Anyone still booking cruises, or have we all given up?

Recommended Posts

Our last completed cruise was a B2B in Feb.2020. Since then we have had 6 suspended , 2 we transferred the booking that were later suspended and 2 that we did a Lift & Shift. Our next booked cruise is in Oct.2021 and an Oct. 2021 TA. We have 3 in Dec.2021, 1 in Jan.2022, 1 in Feb. 2022, a B3B to the South Pacific, New Zealand, and TP from Sydney to Hawaii in March and April 2022. We are booked in Oct. 2022 on Odyssey and hope to do the TA afterwards. So currently we have 11 booked and plans for 1 more. I'm hoping most will have a good chance of going, we will have to wait and see.

There is no stopping Annie. We have 19 booked. When one gets cancelled on this end, she just moves on to the next end. Only she could keep up with it all. Our thought is that one day a cruise will actually happen and when it does, we aim to be on it. We can see the hand writing on the wall. Prices are going up like crazy.Cruises that we have booked would cost almost twice the price we "locked in". Come to think of it, this is much like the commodities future market. Besides.....what else do we have to do with our time?

We booked for Dec 21, a short 4 night Bahamas, hopeful that will be likely to sail. Next one is Alaska in July 2022. We lost our 12 night Jewel British Isles cruise, so these two are to make up for that. I am done with FCC, though. I booked refundable deposits on both cruises.

We only have a 7-night Med on Harmony in late September this year, L&S'd from Allure last year. I am not convinced even that one will go and we will wait till final payment is almost upon us to see how the land lies. Luckily it sails from Barcelona so don't have to worry about flights because at a push we could drive there if necessary.

It is unlikely we will book anything else in the meantime unless we find an amazing deal, but I am still keenly watching out for Anthem's eastbound TA in April/May 2022 and any hint of a Panama Canal cruise in late November/early December 2022.

Otherwise, I do still keep checking the cruise planner daily for any deals but the enthusiasm isn't there right now and it's almost a case of "Oh yeah, I guess I have to check the cp now". 😞

We were booked on the same cruise.  Lifted and shifted to the Spectrum for Christmas 2021 9 day.  Just made Emerald after our last cruise.  With double points and booking on a suite  we will hit diamond in one cruise.  Crazy.  Hopefully won’t be cancelled.

Happy to hear you were able to L&S for Christmas 2021...we were told the L&S parameters states cruises must be booked within 4 weeks of the cancelled cruise.

Congrats in advance...when you make Diamond...and 😊enjoy the Suite perks!

Since there is no information on what the actual product will be and then add in the cruise line debt levels - logic says there will be degradation of the previous product levels.

Therefore, will not book any cruise until such time as the pre-onboard-post product is clear and consistent so that it can be measured for value and measured against non cruise vacation options.

By design, we have no FCC's. Our money is ours to decide how to spend. Cruises are at the very bottom of the future expenditure plan well behind land vacations.

Definitely still booking.... after 6 RCG cancellations and numerous ‘restructurings’ via Lift and Shift and CWC FCCs... we have 8 booked to/ including Allure TA April/ May 22....

Simple view from us is ‘why not’ if the pricing is good and you can use FCCs for deposits? When or if they get cancelled it’s just another process of unpicking plans and moving to the next one... more planned for 2022....

I'm very much still booking.  I'm booked through till Feb 2022. I have a hold on a July 22 one but I can't convince the wife the do an international flight anymore so that one will likely not be booked.  That being said,  I'm looking for an option for Summer/Fall 2022 and then also March 2023 when Royal finally releases those schedules.  I'll probably slide in a Dec 2022 in there as well.

I was done until the 8 day Mariners out of PC showed up. 😉

Hello Bermuda and Aruba

Annie and I are sisters from different mothers.  I do the same thing, and we have 15 booked right now.  Any cruise the cruise line cancels is usually 25% more FCC for another booking.

We jumped on the Mariner to Bermuda also. Looking at the alternate to Aruba as well. Too convenient to pass up.

I looked at the sailings the Summer of 2022 and did not see any stops in Bermuda.  What sail date?  🍷

My last cruise was Feb, 2020.  I had one in June that was canceled and I got a full refund for that and another that I L&S to November 2021 only because I booked with a NR deposit.

I don't have plans to book anything else until cruising starts back up and I'm sure the product they offer is still something I'm interested in doing.

I had use or lose FCC so I booked for Dec.  Won't put a penny of new money (that I cannot get back) into the cruise lines until I see that they are really starting up.

I also make sure I have travel insurance that covers the cruise lines going bankrupt just in case.
