Good morning. Thanks for the Fleet Report/Daily.

I haven't had melba toast in ages. I do like chip and dip, preferable tortilla chips and salsa. I know many will post their puppies; I never had a dog due to long work hours and then travel. Funny quote. I remember people talking about the meal as seen on social media; I never have made it. Pass on the drink and the wine is too expensive.

I was in Punta Arenas on my SA/Antarctica cruise.

 

It was storming overnight with hard rain and lightning. I woke up around 3 due to the noise of storms, then again before 6 so I posted the Cares List. Then back to sleep until 8. Nothing specific on my agenda today, with more rain showers expected off and on. I did schedule with the Ortho doc, not for 2 weeks; however today the knees aren't as bad, but my hand joints from the RA are painful.

 

@StLouisCruisers Thanks for our start today and your dedication. Congrats to DGS on his academic achievements! Sadie and Milo are so cute. I wondered about "Tuesday" lol, but it's fine.

Sandi, I'm sure there will not be a problem with the delivery today.  We had our refrigerator delivered a few years ago, and they were very careful.  I was more worried about getting the washer out of the laundry room (glorified closet) without any damage.  The only casualty was the wall clock which fell when I opened the outside door to fast and knocked it off the wall.  We now have a major gluing job to put it back together.

 

Sandi, that is good news that your DGS is a NM finalist and can get a reduction in tuition.  College costs have gotten way to high since we were in school.  The University of Texas admits anyone in the top ten percent of their class in Texas high schools, and IIRC, waives tuition for the top two in their class.

 

 

RNB, I'll stick with our Texas caviar then.  Most of the roadkill around here are skunks, and I don't think the aroma would enhance the dish.  😀

Speaking of gator roadkill, a few weeks ago and down the road from me, there was a gator roadkill at Tampa Bay Downs Race Track when a gator crossed the track during a horse race and the last horse hit the gators tail as it crossed the track.

Good morning, Dailyites, the reservoir has reached 100% here, so I'm happy about that.  Now any more rain that falls can be returned to the ocean.  I imagine that means the water tab le is higher, too, so the farmers (and Butchart's) can utilize their wells.  

 

The meal today sounds very interesting.  I will have to check feta for calcium - I'm always on the lookout for that, and Boursin doesn't have as much as cows' milk cheeses do.  I do love it though.  Feta is also a goats' milk cheese, I think.  

 

We have been to Punta Arenas - along with Roy, on Zaandam in 2017.  We went on a long, all-day tour that someone on the roll call organized.  I am amazed at how like my photos are to those already posted. The same things must catch our eyes - like the dogs... We also went to an old fort, and to a monument in the middle of the country.

There were a lot of monkey-puzzle trees and I was puzzled until I remembered they originated in that part of the world.  They are popular here in Victoria.

Good morning all!
After a beautiful day yesterday, the rain will return this afternoon and cooler again.  

I've never had Melba Toast,  love chips and dip but love it too much so it's rarely in the house. I'm a cat person, but do love my grand puppies Rogue and Pepper.  Pepper is technically still a puppy, she's under 6 months old and will be a big girl!   Funny quote!  Punta Arenas is on our South America/Antarctica cruise in 2 years.  I'm enjoying the photos, thanks to all who are posting!  The meal looks yummy, will pass on the drink and wine.  Last night we had some delicious fresh halibut -- yum!  I think tonight may just be BLTs and potato salad.

 

Sandi @StLouisCruisersA big congratulations to your DGS in Michigan!  Being 2nd in his graduating class and a NM finalist are both things to be very proud of.  Adorable puppies. 🙂

My 2 grand pups Rogue and Pepper.  Both have been to puppy school and are very well trained.  DS and DDIL would have it no other way and these pups are their world. 🙂

Good Friday morning from Auckland,  New Zealand. We embark Noordam tomorrow.  My first time in NZ, it has been a bucket list item! 

We took the ferry to a name most of us know from Holland America cruising: Half Moon! Beautiful sea side community with huge homes overlooking the bay.

Late to the party today - back from physio and I might be sorry that I told Barb no limits now.  She really cut out my work for me.  I’m beat already and have another set to do.

 

 

 

A nice collection of days - I’ll celebrate puppy day (big surprise there!).  Thank heavens today’s wine is a red one - I have no regrets that I can’t afford to try it 😂 😘 

 

 

My friend backed the SUV out of the garage for me last night so I didn’t have to try not knowing how my arm would do.   But sadly, there’s a bunch of storms coming our way so back into the garage it had to go.  It’s a tight fit - backing it out was DH’s job until last year.  Oh well.

 

I have to celebrate puppy day even if the pics are grainy.  This is my first puppy - Maverick

 

 

We had no idea at the time how big he would grow - all 135 pounds of him - a gentle giant - he was my avatar on CC for many years.

 

 

Prayers for everyone on the Care list & for those that need them and a toast 🥂 to those on the Celebratory / Shout Out list.

Pauline has never put her car in or out of the garage or even put Petrol in.

I always reverse her car into the garage using my wing mirrors and front mirror to see where I am going then in an emergency Pauline could just drive straight out of the garage.

If you don’t mind me sticking my nose where it doesn’t belong and a bit of advice - Have Pauline put the car in and out enough times (she doesn’t have to back it in - she can back it out) so that she is comfortable with it.

 

Our SUV is huge (bought for DH to travel to Grand Bay in winter storms and to hold 3 dogs - 2 ginormous and one medium size) and takes up a lot of space in the garage.  Once we got it, he always backed it out for me.

 

When Jose went in the hospital, the thought of backing it out overwhelmed me and I am still nervous about it when I haven’t done it for a number of months.  You never know if the time might come that Pauline has to put it in and out herself and if she is comfortable with it, it is one less challenge (and challenges can be overwhelming when you are facing a lot) for her to deal with.  Just a suggestion.

I always reverse the car into the garage so we can just drive out.  It's especially helpful in the winter when there are often big piles of snow to see around.

I even pump my own gas on occasion. 🙂

Bertie looks very much like the first dog I had.... my childhood companion except that mine was a female, Patsy.  Many many years ago. She was my buddy through thick and thin.
