Rusty Nail:

A Rusty Nail is made by mixing Drambuie and Scotch whisky. The drink was included in Difford's Guide's Top 100 Cocktails. A Rusty Nail can be served in an old-fashioned glass on the rocks, neat, or "up" in a stemmed glass. It is most commonly served over ice.

Ingredients:
1 1/2 oz Scotch Whisky,
3/4 oz Drambuie
Preparation:
Pour all ingredients directly into old-fashioned glass filled with ice. Stir gently. Garnish with a lemon twist. Serve.

If I drink a rusty nail I may need two shots, one from my doctor! 😳

Good morning from a mostly sunny central Texas where it is 63F, and basically calm with a 1mph breeze from the NW.  The humidity is 89% with a dew point of 61F.  Our predicted high is 91F.  I'm not sure what is on the agenda today, but we may go for a ride in the countryside today.

Dick Tracy was big back in the day, though I was never a fan.  Even though we're retired, our spare bedroom is still the office, and it could use some improvement.  Ships in a bottle are interesting to look at.

The Warren Buffet quote brought made me smile.

We'll pass on the meal, drink and wine today.

We have not been to today's port.

The change from the Julian calendar to the Gregorian calendar must have been interesting.

The Orient Express is one train trip we've talked about taking, but that is as far as it's gotten.

@wdw1972  Sue, I'm glad the biopsies were negative and the dental appointments went well.  Great picture of your DGS Ari.

@JazzyV  Vanessa, I'm glad the rollator is helping you stay steady walking.

@Vict0riann  Ann, I'm sorry there was a problem with the machine, and your treatment yesterday took so long.

@erewhon  I'm glad you are safe with all the rain.

@StLouisCruisers  Sandi, your DD's tree is very creative.

@seagarsmoker  Jody, I hope you get some answers and a treatment plan for your diverticulitis today.

@Mr. Boston  That is good news your DM's brother did not have a stroke.

@Cruzin Terri  Terrie, I hope you find Jim's missing drivers license.  Could he have stuck it loose in a pants pocket, or could it be in the car?

@dfish  Debbie, I'm glad things are quieter for Sue now.  Also, glad you are sleeping better.

@ottahand7  Nancy, I loved the picture of the Monarch butterfly.

@RMLincoln  Maureen, I'm sorry your DH's psa numbers are still going up.

@kazu  Jacqui, I'm glad you got an non-approval for the fence for Ivan.

Good morning, thanks for the Fleet Report and Daily!  I remember reading Dick Tracy comics, but don't have an office to improve or a ship in a bottle to look at.  I'll happily celebrate the alternate days - yum on cinnamon rolls!  The quote is funny. When DH was teaching at the university he would ask every new class what happened in Spain on October 10, 1582; it made them think!

Well it went down to -1 again last night and I can hear the squirrels busy snipping pine cones off our trees, dropping them onto the trash / compost / recycling bins.  I hope they remember to come down and pick all of them up, otherwise I'll be putting them into the compost bin.  The lawn guy came yesterday so DH and I didn't have to worry about picking up the leaves, he just mulched them in.

@JazzyVwishing you a very Happy Birthday; I hope the new decade is a good one for you!

@Cruzin TerriHappy Anniversary to you and your DH; keep the love flowing!

@kazuI like the fence you've chosen - I'm sure Ivan really appreciates it!  Any updates on a date for your MRI?

@erewhonI'm glad to hear you're safe from the floods.

This afternoon there's a fellow from Sask. Power Energy Assistance Program coming over to do an energy consultation and apparently brings a bunch of LED light bulbs (that he switches out), along with a few other goodies.  A number of our friends have had this service and they say it's worth it - heck, if he's wanting to change out our light bulbs and give us free stuff, I'm happy!

Today's the day DH will take the roofless car out of the garage so we can access the rafters where we'll store all the summer chairs, and perhaps we'll bring down some of the things we're no longer using (like camping equipment) and donate them - it's pretty unlikely we're ever going to tent again!  LOL  Pretty soon it'll be time for the roofless car to go into winter storage so we can put at least 1 of our regular drivers inside the garage.

I'm going to pass on the drink (not a fan of drambuie), will let others enjoy the white wine, and am a white flour pancake kind of person because that's what I grew up on.  It's Friday night pizza night, so late this afternoon we'll head out to a little place not far from here and bring back something hot and cheesy that we can enjoy at the kitchen table for dinner tonight.  And wine.

Prayers for everyone who is in need, especially those who have suffered devastating effects from Helene, and for the innocents in wars.  Cheers to all with celebrations.

Smooth Sailing!  ☺️☺️☺️

Good Friday Morning Dailyites! I have a zillion things to do before the BFF comes in on Wednesday night, so many things, that I don't know where to start.  At least I am off on weekends now. Clean and paint the guest bathroom, clean the guest room that the cats all love to live in, get the futon unfolded back into a bed, clean the house, and get rid of the smell of smoking and cat out of the house.  Which is pretty impossible since there are 8 of them that live in the house, thank God the cats don't smoke.

@1ANGELCAT Congratulations of growing kittens in a flower pot.  Dont forget to bring them in when there is a frost.

I just got done with walking the dog, and once again, her mother forgot to pay me.  I used to get paid on Friday, and would take DH and I out to lunch, or dinner, but she forgets, and then if I am lucky will get the money by Sunday, or Monday morning when I go back. Really doesnt help me out when I get paid on days when I cant go anywhere.  Oh well, It's a part time job, and the benefits I get are walking. But not far...

Before Chuck can get his meds approved, he has to make sure that we do not make enough for him to purchase with insurance, he keeps getting calls, but he doesnt follow through and finish the questionnaire.  So when I am working this afternoon, this will be his chore.

His main problem is his medication.  I now have to keep it in a safe, so that he does not overdose.  He has to ask me for the medication, and my rule is you can have it, but you have to take it when I give it to you, not wander off. Which happened last night.  I put the pill in his hand, fixed him a glass of water, and he got up, I said, no take the pill.  He sat back down, and then an hour later accused me of not giving him his pill.  I told him that I gave it to him, explained the time I gave it to him, and what occurred.  Nope, he spend an hour with a flash light checking the floor.

Oh well, time to go.  Have a great day.

Good afternoon.

Thank you for today's daily reports Sandi.

I have just woke up at 16.00pm after being in bed all day extremely tired after the flu and COVID vaccines.

I hope everyone is well.

Well since there are no photos to post this morning, let's start things off with the October celebration tree in DD's foyer.  Maybe that will cool things down for a nice fall season.

I love the witch's feet and legs sticking out of the tree.

Good morning and Happy Friday from a cooler morning but still getting hot Tucson.

I like Sandi’s alternate days today, except I don’t golf. Thank you Sandi for your dedication to our Daily and for scouting out the ports every day!  Also, thank you to everyone else who contributes. It takes commitment to post early every day.

Vanessa @JazzyV, Happy Birthday and Happy 70th!!  It’s so special to be cruising on your birthday and I hope today is extra special for you. Any plans to celebrate?

Terri & Jim @Cruzin Terri, Happy Anniversary!!  Enjoy your special day. I hope Jim finds his drivers license, however it’s easy to get a replacement and you just might consider getting it as an ID since he’s not driving anymore. We did that for my DM when she stopped driving.

I will pass on the pancakes. I prefer regular ones and love the recipe I found back in the early 80’s in the Sunday newspaper magazine. They are called Ahwahnee Pancakes after the hotel in Yosemite where they were made for breakfast. Not sure what makes them different but they are. And a tip for those making pancakes— let them rest for about 20-30 minutes before cooking them.

Have a great day everyone!

Good morning all from a dark, very rainy PNW.  So glad I got the lawn mowed yesterday, it will rain hard all day today with highs in the high 50's.

I never read the Dick Tracy comics, but DH most likely did.  My "office" could use some straightening, and I think ships in a bottle are fascinating.  I'll pass on the drink and meal, but most likely would be ok with the wine.  We've been to Greece many times, but not this port.

No plans for today and no appointments for 3 weeks.  I'm fighting a cold, so will take it easy for the most part.

Sandi @StLouisCruisers I love the October tree!  And did I miss it -- did you ever post a photo of the Christmas stocking?

Happy 43rd anniversary @Cruzin Terri!!

A very, very Happy Birthday Vanessa @JazzyV!  I hope you're enjoying your cruise to the fullest, you are appreciated!

Jacqui @kazu Very nice fence!

Good morning,

It's a wet soggy morning here but it's supposed to clear off. Had a good day yesterday with DM and then out to my friend's house. DM had her list and we got everything done on it and then out to lunch at White Spot. They have a wonderful toasted shrimp sandwich! I have leftovers for dinner tonight. On the way home I stopped and got ice cream - just a small container - 3 nut coconut. Yummy! The border was easy both ways - less than 30 seconds tops.

Today I've had the heating company here for the furnace check. That went well and no charge so I liked that even better. Next year I'll probably need a part replaced but nothing to worry about for this year. DS is here for the morning and he's replacing light fixtures so the remodel keeps on going. I have the pool this afternoon for a Silver Sneakers class and then a stop at Fred Meyer for a few groceries. Hoping I can stay home one day this weekend but will head out to the Farm Tour hopefully on Sunday.

Have a good day and stay dry!

@JazzyV Happy Birthday!
@Cruzin Terri Happy Anniversary!

@kazu, Jacqui, I love the fence and I am sure both you and Ivan are enjoying it. I was sorry to read that the foot pain is unchanged. I hope both the cataracts and the pain situation can be taken care of soon.

Good afternoon from a still fairly comfortable central Texas where it is 87F with a 7mph wind and low humidity.  We took the convertible out for a ride earlier, and it turned out to be a bit longer than planned.  We were headed to Clifton about 27 miles away, but we wound up taking a detour through Meridian and back to Clifton.  Somehow, we missed the "local" route into Clifton, but we took it back home.  The bridge across the Bosque River in Clifton was closed on September 10 for two years while TxDOT replaces and widens the bridge and road.  It was a good day for a ride with the cooler weather and clear skies.

Gerry, I hope while you have the roofless car out of the garage, you will be able to enjoy a ride before it's stored for the winter.  A couple of weeks ago, I replaced all the fluorescent lightbulbs that I could reach with LEDs and what a difference they make.  We got the cool white ones, and now the light is white not yellow.

Roy's latest update just popped up on my email.

A long time last night waiting for sleep to come but it did.

Therapy was spaced out over the day.  8:30 was speech therapy working on breathing exercises, followed at 9 with PT.  2 walks equal to my longest one, curb negotiation with the walker, and extending my walk with the cane by about 50 feet.

An hour off to 11, and OT was a shower and dental cleanup.

A long break until 2:30 and a final half hour of PT.

Final PT I walked to the gym, tried a steep ramp with the walker, negotiated a curb with the cane, and did some balance exercises with the cane before walking back to my room (with the walker)

Good afternoon. Thanks for all the Birthday wishes.

3 good days. Funny quote. I’ll pass on the meal, drink and wine. I haven’t been to Gythion. 2 good days in history.

Nice weather continues on this sea day, although a bit chilly. We will be in Quebec in the morning. I hope to enjoy a nice dinner tonight, although our specialty dinner is tomorrow. The casino wasn’t kind to me today, though.

@Cruzin Terri Happy Anniversary!

@StLouisCruisers I like the other days better. DD’s tree is beautiful.

@seagarsmoker I hope the gastroenterologist has some answers for you.

@wdw1972 That’s great to volunteer to help hurricane Helene recovery.

@Mr. Boston I’m glad your Uncle didn’t have a stroke.

@cat shepard I had to laugh at your description of my leg “garment”.

@dfish I’m glad your friend is cancer free after surgery.

@RMLincoln I hope there’s an easy treatment for DH’s PSA rise.

@kazu The fence looks great and I hope no one gives you grief over it. Now the foot pain and cataracts need to be addressed.
@grapau27 I hope you feel better soon.
@rafinmd A busy day!

Prayers for the Care List and Cheers for those Celebrating.
