DH surprised me with some beautiful flowers🌷🥀; he's not done that in years (usually only on Valentine's Day). Off to Teppanyaki!!

Good evening We only waited in line about 20 minutes at Witmer. The good news is that they posted on FB at 3:00 they ere sold out. They served 2900 meals The fire company is all volunteer as are all the other  companies in the area and they all support each other .
Have a good night.

Hope you've all had a nice day today.  We went out together to trim that crape myrtle and spent several hours doing it.  DH used the lopper to cut back to an appropriate spot and I gathered all the limbs and stacked them together while cutting smaller pieces into small pieces and putting in a bag for taking away.  When he was finished we both worked on cutting up the branches.  Needless to say my back is protesting.  I've been using the heating pad on my lower back all afternoon. Check that job off the list.

Just heard FC Dallas beat this particular Houston team 6-0 but DS says they brought a bum squad so not as exciting.

We were on the Diamond the same time as you, except we boarded in Beijing and got off in Vancouver.  Easy for us to take a bus to Seattle from there.  Just checked my photo file and all pictures from 2003 to 2011 are missing for some reason.  We enjoyed those repositioning cruises; we also took the Diamond from Vancouver to Beijing the previous September.

Ray

Ray, it's always interesting when we find out we've shared part of a cruise before with other Dailyites.  We had an excellent time on that cruise.  Your new Subaru is quite nice!  My DDIL used to drive Subarus and I drove them while visiting and driving kids around.  They were quite easy to drive and had good visibility.  The latest Outback is what Ren is driving now.  DDIL moved on to a BMW SUV. Enjoy that new car!

Hi RNB,

Actually, I like the Riviera and Marina better.  We usually stay in a PH suite and while I like the spaciousness of the bathroom on the Vista, I do not like the configuration of the rest of the room.  They took away the walk-in closet and we now have two closets across from each other with less space.  Less drawer space.   The public rooms are beautiful.

I also like the small ships.  They have a special appeal.

I do not think I will sail on Vista again unless there is a special itinerary i really want.

Thanks.  We really like the Riviera. Prefer this size versus smaller ships.

My next door neighbors have been on the Riviera since Dec. 29 on an Asia cruise, 45 days.  They are arriving in Laem Chabang shortly for an overnight stay and disembark the 12th, home on the 13th.  They seem to like Oceania a lot.

Thank you Rich, Jacqui, Vanessa, Ann, Paul, and Eva.  Great job Vanessa on a year with the lists, and thank you to Sandi for covering for me my first days after being hospitalized.  Happy CC anniversary @cunnorl.  Happy Birthday @Haljo1935,

Hats off to the New York Times.  I think I'll pass on the other 2 days.  I do kind of wish I could start living my ages backwards.

I have not been to Muroran.

February 10 has been quite an eventful day over the years.

I'll pass on the meal.  My alternative is Chilled Coconut and Nutmeg Soup, Chicken and Wild Rice Soup, and Pomenegranate Glazed Cornish Game Hen as served on MS Zaandam February 10, 2012.

It's been a crazy week with a number of changes at church and especially the cutover to a new implementation of the AV and streaming system.   I was supposed to be at the controls tomorrow but now the 2 leaders of the team will do it and I will try to find a quiet place somewhere outside the room to monitor the service and alert the team of any problems I see.  We had a long training session with the contractor last night and a practice session this morning.  After that I had to do some work at the fire house for our directors meeting Monday, so I'm way behind at things.

Roy

It was my pleasure to help you out last year while you were hospitalized and unable to handle anything extra afterwards.  And it was so kind of Vanessa @JazzyV to take over for both of us.  We certainly appreciate all the time you've spent doing the lists for the Fleet Report and Daily!

I quit reading our local newspaper (Mesa Tribune) several years ago when it went from a daily to weekly with no home delivery. It was down to just 4 pages and for a city of approximately 500K was just ridiculous. I've never cared for the Phoenix Republic as it isn't local. Love green bean casserole as a side dish but wouldn't cook it in a slow cooker. The wine I would enjoy if someone else bought it for me. Have never been to Japan of anywhere in the Far East. Thank you for the lovely photos @StLouisCruisers.

I was seen by the NP in the heart failure clinic and was told that I will probably need open heart surgery to replace my Mitral Valve. This had never been mentioned before. I had been scheduled to a diagnostic TEE on 2/26. It was moved up to next Tuesday 2/13 and added tests of right and left heart catheterization.at the local heart hospital. Then I have a follow up appointment on 2/22. Guess I will learn more then. I am not in pain and actually feel pretty good as long as I am just sitting. Any activity causes shortness of breath and fatigue.

Prayers for all who need them and hurrahs for all who are cruising.

Jane

You're welcome Jane.  Muroran must not be that popular on the itineraries but we enjoyed it in spite of the rain.

My DM needed open heart surgery for repair of 2 valves (received pig valves!) and lived quite a long time afterward.  I'm not sure of the exact year of the surgery but she lived 10-15 years with the new valves doing the job for her.  I wish you all the best as you go through the procedures and hopefully will be back to good health very soon.🙏

Greetings from the Koningsdam!

@bennybear yes, our excursion was by boat.  We snorkeled near the Captain Cook monument.

Today’s excursion was excellent.  We were in small groups of 12.  We started off with a visit to Rainbow Falls where I ran into @summer slope Dixie.  We need another Happy Hour.

We continued on to Big Island Candies for a quick cup of coffee.  Then we headed up to the Kilauea crater.  That was amazing by itself, but so was the lava tube cave!  Then we went to a winery for lunch followed by the Mauna Loa macadamia factory.  It is nice to be back onboard relaxing with a cup of coffee.

Hi Jane -- I had mitral valve replacement (pig valve - oink oink!)  last October and I've got to say that the recovery has been much smoother than I expected. I, too, didn't feel it in advance, but I also had AFib that was repaired in the same procedure. I would strongly recommend starting cardio rehab as soon as your MDs think you're ready. It definitely has helped the recovery! Best wishes for a successful outcome!

We are enjoying a few post cruise days in Sydney, Australia. Our hotel is near Darling Harbour, walking distance to museums, restaurants, statues, shopping & the water. Great food, charming people, and a Year of the Dragon welcome from our hotel. IMG_0965.thumb.jpeg.cce289c9f866c3929c31c30509bf18f4.jpeg

A first for me -- food porn.  Shrimp tacos were the meal of the day a while back.  This is the shrimp tacos on Koningsdam tonight.

Our taxi driver commented about how dry Hilo is.  This was Rainbow Falls today.  We'd seem the falls better and worse

@dfishthanks,  Kealakakua bay is lovely.  Hope you saw some of the spinner dolphins and whales along the way,  now time for you to relax!

The whales put on quite the show for us on the way there.  We did not see the dolphins.

Actually, you are confusing me with Jack @Heartgrove, probably because we both are ex-Navy people.  I drive a Prius Prime, a plug-in hybrid Toyota.  I suspect my next car will be be fully electric.  Need to see what improvements and deals are out there this Summer.

Oceania was a great cruise line for us for a while, between 2013 & 2018. Great accommodations, food, ships. In fact the food was so good in the Specialty Restaurants and their Lido Restaurant that we ate in the MDR twice in 84 days on their ships. But over time we fell out of love with Oceania. Not much onboard activities that we liked, only one show at nite either at 9:30 or 10 pm, dinner did not start until 6:30 Pm, etc.

Greetings from Hilo, Hawaii.

@Haljo1935 Happy Birthday!

@JazzyV Happy Anniversary on doing the Cares and Celebrations list.  You are certainly worth a celebration!

@ottahand7  We are sailing full this cruise.  I think longer cruises allow people to settle into patterns and help keep the vibe a bit calmer.  Hopefully others will chime in on the demographics.  I’ve noticed a large range of ages.  We’re doing fixed dining this cruise and enjoying it.  Our table is diverse and pleasant.

Thanks Debbie!  After looking around CC I found the thread on your voyage.  Sounds laid back, especially quiet Lido in the AM.

I knew that,  but forgot.  Your rating badge is the same as the Navy has for the Engineman rating so it is an easy mistake.  I have a lot of respect for members of the Coast Guard.
