, but can't eat that much corn in one sitting (raises my blood sugar more than anything else!)  I'd choose the 2nd recipe, I think, but as @dobiemom said, I don't see a recipe (?)  It looks good, wish I could have it!  Tonight will be the fish tacos recipe from yesterday.

I'm still not feeling 100%, but happy to be holding down my food and drink.  Must get over this, we leave 2 weeks from tomorrow for the Celebrity cruise.

Sharon @Sharon in AZ My condolences on the passing of your aunt.  Even when expected it's hard.

Safe travels @Mr. Boston! Your trip and cruise sound great!

Annie @marshhawk I hope Chuck's infusion today goes well.

Terry @smitty34877 I hope the bloodwork today for your DH is good and that you get some help/ideas for his eating troubles.

Gerry @ger_77 Very interesting about the visa requirements for Canadians.  I'm sure there are some on my Nov. '24 roll call who will be affected.

Good afternoon. Thanks for the Fleet Report/Daily.

It's a little cold to eat outside now, but maybe later. I like trail mix but don't eat it often, mainly on car trips. I've liked some memoirs. Interesting quote. The meal would be nice as a side, the drink looks tasty although I wouldn't call it a martini, and yes to the wine. I haven't been to Manaus. An important invention by Edison.

Brrr. It was a chilly 54F this AM, but going up to 78 later. I may try to do some work in the yard later.

Prayers for those who lost their lives and all with property damage from hurricane Idalia.

@Sharon in AZ Condolences on the loss of your Aunt. Prayers for all of her family and friends.

@StLouisCruisers Lovely photos of Manaus.

@ottahand7 Interesting on the fox. There are a couple of very thin foxes in a neighboring town that are believed to have mange, and wildlife rehabbers have been trying to trap them so that they can be treated, then released. Thanks for the Manaus photos.

@Mr. Boston Safe travels to Rome and then enjoy Europe before your cruise!

@summer slope Nice photos of the inside of the Opera House.

@RMLincoln Best of luck to DH at the eye doctor appointment.

@dfish Thanks for the recipes. Enjoy the long weekend with River.

@Cruzin Terri Great news on coming through the storm intact! And the floor guy better show up.

@0106 Thanks for the recommendations. I've only read Maya Angelou's memoir.

@marshhawk I hope DH's infusion goes smoothly today. It would be great if you could get some better sleep soon.

@Quartzsite Cruiser Nice photos, thanks.

@smitty34877 I hope the internist has some insights to help DH.

@ger_77 That visa change for Canadians visiting Egypt sounds like a real pain.

@Cruising-along Prayers for you to be back to 100% soon.

Prayers for the Care List and a Toast to those Celebrating.

Be well everyone.

Good Afternoon, thanks for the daily fleet report.  Yesterday’s rain and humidity are gone.  It’s currently 70F and low humidity, DH would claim winter is here 😂, I find it very comfortable and refreshing.  This morning has been nonstop with work.   The thought of working on these projects next week will definitely motivate me to get up at 2am Saturday to catch the plane to Montreal.  I’ll happily forget about work for 11 days!

@dfish today’s recipes look especially appealing.

@Mr. Boston safe travels

I hope everyone has a good rest of the day.

That is so sad 😢. Prayers for him and his family 🙏

Yikes!

Yikes, Gerry.

thinking that nixes Egypt for me.  Not flying to Montreal of Ottawa just to get a visa.

Thanks for the heads up.

Your wedding sounds absolutely enchanting!

Good morning. Slept in as that won’t be the case tomorrow morning. We’ll be headed to airport at 4:45 AM! Final packing, some chores around the house and dinner out tonight.

Safe and smooth travels to you and Sue, Bruce.

Oh my Annie, between your lack of sleep and your crazy schedule, I don’t know how you are managing 😔. I hope things can get a bit more normal for you 🤞
