If you use the filters in MarineTraffic  to show passenger vessels only you can see them both.

Zaandam at the top of this image, Rotterdam at the bottom.

Rotterdam was still in transit here just leaving the last of the Agua Clara locks. Can't see her when zoomed this far out but she's in that multicolored bubble snake at the bottom of the image.

 

 

ETA: Zaandam is 19.6 knots now.

 

 

 

I just checked, and it says destination for Zaandam is San Antonio. Can anyone confirm?

This is the best news of the day -- Zaandam and Rotterdam going through the new locks heading towards Florida.

 

Hopefully they will be able to dock in about 3 days.

Yeah it says San Antonio in Chile, which means the bridge crew hasn't updated it yet - otherwise they've made a mistake crossing the canal 😃

Some kind of an echo weirdness from a different ship?  It's changed several times between US PEF and CL SAI which is San Antonio, Chile.

Thanks to everyone who has posted links & pictures.  Grateful that both ships are through the canal.  I hope they have no further issues and that they are able to dock in FLL without issue.

Rotterdam is out about 20km now, doing 20.6 knots, destination PORT EVERGLADES.

 

ETA:  22.2 knots now.

Thanks for all the pictures, since I had to get some sleep. Amazing transit! I went through the new locks in November on the NCL Bliss and it took about 12 hours. Can’t believe how fast this went! I’m happy for the pax and crews. Big kudos to the Panama Canal Authority.

Was just watching the Today show.  The mayor of Ft Lauderdale is still not allowing the ships to dock there.  The reporter mentioned that it may take President Trump to intervene to allow the ships to dock.

 

The couple they interviewed mentioned how people are using cars and airplanes to go in and out of Florida on a daily basis.

That Today Show story was interesting.  The couple they interviewed is currently on the Zaandam and confined to their cabin which they described as a prison.  They said they were told they would be transferred to the Rotterdam but then it was later decided to transfer those who had Inside Cabins and leave them on the "sick ship."  They were not happy to learn that Port Everglades may not allow them to dock and the story ended with the NBC narrator wondering if all those passengers are supposed to die at sea.  Apparently the Broward County commissioners are going to meet on Tuesday to discuss the options.  According to that same NBC story there is currently no plan in place to deal with either ship.

The suggestion was that the passengers should be taken to Homestead Air Force Base and quarantined for at least 2 weeks.  As the other poster mentioned, it was suggested that President Trump needs to get involved.

I would hope the Powers that be reverse that decision.  Many of those passengers are citizens of the USA>.   I am glad Panama relented and let the ships transit the PC.

I have a friend who lives just north of Lauderdale and she is not happy that the ship is docking there.  I don't agree with her, but I'm sure she is probably in the majority.

On their way bearing about 340 for a transit west of Cuba.  Last info has R at 22.4 knots and Z at 20 knots about 45 nautical miles apart

The right thing must involve an actionable plan for this humanitarian mission.  There is due to be a Broward County commission meeting regarding plans tomorrow evening. There seems to be some finger pointing locally over which entity has responsibility at this point in time.

I applaud the mayor taking this stand.  Right now there is still time for HAL and or Gov't officials to put in place all the necessary safe guards in order to allow the ship to dock.  Personally, I think HAL should be doing more.

 

 

Exactly; there has to be some sort of plan going forward. Another poster made a point in their reply that we don't know what HAL is doing; but that goes to your point...we don't know what HAL is doing.  If they are making accommodations (charter busses from terminal straight to charter flights at FLL), they should be communicating that to people onboard and publicly to show that leadership is making plans and mitigating risks. I did see the update posted yesterday but hopefully they are back today or tomorrow with more details.  HAL needs to be working with Fort Lauderdale, Broward County, Port Everglades, and State of Florida on a plan.

Things have been moving very fast as result of this virus outbreak. Governments all over the country are racing to deal many situations. Broward County is just one of them.

 

Let's give them some time. I expect they, together with HAL and the Federal Government, will come to a reasonable and relatively safe solution to the Zaandam and Rotterdam issues.

 

In the meantime, that TODAY SHOW story was a good example of why the media is held in such low esteem. They obviously made every effort to make the situation look as bad as they possibly could....even hopeless.  In my opinion, they did their viewers a disservice.....but this is not the first nor the last time this will happen. Too bad.

That picture is a screen shot from their camera .  You can right click and save or copy it.   Not all web cams let you do this!

 

How to capture these kinds of photos goes like this - hit shift, start and S simultaneously.   That saves it.  Then simply(right click) paste it where you want it.

I was glued until I fell asleep.  It put a lump in my throat just imaging what everyone was feeling and going through - both crew and passengers.  I truly hope that the politicians can quit their bloviating and get these folks where they need to be.

(Hate to say it but) I feel the decision and process for welcoming these passengers to the US should be at the federal level. 

I was so excited to wake up and see both ships in the Caribbean. Thank you to the night owls and early birds here for the  info and images.  

I hate that this has become “sensationalist” enough for The Today Show. Don’t flame me - we’re media people - but this is such a complex story and the base reaction may set the cruise industry back even further.
