Stepping away from Celebrity

With the new Edge Class ships and the other ships being revolutionized. Where are you spending the money you would have been giving to Celebrity? I canceled a 15 night March 2020 cruise. We are going to England for 3 weeks instead. We are also canceling our 17 night Sept 2020 cruise. I booked tickets to see The Music Man on Broadway with Hugh Jackman and Sutton Foster. I'm looking at booking Azamara for Aug 2021.

Doing a Crystal  cruise next. Mainly we wanted to try something else. I’m looking forward to the revolution as we have a 2022 cruise booked. I’ve only been unhappy once on Celebrity and that was a casino issue.

Although we still have 5 sailings booked with Celebrity, we are also looking around a bit more than usual perhaps.

Have 4 Azamara booked and 2 land tours in the next 2 years.

Have zero interest in sailing Edge Class and although 1 of our future cruises is on a "Revolutionized" ship (to which I see no advantage) the Revolution does not excite us in the least.

Currently have three cruises booked. Two with Celebrity. I have to say I'm not excited by the E class deals largely down to IV cabins or suite pricing. I expect to take fewer cruises on X in the coming years as a result. The revolution is of no interest either to be frank.

Ponant cruises look interesting and certainly  more adventurous than anything Celebrity offer. But they can be very expensive as is the newly launched Ritz Carlton ship. Azamara and Oceania are more appealing and I've seen some pretty attractive last minute deals on Seabourne so fully intend to sail on all of those lines before my time is up.

I think it's vert easy to cruise too much on one line or similar itineraries and so it's a good idea to mix things up regularly. Enjoy whatever it is you choose to do .

Not changing my sailing preference at all.  Thought I'd just stick to S Class ships (especially since it seems the Sky Lounges will emerge unscathed from the revolutions) as I was initially turned off by negative Edge reviews.  Then some friends dragged us onto an Edge sailing.  We LOVED it!!  I've another Edge booking and a B2B on Apex scheduled!!  Different strokes....

I am one and done on Edge also.  This is the first time that we have not booked another Celebrity cruise while on board.

Celebrity deploying the E class to Europe limits our choices.

We find ourselves sailing on the smaller Princess ships and AMA Waterways.  My Edge experience caused me to start looking at the luxury lines and pricing them out.  We book two years out so I see some of the luxury lines in my future.  I was suprised to learn that they are very competitive in price once you start adding specialty dining and other perks to Celebrity.  We have also noticed that Princess seems to have longer and more interesting itineraries than Celebrity.  HAL seems to have longer itineraries than Princess.

We are book on an Edgified S class in less than two years.  We will have to see how that goes to see if we will be back.  I am not a fan of the Revolution either.  We will have to see if it meets my minimum requirements for a cruise.

We are also booking river cruises and land vacations to the places that we thoroughly enjoyed on our cruise but did not have enough time in port.

We currently have 6 cruises booked 3 on revolutionized ships and 3 on S Class ships pre-revolution

We enjoyed the Edge and are taking our 2nd cruise on her in a few months.  The prices seem to have come down to what I think is a more realistic range.  We are paying $135pp per night for a C2 with beverage package, prepaid gratuity, wi-fi and $375 OBC.

We were on the Summit after the revolution and found it a to be a breathe of fresh air.  Did we like everything about the Edge or the Summit - no, but then we don't like everything about the other ships either.  But overall Celebrity has more of what is important to us than the other lines we have tried.

No change for us.  Enjoyed 2 cruises on EDGE and booked on APEX.... E Class is different,  modern and refreshing..with just enough of the X experience we enjoy,

Also booked on Summit and Connie...and maybe again on Silhouette if it comes back to Port Ev.   Spend more time at our place in Fla these days..but still enjoy cruising on X.

We can get into NYC for Broadway so would not consider that an alt vacation..just an expensive weekend outing for us...

We have always said we still enjoy the Celebrity cruise experience but will pick and chose. We have just booked again for February next year, 14 night Asia cruise on the Millenium. Free Classic drinks package, free Gratuities, and $200 OBC in an inside cabin for £95 pp per night. For us that’s decent value and competitive with other cruise lines of a similar standard. There may be things about Celebrity that are not wonderful, but there are still plenty of other things that are and the latter still outweigh the former for us.

I'm sure your will have a wonderful time away from Celebrity.   We each book what best matches our vacations goals.   I currently have 12 cruises booked about 1/2 S Class 1/2 M Class and have no intention of cancelling.   Many have been booked for over 2 years.

We sailed on Edge and planned on hating it due to all of the negative reviews.    I went with an open mind and had a wonderful cruise.    Having said that I'm not sure I would be in a rush to book her again until the prices normalize.

We have really enjoyed Seabourn and their smaller ships. We have found some excellent values and enjoy them very much. Currently we are on Crystal. Absolutely are not enjoying their line or ship at all.  The cabins are small, the food mediocre, and the customer is very elderly. We are leaving the cruise on our own in a couple of hours in Cabo and spending a few days there before going home.

I guess at this point we will stick with Seabourn or go back on the Paul Gauguin again eventually.

Interesting thread.  We have cruised many cruise lines but preferred Princess hands down.  The last few times have not been great so we are trying Celebrity this month.  We are on the Reflection and can’t wait.

It sounds like each line has good and bad and you just have to find what works for you.

We don't repeat cruises that we have done before, except transatlantic cruises.  We plan a land trip in Europe and cruise home on a TA.

Celebrity allows booking without perks, so their baseline fare is competitive (for TA cruises).  We checked Celebrity, Princess, Royal C and NCL for our last booking from Rome to Tampa in OCT 2021 and Celebrity had the best cruise itinerary and prices.

NCL was the worst, it didn't even have a TA from Rome.  Most of its TA cruises now leave the USA from NYC.  NOT for us.

I went away from Celebrity to Viking and Princess and am now back to Celebrity. But we are mixing that with small boat cruises of 35 people as well; first to Croatia and next to the small Greek Islands.

Viking doesn’t have art shows, casinos, photographers and children. All very worthy features for us. However some of its inclusions are of no value like their included excursions which are largely just walking tours. Not interested. And their service didn’t deliver what was advertised. At least with Celebrity we aren’t disappointed. We have been in a few Princess cruises and there is just something about them I don’t like. Maybe it was the ships we went on as we haven’t been on one of the newer ones.

I couldn't agree more. I can't exactly put my finger on, but I had no desire to book another Princess cruise after the first one.

OTH, we had an amazing cruise with Equinox and I try to book X whenever I have the chance.😁

We recently arrived back from our Xmas and new year cruise with princess and was throughly disappointed.

We had a moderate experience on Connie in may last year around Alaska but we thought it was because Shen had just come out of dry dock. So decided to try princess after 8 years away from them and would certainly not touch princess again. We are so looking forward to going on silhouette in may, I have no desire to do any of the E class ships. They just don’t appeal to me maybe when the price comes down I may look at a sampler one.
