I saw that. But how do I get sept 1, 2021 to show.

Not truly easy but go back to post # 21 for Sandi's method.  It may vary by platform but hers is probably the most universal.  It is easier for posts within the last year.

St. John’s, Antigua and Barbuda

We stopped at this Caribbean port in 2015 on our South America cruise from Ft. Lauderdale to Los Angeles, 49 days.  St. John’s is a small, poor town and doesn’t take long to explore on foot.  This first time there I took a tour after our walk around town.  There were two cruise ships in port so it was rather crowded.

There were the usual touristy souvenir places

00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhG

But we decided to head up a hill to a church we saw from the ship, St. John’s Cathedral

But it was in poor shape and under renovation.  Time and hurricanes had done their damage. It didn’t look nearly as bad on the outside as it did on the inside

It would take a lot of work to get it to look like this again!

After lunch I headed out on my ship’s tour.  The first stop was Blockhouse Ruins where we had a commanding view of land and sea.

00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhG

We viewed the remains of the powder magazine, gun platforms, cisterns and the officer’s barracks.

In 2019 we again visited St. John’s, this time on the Rotterdam, and stayed in town taking a brisk walk as exercise.  We went up the hill to the church again but it seems it is still under construction.  The church consists of outer stone walls with a second wooden building inside.  They felt this type of construction would help protect it from hurricanes and earthquakes.  However all buildings require maintenance over the decades.  I wish them luck completing this project.  We were not able to enter the church on this trip as they had blocked entrances to visitors.

Hoping they complete work on St. John's Cathedral and take it back to its old glory days.

Nice photos, we stopped there on a Princess cruise IIRC in 1998, nice island but downtown was as you said sort of cheesy but we enjoyed visiting the British Navy yard. I also remember the great view of Barbuda from Antigua. My son and his wife had a great time there last week at an all inclusive resort.

Happy St Pats Day!  ☘️  We are in Charleston today and going to Fleet Landing for lunch.  Very nice weather.  Thanks to all who participate in this thread.  Prayers for those in need.

Vision of the Seas is an older ship but has everything that we need.  Lots of fun with friends and family no matter which ship we are on!  Be sure to be on the lookout for leprechauns today. 😀. Katherine

Good Morning from the Eurodam.  Thanks for today's daily fleet report.

Travel caught up with me and I slept until 6:45, the kids would never allow that to happen.

Last night we went to Tamarind and while the food was excellent the service was slow.  Twenty minutes just to see if we wanted a drink. We registered a complaint and was promised better if we come back.

When I read today's program I  couldn't help but think HAL reads this thread.

20240316_202508.thumb.jpg.05f305e893d74e0f5251cbe76f0c44e1.jpg

We had the same problem.  One time it was so bad they were going to give us a free dinner but I had my 5* benefit booked.   I had them give a $65 bottle of wine.   One night we arrived for our 6pm reservation and there were about 15 people lined up to get in.   John hadn't gotten his meal by the time I finished mine.  This has been an ongoing problem since January at the least.

Today is also the feast of Saint Gertrude of Nivelles - the patron saint of cats & people who  love them.  We have a few of those on the Daily.

Good Sunday morning!    Thanks for the Daily and Fleet Reports @kazu and thank you for the maps @rafinmd.  Happy St. Patrick's Day!   I will pass on the corned beef and cabbage, with sauerkraut yes but not the cabbage.   I love a good rum punch and I definitely would love today's wine.  We were in today's port twice this year on the Eurodam and once or twice before on the New Statendam and Zuiderdam.    I don't have many photos and they are in my phone.  We walked the shopping street and found just what we were looking for Cheese Curls and a handbag for our NS Concierge for her birthday.  There is also a casino we didn't sample but heard from someone it was rather nice although it doesn't look too nice from the outside.  Each time I remember we had lovely weather.

@JazzyV  Thanks for the cares and celebrations reports each day.  Prayers for everyone needing them and those in war zones Ukraine and the innocents in Gaza.  Prayers that they can finally get the hostages home.  Prayers for the NM State Trooper who died just for giving a guy a hand.

I am going to clean my office and rework an entire PowerPoint for a Zoom class.  Ugh.  I thought about getting a more updated Office package but I decided to use what I have an make the photos brighten my presentation.  We have a week of very cold weather.   I guess I have to move all the bird feed we bought to the garbage cans today too because all the weather is going to do is get worse.   Have a nice day!  Nancy

Good morning, everyone!

It is going to be quite a bit colder here in mid-Michigan for the next couple days.  Not much we can do about it, so on with life.

Bon Voyage to @Scrapnana.

Not much on the agenda for today.  I am taking today off from the gym having hit it 6 out of 7 days this week.  I'll get back to it tomorrow.

I debated between making corned beef and cabbage and decided we were having Beef and Guinness Stew along with homemade soda bread. The ribs last night were a huge success.  We have enough left over for dinner on Monday night.

My dad loved corned beef and cabbage and mom made it a few times.  We kids stuck our noses up at it.  On my last trip to Ireland I debated between the bacon and cabbage and the beef and Guinness.  I went with the beef and Guinness to see if it was as good as I made at home.  Almost!  https://www.spendwithpennies.com/corned-beef-and-cabbage-slow-cooker-recipe/

This recipe has you roast the potatoes separately.  There is also a horseradish sauce that I know I would love.  It still has the carrots in it for @Quartzsite Cruiser Lenda and @Cruising-along Carolyn.  https://thefoodcharlatan.com/corned-beef-and-cabbage-with-horseradish-sauce/

When I was in Ireland I never found corned beef and cabbage.  It was always bacon and cabbage.  And the bacon isn't like the stuff we get here.  It comes from the back of the pig, not the belly and is much leaner.  It is kind of like what we call Canadian bacon.  Here is a recipe from Darina Allen, well known in Ireland.  https://www.seriouseats.com/traditional-irish-bacon-cabbage-parsley-sauce-recipe

Good Sunday Morning Dailyites!  My last few minutes of lying in the bed ignoring the morning were spent between a purring Tazi on my back side, and a purring Tigger on my front side.  No hissing.  But alas I cant lie there without pain, so up I got and destroyed the moment.

We got the taxes done yesterday.  Finally.  The feds taketh away and the state gives back a little under half of what the feds take away.  When we get the check, I told Chuck it was his.  He paid the taxes with a credit card, since we figured, with him being off in February and it looks like I am off in April, there was no buffer money.  We really need to change the amount they take out of our checks.  We asked last year for the paperwork, got it, and misplaced it and flew off to Vancouver, came back with Covid and forgot all about the papers until of course, yesterday.

I will get a refresh my memory class tomorrow, one on one with Mark.  But yesterday I spilled coffee on my computer, and basically killed the keyboard. All for the love of cats.  So who knows if I will be doing any work at all.  The Director of Operations was my original boss years ago, he has been promoted well, and earned every promotion.  I texted him and he said he would have one mailed to me.  One what I know not, keyboard or computer?  I'm hoping for computer.

Happy St. Patrick's Day.  I was watching the morning news yesterday and they had written over the parade news, Happy St. Patty's Day.  I would have called them and told them they were wrong, but I think this might be how we get fake news.  If the news people dont know whats going on, then how will we.  We teach Stupid.  It's a new way of living.

I do appreciate it's St. Gertrude of Nivelles, thank you for that @kazu.  I wonder if I can order that pendant and wear it.

Currently 53 degrees, it was 57 when I sat down and started reading.  Temps to drop down to freezing tonight.  Outside the Krogers yesterday there were new piles of firewood, right next to the spring plants and hibiscus.  I wanted both, but DH said it wouldnt stay cold enough to justify buying two packs of firewood.  And he wants to know where the romance went.....

Have a wonderful day everyone!

Good Morning from a warm and sunny day at the beach

Happy St Patrick's Day !  We had corn beef and cabbage last nite as we are going to a play this afternoon. I intended to have leftovers when we got back but it is all gone! They ate everything. LOL.

@irishjim Happy Anniversary to you and your bride. May you enjoy many more

@Scrapnana   Have a wonderful trip. So happy to see you cruising again.

Made final payment for the VOV. Really looking forward to it. Booked a few excursions but mostly we will be on our own.

Stay safe and enjoy today

Nancy, thanks for pointing out the story of the NM State Trooper.  What a terrible thing to happen.  They need to throw the book at that murderer.  Prayers for the trooper's family. 🙏😢

Debbie, add me to the list of carrot lovers.  Your recipes today look good and I rarely eat corned beef.  DH likes it though.

Annie, so sorry to hear about the keyboard bath, and the taxes too.  I hope your boss is generous with his gift!  I so agree about the news people.  Hope you enjoy your St. Paddy's Day!

Good morning, thanks for the Fleet Report and Daily!  We don't have Campfire Girls in Canada - at least not that I know of.  It's important to trust your doctor, but the reverse also applies.  Not a fan of corned beef.

Happy St. Patrick's Day to everyone!  For most of my life I believed I was part Irish from my birth father - until I had my DNA tested and nope, not even a hint of Irish.  I guess my birth mother hoped the Irishman was the father???  Anyway, it's a fun day to celebrate something, enjoy the company of others and maybe even have some green beer.  I thought this might be fun; I'm Giddy Bejesus, who might you be?

Not a lot happening here except it's gotten colder overnight; currently we're sitting at -13C (9F), with a high of 0.  Looking ahead though, we should have some serious melting tomorrow with a predicted high of +8 (46) which will be nice.

@ScrapnanaBon Voyage; have a wonderful cruise!

@irishjimwishing you & your DH a very Happy Anniversary!

I'd like to try the drink of the day, but it sounds like a Hurricane in that you'd really only need 1 or you'd be wobbly for a while.  The wine sounds nice, but is out of my price range, and I don't care for corned beef, so will pass on the menu suggestion.  I've got a couple of chicken breasts thawing that will be crumb coated and put into the air fryer along with parmesan garlic asparagus to be served with baked baby potatoes at the kitchen table tonight.  And wine.

Prayers for everyone who is in need, in pain, in grief, or in intolerable situations.  Cheers to all who have celebrations today.

Smooth Sailing!  ☺️☺️☺️

Thanks @ger_77

I'm Adourable Sparkly Pants and DH is Cheerful Golden Balls....hmmmm.....

I forgot to mention something else that happened yesterday.  I was brushing my hair in the bathroom, and noticed that the huge mirror seemed to be lower on one side.  I asked DH to get a phillips head so that I could screw the screws back into the wall, and then noticed that all the screws were loose, not just one side and the only thing actually holding it up was that it was leaning against the medicine cabinet.  We ended up taking the mirror off the wall before the whole thing, including the medicine cabinet came down.  That would have been awful.

And I found out that there was originally wall paper in the bathroom.  It was ugly, and definitely from the early 60's. Or maybe I did tell you that?  Oh well.  I do have memory problems.

@dfishSince you taught me to roast veggies, you can add me to the love carrots list too.  I think I just didnt want to admit it.  When people want taters, then I fix roasted baby carrots, and pretend they are a substitute for fries.
