Probably been done before but this place is as depressing as a miserable Sunday.

 

So what's your favourite ship and why?

Well, just to lighten things up, I'll give the old favorite - any ship I'm on at the time because I would be there and not here.  😉

Anytime I am on vacation on a ship it's my favorite ship😁...I know that it's a terribly non-specific answer, but with an upcoming cruise scheduled, I am just hoping that we still get to go.

I prefer any rccl that had ice show, favorite is navigator, not to big and not to small

For years it was HAL’s Prinsendam - with the level of service before HAL started competing with the likes of Carnival and NCL. Now it’s one of Oceania’s - possibly to be shouldered aside as I try additional small ship lines.

Any Celebrity Solstice class ship but especially Equinox.  For smaller.... Crystal Symphony.

Firstly it was Norwegian Jade, closely followed by Norwegian Spirit. Then we discovered Azamara Journey which took over. They took out the casino so that dropped it in my estimation. Then we sailed on Regent Seven Seas Voyager... 'nuff said.

I’ll choose three.  My first cruise was on the Celebrity Galaxy, so she’s a sentimental favorite.  More recently the HAL Veendam, smaller by current standards, was the perfect ship for traveling with my elderly, arthritic Mom. My last cruise and current favorite is the Celebrity Equinox.

Sentimental favorite is the QM2. Current favorite: Eclipse.

Celebrity Edge. Absolutely beautiful, modern, and with great food and entertainment.

Right now, Zuiderdam. Which I'll assume will extend to the other HAL Vista class ships; hope to try them all! Booked on Oosterdam in 12 days, if she sails.

 

Why is: just the perfect size plus all the things that make HAL our line of choice: crew and service and Crows Nest!

I just fell in love with the old NCL Spirit on one of its last sailings in December. It will be a fantastic ship now that it spent two months with a refurbishing. What I most love is that it is unapologetic about being an adult oriented ship.  They took out the kids' clubs, arcade, etc. Kids can come onboard but it certainly isn't attractive to kids who want all the bells and whistles. The atmosphere was friendly and uncrowded. With the updates, it will be stunning!

We, too, have a special fondness for NCL Jade, and met a technician who'd worked on most of the major lines, who said she was the friendliest ship he'd been on.

But the ship which meets our particular needs, especially the layout and inside pool, is P&O's Ventura.

I must admit to getting a chuckle at a thread called “Let’s lighten the mood” which was started by a user with the name “That sinking feeling”.  

 

But it I think my favorite so far was Vision of the Seas.  Cozy and quiet.

Of course my username was intended to raise a chuckle in itself.

 

So I asked the question but cant answer it myself. 

 

Some interesting choices though and food for thought for next years cruise. As long as we all dont become zombiefied prior to that.

My first love: Sitmar's Fairwind -- Sitmar was a cruise line in the 1970s and 1980s later became part of Princess. Their Italian officers and crew spoiled me as a kid. Their great food tempted me to try things and learn to like food most kids my age had never heard of. And their brick oven pizzeria was out of this world (for a cruise ship).  This ship forever set the bar for me and I'm sure it is the reason I prefer smaller ships to this day.

 

My most recent love:  Aegean Odyssey (Voyages to Antiquity):  Another small ship; a bit of a tub (she was formerly a ferry) but I loved her for the great adventures I had on her (visiting places other ships were not going at the ship such as Beirut, Syria, southern Turkey, and many other small Med ports rarely visited by huge ships), along with wonderful enrichment from true Classicists, historians, archaeologists, botanists, and others.  Unfortunately she has recently gone under charter to another enterprise (Road Scholar) and I am not sure if the online experience is the same....  A bit unwilling to try. 

 

Now I am between "loves" and looking for a new ship or line.

My first ship was the Norwegian Sun so that has a place on my list but maybe surprisingly my first choice would be the Norwegian Spirit BEFORE the last refit. I know it was "dated" to be polite, but it had some unidentifiable charm. I say this despite having the cruise miss some ports, one of which was the reason for booking but N. Atlantic in Sept is temperamental and captain had no real choice. Just a lovely ship and great crew. I know the upgrade was needed and look forward to trying her again, but wonder if the charm survived......

The Zuiderdam . We had an aft corner fully balcony to the Baltic , Norway , Iceland and Scotland - fantastic . It came with sunsets .

Coral Princess!  Our first cruise (Alaska), but with fewer passengers, a large Promenade deck, great library with big comfy chairs, public viewing aft Decks and Horizon Court buffet at the bow... yummy!

Hi Lois. 🙂  I cruised Century once and oddly, the thing I remember most is the escalator.  I don't remember much else about the ship but I do recall enjoying it.

It's a toss-up for me between Celebrity Solstice and Oasis of the Seas.  Solstice for her beauty and chic South Beach vibe, and Oasis for her all-around awesomeness.
