Elizabeth @Haljo1935 it sure looks nasty out there!  DS and DDIL are in Austin for a noon soccer game.  Hope Ren and the team don't get wet.  My weather app says rain at 4 pm there.  Then they drive down to Houston for tomorrow's soccer game.  Hope they avoid getting wet tomorrow too.

And perhaps a little tech support. 😉 Actually, I do have an important tip for you regarding Wi-Fi on the ship, so remind me before I get too deep into the cocktail list.

Thanks Brian 🙂

you’ve been a huge help to me in the past for the FCL and I really appreciate it 🙂

Good morning and Happy Saturday. It’s going to be warm again today.

The meal suggestion sounds good and I like the idea of the shaved Brussel sprouts that Debbie @dfish posted. I’ve made scallops with pasta before with shrimp. It’s yummy. Today I’m making a batch of no knead bread for the DGD and making her a grilled cheese sandwich from the bread. One of her favorites. Not sure what we are having but probably beef and broccoli stir fry.

I used to know a few Chinese words, my good high school friend is Chinese. Her mother made the best Lo Mein. The family owned several restaurants, one in Tucson and one in San Francisco. I ate at both but they are long gone.

Joy @Seasick Sailor, I hope the Dupixent approval comes in soon. Mine took a month. I’ve been on it since January and so far so good but I do have a few breakouts. The dermatologist said that Dupixent isn’t 100% effective but it helps to control the severity. So far I haven’t had any side effects. The company is really good at refills too. Let me know if you have any questions.

Pennie @Nickelpenny, so great that you are on the Oosterdam TA November 2026. We have a great group!

Have a great day everyone!

Good morning to all and thanks for the daily and fleet report.  I hate to report - well, no I don't!!  LOL!! - it is bright and sunny and warm here.  It is already 81F at 1014 in the morning and we might hit 90F.  The weather app states we will have a "slightly cooler day".  Temps will be in the mid-90s this coming week so I guess the description is accurate.

I love the Chinese language and was able to make myself understood when using taxis when I lived there.  And I could read some - but mainly medical stuff - but I don't remember much now.  On my alien employment permit, my name was 贝尼 (pronounced Bèi ní).  Interesting about the Cli-Fi Day, and no to cheddar on fries.  Maybe as a dip for the fries but.....  Meal sounds delicious, no - just no - to the drink (why waste a good beer), no to the wine and never been to Akita.  Yah, Danica!!

Today is a lazy day, I think, though I do need to get to the store.  I didn't cook yesterday's meal so I want to try it today or maybe today's meal.  Both sound good.  I enjoy seeing the pics of everyone's blooms.  I don't have much of that around me and I kill cactus so I am not a good plant mom!

@JazzyV thinking of you as you prepare for surgery.  It is coming soon.  @kazu Jacqui, glad you made it to FLL.  I will try to remember to watch the sailaway!!

Thoughts for all on the care list and cheers for those celebrating.  Have a great day everyone!!

Good morning barely, and thanks all!  I do appreciate all the kind words yesterday and today @cat shepard and @RMLincoln   Truly such a relief, I slept a long time!

@cat shepard have been wondering how you and your sister are doing?

We have loved everywhere we’ve visited in Japan, but haven’t been to Akita.

@kazu Glad you made it safely, but really Air Canada?  I know there’s a strike but surely…..  hoping the foot, the internet and the flight are the three things that went wrong and you can now enjoy!

wishing you all a joyful day!

Good afternoon. Thanks for the Fleet Report/Daily.

I'll salute those who are not Chinese and can speak the difficult language. I hadn't heard of Cli-Fi before, and not a cheddar fries fan. Interesting quote. I'll pass on the meal because of the scallops. Pass on the drink and wine. I haven't been to Akita.

It's windy and somewhat cool here (56F). Freeze warning for tomorrow morning and Monday morning. I unexpectedly got more sleep last night (yay). Initially about 3.5 hours, then fell back asleep twice more, so about 6 hour total 😲. So somewhat energized, I stripped the bed and gathered everything I could find to launder. Of course doing all that I had to keep sitting down, due to pain. I'm just finishing a break, then will tackle going up and down to the basement to do laundry. Tonight starts the Hibiclens showers, so everything needs to be clean. I'm also gathering some things to keep on the first floor, in case I can't go upstairs to bed the first few days.

@StLouisCruisers Thanks for starting us up today.

@grapau27 Thanks for the explanation of Cli-Fi day.

@summer slope Enjoy the visit and the cruise with your family. I hope you can get more rest.

@rafinmd I appreciate all the work you do on the maps.

@Cruzin Terri When you can, you should really let your cable company have it about their bad service.

@cat shepard Enjoy the visit from your niece and greatnieces.

@smitty34877 Nice to hear that the NH family is coming to visit.

@marshhawk I hope the kittens are ok.

@kazu I'm glad you made it to FLL safely, but the flight sounds awful. Enjoy your time with @POA1 Brian and @Huskerchick Michelle.

Prayers for the Care List and a Toast to those Celebrating.

My college had a lot of students majoring in Chinese, but I didn't study it. Even in my grad program in eco-spirituality I hadn't head of cli-fi and I'm not sure that I am better off for knowing about it.

No on the pasta--Brussels sprouts are OK, cream and scallops aren't, and beginning on Monday, pasta isn't, either. Also giving the cocktail a pass. I don't think that any Nebbiolo is grown here, or could be, so I'll suggest the Standing Stone Teinturier Saperavi, which shares Barolo's need for long aging.

When I got home from the synagogue, I needed to lie down (nothing actually wrong), so I haven't been out to Appreciate Nature. I had leftover chicken and green beans for lunch, so will be back to vegetarian for dinner.

Good afternoon from central Texas.  We've had some hard rain and some periods of just mist adding up to about 1/3 inch.  I was lucky that when I was going to and from the meeting it was just misting.  Shortly after I arrived, it poured.  With the new president, the meeting was better organized and ran more smoothly than it has in a while.  Now, if we could just get some of the neighbors to make their comments and not go on and on about a subject.  I guess that is classified as a pipe dream.  Still, the meeting lasted just two hours, and there were donuts to keep us energized.

Good morning from FLL.

We are here finally.  A gruelling flight from Toronto to FLL - no food, no drinks just a glass of water and a bag of junk food.  That’s biz class.

finally got to to the hotel close to midnight exhausted and starving.  Ordered a sandwich, had some much needed water and a glass of wine and hit the hay around 2 AM.  We’ve spent the last couple of hours trying to get wifi on and off.

I finally put my foot down (I didn’t swallow the Canadians are having problems - have been in hotels everywhere and never had a problem) and told them I had no intention of paying for wifi and I now have the employee password.

In catch up mode and as long as the wifi holds, I may just start a live thread.

We are meeting Brian and Michelle @POA1 for drinks and dinner 👍

Jacqui, I'm glad you arrived safely in FLL, but sorry about the lack of food and drinks on the plane.  Glad you got around the Wi-Fi problems.  Enjoy your dinner with Brian and Michelle @POA1.

Joy, I'm sorry Allen is still waiting for the Dupixent.  While drug safety is important, sometimes, I think things go too far and take too long to the detriment of the patient.

Yeah, on the extra sleep, Vanessa.  I hope you can manage everything today without too much added pain.  It's interesting that when DH had his two back surgeries, he only had to shower the night before and the morning of the surgeries with Hibiclens.  IIRC, for the shunt placement, he only needed the Hibiclens shower that morning.

THANK YOU for reports and recipes and photos and everything!!

I'm late getting on and posting...

I over did it yesterday on an outing with the Active Adults group.  We went to the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center.  Lots of walking and stairs to climb and I did many breaks and sitting, too!

Between Salon Pas patches and Lidocaine roll-on...  My muscles feel better -- but I'm still achy!!!

Hus to each of you!!!

Back from lunch with friends and because it was a "birthday" party of sorts, I got a free dessert.  I explained to the very nice waitress that we had been planning on celebrating on Tuesday, but instead of having dinner out, I will be starting my new job.  The free dessert was a bready thing, Beignets or Bread Pudding.  DH ordered pecan pie, I got the bread pudding, and we swapped.

DH is worried that Momma Cat Munchkin is not getting enough food to the babies, there is a runt in the litter, and he is scared he's just going to die. This from a man who wanted the kittens aborted just amazes me.  I believe in survival of the fittest, (not being very fit, I would be the first one kicked out of the box) but DH says that since we took her in and are protecting her, we need to protect all of them.  And so he bought formula for the runt and picked him up and tried to feed him.  Thing is,  he didn't have the runt.  DH's vision is terrible. He can only see out of his left eye. Add medications, and the whole thing is a nightmare.

And then our friend Harley called and said he would see us at the concert tonight, and I had forgotten all about it.  So DH is not going to work today.  And we rushed home for nothing.

It's been raining 🌧 here since very early this morning.

Safe travels to them as they go from Austin to Houston; Houston is prone to flooding.🙏

Go Ren!!

Good sunny late afternoon. It’s been in the 60’s all day, but cooler tomorrow.
Today, my hairdresser officially retired. I have been going to her for about 30 years. She started out by helping her mother and then took over the shop on her own. I dropped some flowers off and gave her a hug . I’m going to miss her.

Blessings and prayers to all on our journey.

Greetings all, and thanks for fleet report, the maps, the posts and pictures.

As @Haljo1935said, pretty heavy rain this morning in our area. Dark skies earlier, lighter now but still raining. Many flights are delayed.

One of our dogs, Coco (the newest & youngest), and one of our cats, Parker, are fluctuating between being cuddle buddies and trying to whack each other. A bit dangerous for Coco, so she stays in her playpen when we're not around.

Good evening.  Our road trip was to the Gilmore car museum.  It was four buildings of exhibits.  We walked until our backs hurt so we didn't see them all.  They had some real doozies I mean Deusies.

Greetings from the Pacific NW.  Beautiful day, but the wind is coming up and expecting rain soon.

In 1961, when stationed in Taipei by the Navy, I wanted to learn to speak Chinese.  I met a Chinese girl who was employed at the National Taiwan Art Center who wanted to learn more English.  March 8 was Woman's Day and she had a day off, so her Uncle brought her to my house to meet me.  We exchanged language lessons twice a week.  At the time she was 19 and I was 21.  Two years later we were married.  I learned some Chinese, but not a lot, and never did concentrate on learning to read it.

I had never heard of the term cli fi.  However, every day I hear a lot of fiction about climate change that is presented as fact.

We went to Red Lobster for lunch today as we had a gift card that needed to be used.  We had crab legs which were OK.  But I wonder how many dungeness crabs I could have bought to eat at home for $71?

Hello everyone.

The WiFi is back—for how long, I don’t know.

Thank you to Sandi and Vanessa for your thoughts.

Yes, i plan to give Hargray a piece of my mind.  The problem is that Hargray contracts with the community as the exclusive provider and you then do not have a choice.  Spectrum is in the area but they will not service you if Hargray has an exclusive contract.  Hargray is very expensive, but getting a dish is the only other choice,.  However, one drop of rain and the dish goes out.  Not very good choices.  Hargray knows they are a monopoly and they really don’t care if you have service or not.

You can yell and scream all you want and they will just do as they please.  I would like to call them a few names but this is a public forum and I don’t want to get sued.

Just so you understand what Hargray is.  The “Leader in LowCountry Comunications!”

Terri
