Oh my! Where to I go with this. Maybe I will have this drink Behind the Green Door; or hopefully the fruit does not get stuck in my Deep Throat.

While I have been to Ketchikan many times, the trip in 2002 stands out.  It started with a land tour by a Canadian company that flew to Inuvik, then spent a day at Tuktoyaktuk on Hudson Bay, then drove down the Dempster Highway to Skagway and boarded the Zaandam for a 4-day cruise to Vancouver.

I was the only American in a group of about 25 and we celebrated Canada Day in Whitehorse before boarding Zaandam.

As the lone American I took on the role of welcoming the group to the USA for our special day, giving each member a memento bookmark from Baltimore, and then later in the day watching Ketchikan's 4th of July paarade:

Good morning.  Thanks for the Report.

Cool and sunny this morning, only 8C (47F) but we should get to 23C (73F) this afternoon.

Interesting days.

I don't agree with the quote.

The meal suggestion sounds good, I'll pass on the drink, hope the wine is tasty.

Prayers for everyone on the Care List.  Cheers for all the celebrations.

Have a wonderful day.

  I  agree with you on dumb quote.

I don’t like your cold’s progress, Sandi 😔. More in your chest is not a good sign. I hope I am not speaking out of turn but…. A visit to the doctor may be in order.  You don’t want to end up with pneumonia or bronchitis.

Many grocery stores put boxes directly in a baler, so typically don't have any to give away.  They may have banana boxes, which are great for packing.

You could try Dollar General or Family Dollar if you have one near you - they flatten the boxes to recycle so they're easy to tape or fold back together.

Thanks.  It’s been a long time since I’ve needed boxes and back then both the liquor store and grocery store were really good sources.  Appreciate the tip and yes we do have Dollar Stores here.  (Slightly different names like the Great Canadian Dollar Store and Dollarama) but the same concept.

Appreciate the idea.  I refuse to pay for boxes for stuff I am giving away - LOL.

@Cruzin Terri Welcome home!

@kazui have a friend that manages a ladieswear store at our mall. If I need boxes she will let me know when they are receiving a shipment and saves them for me. You might have luck with someplace like that.

Good morning and thanks for the daily and fleet report.  I will celebrate all three days as I think they are very important.  I don't "get" the quote.  The meal recipes look very enticing and I have save them. 🤢 for the drink and why drink a non-alcoholic wine?  I have been to Ketchikan twice a week apart on my 2nd and 3rd cruises ever in 2022 (a side by side).  First week was rainy and 2nd week was toasty.  My pics are no different than others. The history of the Magna Carta is very interesting.

We are still under an excessive heat warning but if I look at my weather app it doesn't look like it will let up anytime soon.  High today of 107F but next week we are looking at highs of 111F.  So a lot of inside work today though I do have to do laundry.  I am trying to make a sourdough starter and I think it is going well.  Monday will be 7 days and I am surprised how it is going.  We will see if it works.  I guess I thought doing it would be more difficulty but with the temps here ..........  LOL!!

Even though it is not quite 6 weeks since surgery (that is this coming Monday), I have started to bend and twist more but not much lifting.  This has resulted in a sore/achy lower back because, IMHO, I haven't used those muscles in such a long time.  So I need to work on that.  I have decided to not go back to the gym until the end of July as I am very cautious about injuring the surgery site.  This was the same way after I had my shoulder surgery a couple of years ago; it took me 9 months before I went back.  But that was a little different as my range of motion in the arm/shoulder was so limited.  We will see how it goes.

@kazu Those lobsters look absolutely wonderful!!  How I love lobster!!

Bon Voyage @Himself Enjoy!

@rafinmd I hope your hand feels better

@cat shepard a no-see-um???  😂  Luv it!!

@StLouisCruisers and @Cruzin Terri sorry to hear about your colds.  Not good about going into the chest.  🤞 you start feeling better.

Thoughts for all who need extra support and cheers for those celebrating.  Have a great day everyone!!

Good morning all!

We're getting a bit of rain this morning, it started last night.  We do need it, I've been having to water everything lately.

All important days, I would try the drink, would like the wine, but pass on the meal.  I prefer my asparagus cooked.  We've been to Ketchikan at least 3 times, and will be there again next June on the 28-day Alaska.

Bon Voyage @Himself!

Gerry @ger_77 Please with your son a very happy 42nd birthday from us.

Tina @0106 Happy Anniversary to your parents!

As always I had a really nice afternoon and lunch yesterday with BFF.  When I got home, though, I saw that "The Mole(s)" had started up in the yard.  They had stayed away until now because I'd put down fertilizer a month ago. They don't like that.  So now, as the grass seed I put down is coming up, is when they choose to have their fun. 😞  I put down my poison "worms" and hope it works yet again.  If not I think I still have some Grub-Ex.  To top it all off, a neighborhood cat left me a little present on the walkway (!)  A dead shrew.  Later I saw the cat watching closely at the mole tunnels -- GO KITTY!

Our first cruise, like many people in the NW, was to Alaska.  In 2004 we went kayaking out of Ketchikan.

We've seen the Lumberjack show twice, always a fun time.

On a fairly regular basis people post "Can I make a noon (or whatever) flight?" on this forum.

Today Queen Mary 2 didn't get to NYC until 10:30. Some friends of mine were not able to disembark until a few minutes ago and are trying to make a flight out of LGA at 2pm which should have been ample time.

Anything can happen.

Good morning and thanks all!  We’ve enjoyed Ketchikan mostly in sunshine a couple of times,  love passionfruit so the cocktail sounds good other than its name.

@0106 congratulations to your parents on their  65 wedding anniversary!
@kazu yum on that lobster!  DS is on PEI so hope he gets one too!
@ger_77 happy birthday to your DS.
@Quartzsite Cruiser glad all went well yesterday and you made it home safely

@rafinmdhope you soon feel recovered.

Sorry to hear so many are not well, we’ve had an uptick in Covid, sigh!

Not good news here,  a state of emergency has been declared after robot inspections of the pipe found five more critical areas that need to be replaced immediately.   These pipes are at only half way through their life span, so not expected!  Another possible five weeks of these severe restrictions!  So our huge garbage bins are open waiting for rainstorms.

I have been to Runnymede. I didn't think it would warrant a special trip, but I happened to be passing nearby.

Shaved asparagus sounds like too much work for the result. No on the drink. Low-alcohol wine was pioneered in the Finger Lakes by the Bellangelo Winery in 2018 with a piquette, made from the pomace that remains after pressing the grapes. It sold well, but isn't in their current inventory, so I'll turn to Osmote Wine for their 2022 This is Pet Nat, made from Cayuga White and Riesling, $20. The name refers to its being pétillant naturel, that is, bottled while still fermenting so that it is slightly sparkling. It doesn't require a champagne-style cork, but it's bottled with a beer-style cap.

I spent several days in Ketchikan in 2021, arriving on the AMHS Matanuska and then continuing to Juneau on the Kennicott. It wasn't rainy in Ketchikan while I was there; all the rain was stored up for Juneau, where a raft trip was cancelled because there was too much water.

Photos here are from the two tours that I recommend to people who ask about Ketchikan. I have the bad habit of recommending these even when the request was for help choosing between two other tours.

Good afternoon. Thanks for the Fleet Report/Daily.

3 good days to celebrate. Not sure I agree with the quote. I'll pass on the meal, drink and wine. I have been to Ketchikan, on my one and only Alaska cruise. 2 good days in history.

It started off cool here, but is now 74F and sunny. It's the last decent day before we start to really heat up. No big plans for me today. Some tidying and reading/watching golf and swimming trials I think.

@Himself Bon Voyage!

@GTVCRUISER Thanks for the photos.

@StLouisCruisers I'm sorry to hear your cold is more in your chest now. Take care of yourself. Good luck to Ren and his team! Lovely Ketchikan photos.

@Denise T Thanks for sharing your photos.

@kazu Enjoy your lobster dinner.

@ottahand7 Nice photos.

@0106 Happy 65th Anniversary to your parents!

@Sir PMP Thanks for the map and the photo.

@Cruzin Terri I'm so glad you are safely home. I'm sorry you still have your cold and that it has traveled to your chest. Try to rest and take care of yourself.

@mamaofami Congrats to your grandchildren for their accomplishments.

@marshhawk Great photos.

@Quartzsite Cruiser Wonderful photos. Thanks.

@ger_77 Happy Birthday to you son! The dinner with your Ukrainian friends sounds lovely.

@RMLincoln Your plans for tomorrow sound nice. I'm sorry to hear that you haven't been sleeping well. Fingers crossed for your DH's eye pressures to stabilize in a good range.

@sailingdutchy Great photos from the seaplane.

@rafinmd Unique photos Roy. I hope your hand is better now.

@Nickelpenny Good luck with the sourdough starter. I too started to bend and twist a bit earlier than I was told, out of necessity for helping BFF after his leg fracture. I did try to adhere to the not lifting more than 5 lbs, although I know I exceeded that a bit a couple of times. I have backaches when I stand too long, that are muscular, and know I need to strengthen my core muscles. I have the all clear now to go to PT and start next week.

@Cruising-along Oh no on the moles in the yard! Very nice Ketchikan photos.

@richwmn I'm glad they made it!

@bennybear Yikes, bad news about that pipe. I hope they can be repaired as soon as possible. Thanks for sharing your photos today.

@kochleffel Great photos, especially the bears.

Prayers for the Care List and Cheers for those Celebrating.

Something different than all this talk about Dear Dolly in Ketchikan , and NO it is not Dolly Parton that lives there @RedneckBob

I just finished my job for today watering the garden , she was very thirsty .
So a little peak here for the garden club members , no flowers today but coming up some nice veggies .

What is better than picking in the morning some fresh lettuce , wash it. spin it , crisp it up in the fridge for a delicious salad at night .
I have here a couple of different leaf lettuces , some Butter Lettuce , Romaine and Radicchio plus some young green onions

image.thumb.jpeg.216c72b9928b72cee5f4ee676eddd661.jpeg

Tomatoes have caught on  , beans are coming up and so are the onions .
No luck this year with my radishes I love them in my salad or on bread for breakfast  the French Breakfast radishes  ( I do not like those tasteless store bought things they call radishes ) , I came back too late from the cruise and it has been too hot for them since.

We have already enjoyed a lot of different rhubarb dishes and treats .

image.thumb.jpeg.4f14bc07a95fce0663ec30b5e0fb6b0c.jpeg

Another 40 days before I can dig up the garlic , some 50 days more for those big very tasty Brandywine heirloom tomatoes

Pole beans just popped up , Cucumbers  are doing well so far sometimes tricky to grow and so are the Zucchini and Butternut Squash

I don't know if you have a UHaul in Canada? There is a giant bin inside with used boxes for free. That's where we got the majority of boxes for our move.

Thanks very much both for the suggestions.  Between them all, I’m sure I will find a solution.  I’ve had enough boxes unti now between deliveries, etc.  I had saved them all rather than recycle them.

It’s been quite a day.  We originally had a 2:52 flight.  Talked to several people regarding whether we could make that flight and got conflicting advice.  After talking with a shore excursions person, we decided to reschedule to a 5:30 flight.  We had a Cunard bus transfer and would most likely have been too late for the flight, unless it was running late.  The bus driver stopped a couple of times to ask security personnel for directions!  When we started self check in, we immediately got a notice that our flight was delayed.  Since we only had a 45 minute layover, we chose to check in with an agent.  After first saying we would have a connection problem, she then said we had lucked out because the second leg of our flight was also 30 minutes late.  We’re sitting at the gate hoping everything works out!

Thank you Vanessa 🙂  When I went out earlier (it's raining too hard now) I didn't see any sign of the mole so fingers crossed it found the poison. Of course the rain has brought slugs to the garden, another problem entirely!

Also we lost power for about a half-hour -- it's been an interesting day and it isn't even half over yet. 😉

I'm always impressed by how you mention everyone's photos -- thank you!
